Hi Adam, that's my old car.!! I had it when it was the Peter Brock tribute Sierra, Graham bought it off me several years ago with plans to rebuild it and race in the CNC series, he was obviously true to his word and made a fantastic job of it..!!
My brother built that shell and it was me who painted it, he found that shell in a barn in about 2006-07 and it had been sat since the late 80s, I've never seen a Sierra shell so solid,. From what I can remember it was a 84 B reg 1.6 L and was red in colour. That cage was a nightmare to paint too 😭😂😂. I did hear a week or so back it might be going over to Ireland, nice to see its still looking good as a serious amount of time and prep went into it👍
One of the best shells I've ever come across, a heck of a find. Yes, the shall has been sold and has gone away to a lovely new owner who promises to build it into a rally car and use it as it should be.
My old bosses in the early 90s used to race in Thunder saloons, my favourite was a very wide escort cosworth with a V8 NASCAR engine fitted with a rear mounted Hewland type F1 gearbox, the car was space framed and she was called the Black Empress. Rick Wood also raced in Thunder Saloons, in a yellow V6 mk3 Capri with purple wheels and sounded amazing....good days they were. 😎
That one you clicked on in the google search with no bonnet, has the 3.4 Ford GAA Cosworth V6 engine. You can see the throttle bodies poking up. Guy called Tony Proctor used to rallycross one back in the 80s at Croft. A monster of an engine
I was lucky enough to have a mate that could get us pit lane passes for thunder saloon races at brands hatch and would watch from the pit wall the noise was something else.
Good video. Just want to say welldone for doing a good video and especially good sound as there are to many youtubers who drive flash cars and don't use decent equipment .
Magoobus one tube will be attached to the actuator or external wastegate. It works via your Ecu to control boost pressures accurately rather than like a vacum system
Adam Smith that’s cool. They might help with the anti lag as it could increase boost pressures as soon as the button is pressed. That part I’m not 100% sure. But they are air injectors which do the boost. 👍. Lovely car from the old days. My dad used to have an rs500(A10COS) which he used to sprint and hill climb back in the early 90’s. Was running a mountune 501bhp in 93. A lot of power from those in those days. Nothing now tho. Haha.
It seems that this is an "anti-lag" system, like on a Toyota Celica GT-Four. A combustible mixture is injected into the exhaust manifold in front of the turbine, it ignites and turns the hot part of the turbine.
I'd loved to seen a V8 under that bonnet 😊 But a YB was a nice surprise.. I had a Thunder Sallon kit for a Mk2 Escort yrs ago wish I'd never sold it but in all honestly id probably never built it up to use as takes alot of work . Was sold on ebay about 13-15yrs at a guess now the buy was in IOW or IOM I cant remember which tbh but was going to email me photos of his build but never did get any updates ;(
Hello Adam love all your videos, I'm building a 3door sierra, a mk1 escort and a mk4 escort we have other projects as well would love to get you involved as you've inspired us so much to get them fixed. Take care 👍

@@Adam151082 I got the impression with Adam that he may not like to be a passenger......but IF I got that wrong I'll happily take him out on a track day in the LoonyTunes car
Michael Bloomfield raced a Rs500 Thunder Saloon originally with a Porsche engine he later developed the car and dropped a 5.7 litre Chevy engine into it. The car was written off at Oulton Park a number of years ago but there’s talk of him rebuilding the car
I spoke with him some 8 years ago about the car. Many parts on the car were custom made for it and he said as there were no drawings for the parts there was no way he could rebuild it
Adam - i would like to know where this felow got the body work - front and rear wings and rocker panels - was it a kit form soem shop or home built - Steve Ottawa Canada
When we were building the car and it came to deciding on wheels, they had to be custom made. The fronts are 10 inches wide and the rears are 13 inches wide. I decided on the minilite replicas for two reasons. They are a cool classic design, and also they are alot easier to clean all the brake dust off because they don't have lots of spokes to them
@@Adam151082 It was the guy from the series Breaking Bad - they did a spin off series called "Better Call Saul" lol :D I'd be on the phone now if I could afford it.

Awesome!!! Small world fella 😁
Took a few years to do, but what a car it is now!
Nice job lovey looking thing
Those two fuel injectors Adam are actually air injector solenoids
Used to control the boost much better via the ecu itself
Graham is a great bloke , and its a pleasure catching up with him at the track .
Top videos you're producing these days Adam, I find myself watching every one of them.
I'm not a Ford mega fan but who doesn't like a Cossie 😉
Wouldn’t even matter if you had crap cars on the channel, you’re such a likeable bloke I’d still watch! Cracking stuff on here mate keep it up!

Just never knew there were still so many Sierras about ! Thanks
Turbo systems at Newcastle under Lyme used to do a thunder saloon conversion. They also raced in the series. Dont know what happened to them.

Lovely car and such a nice bloke 👌
Those injectors I believe are air injectors which help control the boost pressures . I ran them on my staff cossie and also my skyline gtr 👍.
I thought so also, not for anti lag.

Nice .No speedometer to let you know how fast you are going... That is mad.
None of Pauls RS500 have speedo’s Brian. I assume you don't need to know the speed on a race track. It's just flat out
Adam is right, there are no speed limits on a race track, so why have the extra weight of a Speedo
