    Awesome footage and well put together mate. We are planning a Cape trip soon and this is perfect to show the Mrs, so she too can get excited (and know what she's in for). Cheers

    This is a really well done video of Cape York.. its a great way of life of up and its good to see people enjoying it and making the trip.. the vids are entertaining too.. But since I live up here in Weipa I know the dangers to some extent concerning recovery and hospital travel.. at 5:15 the girl jumping into Elliot falls is silly,,very silly,, I have seen the falls when it was not flowing and theres 3 very large rocks in that drop off, it would take 4 hours to get her to Weipa and then and 2 hours to cairns before she got any help.. that's was very silly. if you want to jump in the go further down stream out of the white water. its a great place to visit but not so great when your injured or stranded. sorry for the bullshit but I really thought it should be pointed out..

    The last of the true Australian wilderness - It's hard to believe that Thora "Toots" Holzheimer used to drive M.A.N. trucks, loaded with 44 gallon drums of fuel, up through here... She was a legend up that way... Sadly, she was accidentally killed at Weipa in 1992 when she was crushed by a crane that was loading her truck. There is a monument to her at Archer River.

  • @petergreen8516
    @petergreen8516 11 лет назад

    awesome editing & soundtrack guys , makes the one I put up look ordinary . Some good driving skills shown as vehicles don't look too knocked around given the state of the track . Punsand Bay was our campsite because it was dog friendly . A lot of great memories you'll have (youtube will make sure of that) . Looking forward to your other vids'

    looks like a great trip had, cool video and good music. Did the petrol have any issues with the water crossings?

    • @newcastlemusic
      @newcastlemusic 6 лет назад

      The Prado didn't have any issues with the water crossings. Stay in first gear and don't release the clutch. I even let my wife do the Elliot Falls "puddle" crossing. She did fine.

    Did the Prado have any issues doing the trip? What mods did it have?

    • @benmeh101
      @benmeh101  10 лет назад +2

      The Prado 90 Series (Petrol) did it all quite easily. The only time it needed to be snatched was at Palm Creek exit (as seen in video recovered by my Patrol GU IV). This was probably due to having no front locker on the 90. As far as mods go, Prado has a 2" lift, BF Goodrich A/T 32" tyres, Rear Air Locker and Snorkel. Great door seals too, not a drop of water ingress from all those crossings. My number 1 tip for the OTT is to drop your tyre pressures down. We ran 24 psi most the way up the OTT and dropped down to 16 psi on Nolans Brook. The main reason ppl get stuck in Nolans is tyre pressure, its a soft sandy bottom with an incline so treat it like beach driving and you should be fine. Also no need to go fast in Nolans, the impact can pull you up hard so take it slow and and wait 10 mins after the prev vehicle if possible so the sand has time to settle in the running water.
