This a very helpful video. My sprocket is way close to the track so i can't use #40 sprocket. So i lwill lose all my speed, by using the blocks on the front and pillow bearings i will be able to use the #40. One thing i did on the tunnel to give it some strength is i used the outside 2-3 inches of the running board and bolted it vertically to the side of the tunnel. Great video. Thanks for the help.
On the EXT with the 13 horse I still have the running boards attached. With the extra motor weight they kind of work as training wheels when leaned all the way over. Definitely feel the extra weight of the motor.
Jason Great video. I am in the process of converting the exact same sled into a tracksled. What is the part number for the bolt on bearing for the lower belt drive shaft on the Xtra Long Tracksled? Any info on where you purchased or part number would be helpful. Thank you!!

I built one for this winter . I watched every Diy track sled videos and I wonder why I didn't see a single track sled using the original ski doo secondary clutch ? I did put a Comet duster clutch on a 420cc engine . It use a 1 3/16 inches wide snowmobile belt . I started my build before watching videos . Maybe half way into my build , I started watching some videos and I thought I was going the wrong way because I didn't see anyone using the original secondary clutch . Would you think it's a cost factor ? I know the Duster clutch is a bit expensive but my track sled got tons of torque and it goes almost 60 mph ... so it might also be a safety factor 🤷♂️🤣
I think cost and engine placement play a factor into not using the snowmobile secondary clutch. Using the snowmobile clutch limits you to locating the engine In one specific location. Also a snowmobile belt costs as much or more than a complete series 30 setup.
That being said I am working on taking the 277 2 stroke out of skidoo tundra and replacing it with a 420 or similar engine and will be keeping the stock secondary and drive system so will be doing what you are talking about on that build.
I agree with all you are saying . It was quite a challenge . I did use some old rotax single cylindre leaf spring motor mount bars to mount the engine . The extra efforts , trials and errors are really worth it . I tuned those clutches just right 😛 it engage as smooth as all the time that spent figuring and building this monster in the garage 😛🤣 I restore vintage snowmobiles and engines and I am not picky on belts . As long as it's over 1 inch wide it's good enough for me and it might be even good for safety reasons ... because with a new belt it almost clocked 60 mph 🤯 belt prices are insane these days ... got tons of old belts and they are so tough they will last for years with proper break in and maintenance . They almost uses the same lenght belts because they also used the same clutches on many models . Pretty happy with the first fishing season . This summer I will improve all the little things that need to be corrected . Maybe make a tubing frame because that aluminium frame is pain to work with .
Sorry for the bad quality ... i got a new phone and for some reason I don't find this video in it's original format . I will find more videos when i get home ... i will post them here
Thanks,great information

I'm a fan of chain guards. Prefer closed housings. Could alter the stock housing and use tensioner

Just subscribed today. Great content. Going to build a track sled as soon as I find a donor. Any sled you prefer over others ?
The cheapest sled is the best sled. Also the least you have to haul to the dump the better in my opinion.
