Summary of the video: 1. You don't eat enough food for your body during the day (your body keeps thinking about something it needs). 2. You may be full but not satisfied or you are eating something you don't like (change flavour, texture or food- you may not know you dislike something) 3. You are labelling your food bad or good. Your reward system kicks in and you reach out to the "bad food" because you haven't had it in a while and now it's time to have it while you can. 4. You are using food as an emotional crutch as a way to avoid thinking about emotions or feelings. Learn to cope with your emotions differently. 5. Don't get fixated on food, but be excited about it. I hope you find this comment helpful and you heal from whatever is hurting you ❣️
i love that you make intuitive eating more practical and talk about using up what we have in our fridge etc. i hate wasting food and I dont have the money to just get whatever i feel like eating on a whim.
Intuitive eating encourages overeating which is also disordered eating. With everything in life, it is about balance and some foods just cannot be eaten as much as others.
@@user-zk5cn3mp6q which is wrong! For a person who struggles with overeating and binge eating which is cause of obesity in majority of cases, feeling full either never happens or the person has consumed way over their caloric requirement by the time they feel full. It is about portion control and gradual reduction of calorie consumption

@@supererikman5331 I’ve struggled with binge eating disorder and intuitive eating has helped me a lot. I lost a lot of weight actually since I stopped overreating. I’m sorry it doesn’t work for you but it works for others and it’s worth a try, so you shouldn’t tell people not to try it! :) and telling people they shouldn’t eat certain foods can be triggering and cause even more binging. I signed up for the challenge yesterday and i can't wait to be part of it. I really really wanna be free of all those food thoughts and to get the right weight for myself I am underweight and I wanna be healthy I am really really looking forward to it 😊😊 I really wanna be intuitive eater 😄
You got this! The saying intuitive eating is not very intuitive 🤣 is real, but starting the journey is amazing! It can feel so hard and scary at times, but finding food freedom and learning to trust ourselves with food again is so nice 😊you got this! Keep it up+
I hate when I start to put the food in my mouth my brain just tell me eat and eat and eat never end and I feel like want to put all the food on my plate into my mouth in one time then when I finish my brain still told me 'hey go grab more food or what food can I eat next'. Sometimes I feel really full but my brain always think what I should eat or thinking about food.24 hour a day I just thinking about food like half of a day. I can't say no to food. I don't know why I feel like this everyday about 1 week. I'm in anorexia recovery I think I'm not anorexic anymore but maybe binge eating disorders because I can't control on my fullness and my hunger.
Hi Colleen, I really appreciate this video. I think I've improved a little as far as thinking about food all the time but I know I still need to work on it. I really struggle a lot with thinking of food as "good" or "bad." I know I also have a problem with looking to food, mainly sweets, to sooth emotions. This is really helpful. ❤

That is definitely a good start! I know it can be hard, but give yourself grace and time. You'll get there! You may also want to consider finding a professional in your area that can help you on your recovery journey as well. Keep fighthing the good fight! You got this!❤
i hope you notice me here, now i have problem about guilty. when i eat unhealthy foods i keep feeling guilty and want to workout, but i dont have mood to exercise, so i feel so stress and doesnt wht what to do
reasons 1) you are not getting enough food it is a hunger cue physically full but not satisfied you may not be eating that you like 2) you are deeming foods as “bad” 3) you are using it as an emotional crutch thinking about food as a way to avoid thinking about your emotions a coping mechanism
Colleen, just discovered your wonderful channel. I just wanted to say that I think you are amazing, charismatic, and a real hoot! Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Looking forward to the 5 day challenge!
So i warn about my bad english lol i'm from Finland so yeahh, but, I struggle with many things what I really need help with so please read! I am a 13 years old girl who loves to exercise, I love cardio the most so I run like 3/2 times a week because I have like 3 workout days in the week, so i basically run 2 times a week and do a little full body workout (witch 13 years olds can do) once a week. I go for many walks too everyday! And I really care about my health and I try my best to live a healthy lifestyle even I am just a young teenage but anyways. I stopped whit drinking sodas or drinks with any sugar in when I had really bad teeths so there were where I started to change what I eat and started a "healthy" diet. I drink a lot of water in the day and ofc milk and in the mornings a cup of ice coffe too! I eat like 4 times a day but I eat too some snack like a fruit or youghort maybe 2 hours before i eat the next meal. But it feels like I eat too little in the day but if i start eating more so then it feels like I'm eating too much. I think a lot of what i eat like if it is healthy or not and I plan what I should eat next, I try to stop it but it is really hard! It feels like i'm always hungry and maybe I am too cuz I eat too little in the day and work out really much. I think about food too all the time. I weight maybe like 40-43kg and I'm skinny so i should eat more ik (I try tomorrow start to eat the whole day more) And like I'm scared of losing weight but I don't want to eat junk food or candy eather. Ik the key is to strt eating more but how can I stop thinking about food and thinking about what i should eat next and if it's unhealthy or healthy))))):
Just do cardio if you’re trying to lose weight 2 miles a day . Every meal you need chicken/fish, half plate vegetables any type and a carb like potato or rice/pasta. You’re hungry because you lack nutrition stick to it everyday in the morning and get it out the way and drink water and 0 calorie drinks to replace juice
I’ve just gained 10lbs to fix a anaemia and now I’m miserable and I’ve always been on some sort of diet. I also have PTSD and from childhood abuse and have been heavier and now I’m not comfortable with that anymore. Any tips for trauma eaters? How to go through the process of people noticing your losing weight. It can send me into a tale spin.
hey! i have C-PTSD too. definitely recommend addressing the trauma. i cut my abusive family out of my life completely. no contact at all. it was sooo hard, but has been life changing for me.
You can absolutely get free from food obsession and overeating even if you are a trauma eater. I have worked with many women who had childhood abuse and other types of trauma who are now free from their food obsessions and addictions. I agree that first getting free from the trauma and all of the things that weigh heavy on you as a result of it is the key to ultimately feeling lighter and having total freedom from food.
I have a genuine fear of being too small because I feel like prey even though I have been assaulted at a weight heavier than I am right now…. When I was skinny I wasn’t assaulted. Doesn’t make sense but oh well mental illness isn’t logical.
Even when I do eat my food properally. I still think about food. I wanna what can I eat to loose weight? I eat my food properly and still think about food.
wtf took a break from watching this video to check instagram but opened it to a post of one of your tiktoks hehe it’s a sign i have to keep watching you
You should do a video where you make intuitive meals using what you have. Like how you made your sandwich with the yogurt dip because it was about to expire.
I figured it out. It’s food addiction. You need to convince ur mind that food is not that amazing & stop thinking highly of it. Eating intuitively is about mindful eating. Only eat what is necessary for survival. This includes you fasting for the time needed, and being busy with other things and activities and hobbies, jobs and other things & eating healthy foods for your body that are nutritious. It’s about nutrition and vitamins! Your body does not need junk food to feel satisfied and no longer hungry. You need nutrients for your body. Something good for you. Nutrient based food with keep you satisfied & no longer hungry for many hours. It can’t just be calorie packed or dense. It needs to be healthy and fulfilling for your body. So pick healthy calories! Healthy carbs! Including the tasty stuff like pastas and bread! Veggie pasta, and wheat bread ;) got ya covered! Slather on peanut butter and u got extra protein! Top it with banana! Good example for ya ;) maybe some spinach too! Or tons of home made veggie tacos! Lots of veggies! She gives a better explanation than i do. But these notes are for me too ❤ Basically find another way to fix your emotions! Find better stress relievers. Keep food off your mind by gaining better control over your own life ❤ I conquered the majority of my binge eating disorder and it’s a process! I gained a lot of weight from snacking and eating too much and being too sedentary!! Have some self control too. It really was an emotional journey. It has been a ride! I’m hoping to lose weight over time if i keep up my healthy habits! ❤wish me good luck.
A lot of my issue is that I want to recover but even in recovery I cannot take my mind off of food noise and body image. I don't feel like I can give myself true food freedom until I tackle my insecurities. Any advice pls?
How do I change my set point? It was 122 for yeaars. And then it changed! I lt was 102 and I stayed there eating intuitively and was comfortable. But then something happened and I am stuck at 122 again and I hate it.
