Thanks for posting this video, I cleaned the aluminum as instructed in your video, and cleaned the cap as well, but my keyboard still didn’t work. So I used the same long swab with alcohol and wiped the contact in the battery compartment then reinserted the batteries and bam, it started up.
Thanks! Scraping the crud off the negative plug threads did the trick! I even tried a wooden dowel, and glued a piece of sandpaper on the end of it to clean the positive connection inside, and it still didn’t work! 😳
Wow! thanks for this I just bought one second hand and was about to send it back as it was not turning on. A quick rub down around the battery openinng with an alcohol wipe and boom it powers up. Big thanks for this
Thanks for the video! My case is a bit odd, because only the number keys stopped working after a casual clean with rubbing alcohol, but the "zero" is working. So 1, 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 not working. This way I can't pair the keyboard or enter any passwords which renders my keyboard useless. It's the smaller model with no num pad. Mouse keys is unchecked. I tried everything offered in blogs and discussions, but nothing works. Any ideas?
AWESOME. Can't believe how many keyboards must get tossed without trying this simple fix. My connections looked clean, but the Q-tip turned black upon cleaning.
Thanks! It was difficult to see what you were doing on the LHS (left hand side), but I assumed that this is where the switch touches the inside of the aluminium body, when re-assembled. Like you did, I gently moved (re-sprung) it upwards, cleaned it with very fine abrasive paper, and also did the same to the inside of the body where this part makes contact. I also used the same abrasive paper on the positive side of the battery contact, and also on the screw cap and female screw thread on the body. It worked a treat. Thanks again!!!
@@shaïmaeChadli up the top of the keyboard on the side of mine, there was a dip in the circle which I used a small coin to turn, and you if you turn it for a while, it'll twist off. Hope that explanation made sense :)
I had to disassemble the whole thing, but it was worth it. My dad had to go out and buy a whole new one (the second gen). I kept this one in its box until today, when I wanted to see if it was broken, I did this and it works, and it's better to type on than the 2nd gen.
There is a metal spring that made contact between the logic board and the chassis - the ground rail. So I bend the spring for better contact. I am sorry for the delay Pedro Silva.
Followed all the fix points to the letter. However, my A1314 still does work. Sometimes the green light flashes like it should, then after 30 minutes has still not paired with my Apple Mac Pro. Have done all the resetting ect, but alas the keyboard does not work :) I think Bluetooth technology is not great, so it's back to a USB keyboard.
if u having still problem with turning the keyboard on after following all steps in the tutorial try to put pea-sized ball of tin foil in the battery slot (it should be right in the centre and it shouldn't touch sides, then click the power button and if still nothing give it couple smacks)
Why the hell does apple do this lol something so simple is so complicated. They should of just had a wire option to connect for both keyboard and mouse so I wouldn't have to keep reconnecting the Bluetooth
When I open it up and try to take everything out, it only goes out a little, and then it's stuck even tho I removed the screw and the little flap thing. Any idea on why?
My apple wireless keyboard functioned again because of this. Thank you so much !!!! Whatta life saver
how did you opened it?
About to buy another keyboard as I had this issues for longer time and magically it worked after following this instruction…Saved me 150 bucks
I never leave comments, but holy cow this actually worked! Thank you so much!!
Thanks dude. You saved my USD $100...❤. I was about to buy a new one. Then I got your video...😍

Try to clean it with isopropyl alcohol (min. 96 degrees).
Did you solved it? I'm dealing with the exact same problem.

AWESOME. Can't believe how many keyboards must get tossed without trying this simple fix. My connections looked clean, but the Q-tip turned black upon cleaning.

Hello! Didn’t understand what you did to the “clip” near the power button! Can you please explain better? Thanks!

great, he disassembles it off screen. Waste of time.
What a waste of time watching that with no idea what a the fingers were doing most of the time.
Thanks for not showing how you need to push the button. Terrible
What are you referring to? The power button
So far you wasted my time removing the batteries....dude, we own this, we already know this part. Move to the repair already. Stop wasting time.
