What size off sproket do you run 10 motor 26 jack shaft 15 jack and 36 track ?
Thanks,great information
Heck ya! Epic shred guys! Supprised how well they side hill and climb! AWESOME!
Excellent video, I'm watching add many videos as I can while I build mine. What hp motor is that?
Just subscribed today. Great content. Going to build a track sled as soon as I find a donor. Any sled you prefer over others ?
The cheapest sled is the best sled. Also the least you have to haul to the dump the better in my opinion.
what was top speed (mph) of Taylors and the other 6.5hp track sled?
12-14 on the 6.5 track sleds
@@spudd800 what about the 13hp Lifan's top speed? Any idea who had the best torque/pulling power?
Hey man ice camping is the best thing ever I spent so many weekends out with my lil girl started at 4yrs old. Biggest improvement I can give ya is the foam tiles on the floor keeps your stuff dry and up and the heat difference is wayyy worth it. And a fan on the buddy heater both help with condensation also
Thanks for the tips! I tried the foam tiles on a trip after this one and it really is a game changer. I’ll have to try the fan for sure. Condensation was a big one that night. I really liked the lighting setup I had. Worked really well. Ready for another season! Thanks for watching.
What series torque converter is the 13hp guy running? I have a 30 series on my 13hp and having issues with the torque converter not opening up all the way
I'm running the 30 series on the 13hp. It holds up surprisingly well. Jason did the setup on the clutch and haven't messed with it since. Shoot me an email at spudd800@gmail.com and I can send pictures of the clutches.

I'm building a track sled now and am just about to buy a 40 series clutch to use on a 12hp engine. maybe I'll rethink and go with the much cheaper 30 series. after using it more, are you still satisfied with the 30 series clutch?
Where would I find a more detailed video of spuds 13 hp sled
There are more videos on the channel of the 13 horse. Here soon I need to pull it back in the shop and get working on it so let me know what you want to see about it.
Jason Great video. I am in the process of converting the exact same sled into a tracksled. What is the part number for the bolt on bearing for the lower belt drive shaft on the Xtra Long Tracksled? Any info on where you purchased or part number would be helpful. Thank you!!

Cool!
I built one for this winter . I watched every Diy track sled videos and I wonder why I didn't see a single track sled using the original ski doo secondary clutch ? I did put a Comet duster clutch on a 420cc engine . It use a 1 3/16 inches wide snowmobile belt . I started my build before watching videos . Maybe half way into my build , I started watching some videos and I thought I was going the wrong way because I didn't see anyone using the original secondary clutch . Would you think it's a cost factor ? I know the Duster clutch is a bit expensive but my track sled got tons of torque and it goes almost 60 mph ... so it might also be a safety factor 🤷♂️🤣
I think cost and engine placement play a factor into not using the snowmobile secondary clutch. Using the snowmobile clutch limits you to locating the engine In one specific location. Also a snowmobile belt costs as much or more than a complete series 30 setup.
That being said I am working on taking the 277 2 stroke out of skidoo tundra and replacing it with a 420 or similar engine and will be keeping the stock secondary and drive system so will be doing what you are talking about on that build.
I agree with all you are saying . It was quite a challenge . I did use some old rotax single cylindre leaf spring motor mount bars to mount the engine . The extra efforts , trials and errors are really worth it . I tuned those clutches just right 😛 it engage as smooth as all the time that spent figuring and building this monster in the garage 😛🤣 I restore vintage snowmobiles and engines and I am not picky on belts . As long as it's over 1 inch wide it's good enough for me and it might be even good for safety reasons ... because with a new belt it almost clocked 60 mph 🤯 belt prices are insane these days ... got tons of old belts and they are so tough they will last for years with proper break in and maintenance . They almost uses the same lenght belts because they also used the same clutches on many models . Pretty happy with the first fishing season . This summer I will improve all the little things that need to be corrected . Maybe make a tubing frame because that aluminium frame is pain to work with .
@@ericbedard7219 I would like to see some video of the finished product.
Sorry for the bad quality ... i got a new phone and for some reason I don't find this video in it's original format . I will find more videos when i get home ... i will post them here
Your edits are awsome
Thanks!
Was that sprocket held by only the set screws or did it have a key in it as well?
Set screws. Keyed on the end of shafts but set screws in the middle of the jackshaft.
@@spudd800 I’m surprised they lasted that long. I was able to cut a key way in the shaft of mine with a grinder.
@@allergictoasphalt11 we countersink them pretty good. I have had screws back out on the 13hp but none have stripped or broken.
You can't help but smile when you hear his excitement...."Here we go! Ridin' tha snowmobile!" Cam is quite the Stud! Heck of a Hawg! Great job Dad!
Good to see you guys having a great time with your Buds & the family! Outings like these are the ones that the kids refer back to as "Remember the time when we...." Keep it up!
Bunch of great big kids! Looks like it was a real kick in the pants!
Definitely was. Things are good for more than ice fishing
HAHAHA! Yeah they look like fun! You guys have thought these things out pretty well. Mine is set up as a rear engine mount, and I brought my handle bar attachment point partially up the sides as well for easier steering. How much of a learning curve did you guys have to go through to get them to stay centered and not tip too much when going through the snow? And what HP engines are you using?
@@whatsinaname6840 2 of them are 6.5 hp and 1 is a 13hp. Still learning little tricks and techniques but they are fun.
I like the way you guys think when doing these builds. What size clutches have you used on this motor and sprocket sizes after that?
I'm using a series 30. I'm right at its limits and I think I'm going to swap it to a 40. I believe it's 10 on the clutch, 20 into the jackshaft, 18 off the jackshaft and 48 driven sprocket on the driver shaft.
That boy loved every bit of that. He seems like an awesome kid.
Nice sleds! I just got mine wrapped up and took it for the first ride of the season. I have videos of my build on my channel if you want to check it out.
I checked out your video where u built the hitch. I like the hitch and rollcage build.
@@spudd800 thanks. Yeah I’m really proud of the hitch. I think it’s pretty cool and works awesome.
I have been checking in on your build. Need to get caught up on your videos. I like your hitch set up.
I'm a fan of chain guards. Prefer closed housings. Could alter the stock housing and use tensioner
Loved the giggles from the little guys and yes the big crazy guys to. Looks like fun guys!
Wich size of cvt are u using? 40? And where did you buy your sproket? Thank great vid!
Series 30. Bought gears at Tractor Supply, Bomgaars, and the usual online outlets.
Tear down is the worst part I built one out of a 99 rmk 600 over the last month still working out a few little details but it's a blast and it gets me out of the house and into the shop lol
I didn't mind the tear down. I'm not looking forward to getting rid of the leftovers
@@spudd800 ha ha ha yeah mine are still in the bed of my hunting truck
That's some good looking lodgepole you got there. Have been primarily heating with wood here in Montana for the last 16 years. We usually go through 6-8 cords a year, but forestry service is making it harder & harder for the average guy to go cut a load or two. Hope you are able to keep up the tradition in Wyoming for a long time. Nothing heats like a wood fire!
So far getting enough permits is not an issue. Fingers crossed it remains a viable option for us.
Smells like good ol' non PC toxic masculinity! Let 'er rip!
Hey guys! Just stumbled onto your channel & sub'd! I'm in the process of building a snow dog too! Mine is based off of an old Yamaha Phazer track, and I have had to basically redesign everything else. My main use is as a tractor for dragging out all our ice fishing gear, so I went with a 13hp Predator and reduced it 2:1 and then fed that power through the original chain case for another 2:1. I've got a few more things to button up, but so far, this thing feels like it could move a house off it's foundations! One quick word of caution, if you are going to be using these in a situation where the undercarriage isn't rolling through snow, those hyfax runners will get HOT. Talking with another builder, he accidentally melted his runners to his track after just a few miles of crossing ice. For ice or summertime use, you gotta go back to wheels of some type instead of runners. Keep up the great work & best of luck!
This one won't see much ice. Mostly deep snow. Will probably add wheels to the skid. This one is also getting a 13hp Lifan
This a very helpful video. My sprocket is way close to the track so i can't use #40 sprocket. So i lwill lose all my speed, by using the blocks on the front and pillow bearings i will be able to use the #40. One thing i did on the tunnel to give it some strength is i used the outside 2-3 inches of the running board and bolted it vertically to the side of the tunnel. Great video. Thanks for the help.
Thanks for the tips! And thank you
On the EXT with the 13 horse I still have the running boards attached. With the extra motor weight they kind of work as training wheels when leaned all the way over. Definitely feel the extra weight of the motor.
Sounding a little rough Spudj!!!!😂
And I'm still not sounding much better
I had a 70 🤣 and the sky is so Wyoming, amazing first impression for me. 👍🏻
Awesome video!! Making me hungry!
Spoodge!! You should always wear a helmet testing sketchy builds😂😂😂
You are 100% right
Should have put the motor in the middle of the sled but all and all good build bro
So we did another one with a rear engine as well. The thinking has been that the mid-engine limits storage options. Besides centering the balance of weight what is the advantage to the mid-engine?
Awesome video!! Good job!
Cool vid!! Looks like lotsa fun!! I always turn into a bafoon doing videos 🤣 you guys are like professionals 👍🏻
