  • Merry Christmas to you all!
I thought I’d make a video on all three versions of the Snowman intro.

The first one tears me up the most, because to me, that’s the boy as an adult, plus, I grew up with that intro

The first one is like with the boy all grown up and very lonely after the Snowman melted.
The one with David Bowie he looked like a very happy man with a wife and children of his own, but he was acting more nostalgic than sad and lonely.
The One with Father Christmas he's like all nostalgic too.

The second intro is the one I remember. Didn't even realize it was the same guy I'd seen in Labyrinth. They're all unique in their own way.
The first one is haunting, the second when you see the scarf makes you, a kid, think the whole story is real, and the third one already puts you in the animated universe with Father Christmas.

All three introductions, two live-action and one animated, to the fourty-year-old Christmas film, and the first when Channel 4 started that same year, introduced by three legends, sadly no longer with us:
    0:18 Raymond Briggs (the author)
    1:55 David Bowie
3:25 Mel Smith (as Father Christmas)

I grew up with the first one, didn’t know it was the author that was the voice until recently
