Appreciate you putting this video out right away. Go check out Arcane. Great stuff there. Also, I was hoping for 1v1 so it's a pass for me, but this should be a great entry for the FGC.
My first step to Fighting games was very intimidating, I stopped playing it after just weeks playing it. But, the way their making this game for every skill level and larger audience feels like I can get into and still have fun, just like valorant. I'm not the fps person, I'm more strategy, puzzle and card player and valorant helped me introduce to fps games.
It feels like the most “video game fighting game” since mvc2. It’s like a really beautiful nostalgic feeling as if the is the future done right. Sending positive energy to their project 🙌🏾
Honestly to me the game just needs some more satisfying sound effects, arcade mode and traditional fighting game input options (because not everyone is going to get into the Fighting EX Layer scheme while asking for easy inputs) to be very addicting. Also for one button combos to not go full o n Blazblue/Guilty Gear stylish, standard and efficient like Melty Blood Type Lumina rapid beats (while being OPTIONAL) would be cool for newer players.
The game isn't anywhere close to a finished state yet, they already said it won't be coming out in 2022. These sound effects, and everything else for that matter are still in development. If there's an option between traditional-style inputs and 1-button inputs, nobody would use the traditional ones unless there was some significant benefit in doing so. If there was one, than you entirely lose the mechanical accessibility that the 1-button inputs are meant to offer, because the only competitively viable way to play would be to use traditional inputs. If there isn't, than traditional inputs would only be a disadvantage. The game is supposed to be catering to not just fighting game players, but to the wider audience as a whole. Also, idk if it's just me, but who gives a shit about Arcade mode? Is it really that fun to fight some CPU opponents that'll be a joke the moment you learn a BnB, a boss, and then get some wack non-canon ending? If there is single-player content, which I don't even know if that's a priority at all considering that League of Legends itself doesn't have any afaik, then I'd hope it's something with more substance than your usual arcade modes.
Question for you, Justin: How do you emulate the games you play. I'm a beginning RUclipsr and any advice you or the community have would be greatly appreciated
I highly disagree about LOL being easy to understand. I wanted to watch some pro-level play in LOL and could barely understand what was happening, the same way I'm sure non-fighting game players feel when watching fighting games. I also got friends who barely play games to watch a match of LOL vs UMVC. they could barely understand both but they figured out who was winning with marvel by the life bar getting deleted when Vergil came in.
Last week I played LoL again for the first time in years. There's so much you need to know before you can even begin to understand/play the game. Champion abilities, items, runes, map objectives etc. It felt like I would need to spend hours online reading up on things and watching tutorials and I don't want that. I uninstalled the game yesterday.
Only in terms of netcode, not in terms of any evolution in how the games are made. Still the same imbalances, same wonky hit/hurt boxes we have had for decades. It is like the devs purposely make characters some "broken" and others not so much. Like they don't know the impact a move can have until it is too late to change it.
I think this this will be great for fighting games. I have been playing league for years!!! It will be interesting to see what they do and this makes me super excited. The character pool is so big and they all have signature moves. I knew this day would come and I hope it turns out to be a great game over all :D
9:07 To me I got the impression that it's going to be like FighterZ in the sense of having very simple controls and a really easy point of entry, with an extremely high skill ceiling. At the same time I can understand why you'd be fearful of its appeal for the casual audience. League (maybe not the game itself anymore) but it's world of runeterra has now reached probably the peak of it's popularity due to Arcane. Right now people are hungry for any piece of that universe they can get their hands on. Whether that will dissapate or not by the time Project L releases, who knows but I think League has reached a popularity high enough to gain the appeal from casuals needed to reach FighterZ level.
Super happy to see Justin's comments on this. I feel like I have to vouch for a long time player in the Riot community as well as an invested FGC watcher who has yet to play a fighting game. Like a combo of mahvel and cvs2? That would be legit, imagine a cvs2 with tag in combos and different grooves, combo-ing into your higher ratio character for more damage etc
I think this video wasn’t exactly meant for new players but rather for players already familiar with fighting games, to show them the direction of the game and some cool designs. I’m pretty sure they will later on release videos that targets the new players but that’s maybe when the game will be almost finished. I’m almost pretty sure they will release plenty of tutorials that teach the various rules. They made sure you can come from league and pick up a random character and use his moves without being hold back by the inputs barrier, but after that It’s up to you to be able to learn the deep mechanics of the game
That Ekko stuff definitely seems like it's for FGC like you said, new people will be mashing like in all games. They definitely aren't doing side switch time rewind mixups with assists etc
I feel like they need to contact Justin to help them develope the game. Justin would be a huge help. A FGC legend helping to develop a game would be amazing.
i never played a fighting game before but i really want to start practicing for this one, can you guys recomendme a game to start practicing? some poeple fount it similar to Marvel vs Capcom, is that a good game to start?
Try basic 1v1 then switch to assist fighters like MvC2. MvC2 is really fun to start with, but I guess you have to learn the basics first in 1v1 fighters. Try learning Ryu in SF games

Responding to your concerns on Ekko, I think it shouldn't be a problem. Look at Strive, you have Zato-1 who is definitely a hard character to play but every character in that game is fun and rewarding. I'm still playing Giovanna, haven't stopped. I think having these "FGC Characters" will be a fun challenge for casuals like myself, but also insanely fun to watch the pros use.
These brothers know what they're doing holy hell.... It already looks sick. And I know nothing about LOL but I'm a fan of that time character jeeezzzz 🤌🏾👌🏾🔥
As a fighting game player you can instantly tell that some of the moves in this showcase have high level concepts for beginners. But a beginner is just gonna look at the gameplay and think it looks cool. They wouldn't even know what a cross up is, therefore wouldn't get confused by the trailer.
Yo. I am STOKED! I've played a couple FGC recently...but none made me want to grind to get a lot better. I mean i am above average naturally. But grinding to get top tier player? Requires too much time. I love to play other game too...But this game...might make me commit! Lets see.

They made sure you can come from league and pick up a random character and use his moves without being hold back by the inputs barrier, but after that
It’s up to you to be able to learn the deep mechanics of the game
You know Justin is getting serious when a single ear cup comes off
Love the art style
So Justin when the Beta comes out for this game are you doing first to 10 sets.
Ekko's cinematic was released in 2019, he's been in League since 2015 hahaha
That Ekko stuff definitely seems like it's for FGC like you said, new people will be mashing like in all games. They definitely aren't doing side switch time rewind mixups with assists etc
The skill cap on this one looks real, like mvc1 and 2 meets ggx
I feel like they need to contact Justin to help them develope the game. Justin would be a huge help. A FGC legend helping to develop a game would be amazing.
The Cannon brothers are FGC legends, but sure more legends couldn't hurt
I'm so ready for this game
I like how Justin acts like BB: Tag does not exist. The game is similar to that.
Its like 5 years old
@@RaptureHead1993 right lol
0:51 playing on a keyboard. I wonder if this will be Hitbox compatible.
Not familiar with LoL at all, but this interests me.
Justin arent you playing the kof beta. Its honestly so good I'd love to see what you do and get your views on it
The people who have put in the time to get good at league are more than capable of putting in the time to get good at fighting games.
i never played a fighting game before but i really want to start practicing for this one, can you guys recomendme a game to start practicing? some poeple fount it similar to Marvel vs Capcom, is that a good game to start?
Try basic 1v1 then switch to assist fighters like MvC2. MvC2 is really fun to start with, but I guess you have to learn the basics first in 1v1 fighters. Try learning Ryu in SF games
@@housegold2081 thanks man, street figthers then
marvel vs street fighter started the assist thingy ryt?
Justin Wong just gave a shoutout to Offline TV and Pokimane... like whut?! Yo' get on that Offline TV podcast and speak your thoughts about FGC, Pokimane and her co-owner of EVO, and Project L.

Called it.

You're the king of gaming
These brothers know what they're doing holy hell.... It already looks sick. And I know nothing about LOL but I'm a fan of that time character jeeezzzz 🤌🏾👌🏾🔥
Ekko was released in 2015
As a fighting game player you can instantly tell that some of the moves in this showcase have high level concepts for beginners. But a beginner is just gonna look at the gameplay and think it looks cool. They wouldn't even know what a cross up is, therefore wouldn't get confused by the trailer.
Looks really good
Damn, this actually looks sick. I don't play LoL or any of those games, but this looks great.
Yo. I am STOKED! I've played a couple FGC recently...but none made me want to grind to get a lot better. I mean i am above average naturally. But grinding to get top tier player? Requires too much time. I love to play other game too...But this game...might make me commit! Lets see.
Don't think this will attract too many casuals or people that have been avoiding fighting much to be honest. Only few that really love league will probably check this out. Just like when their card game came out.
Their card game its successful it's the best free to play card game right now since it's really kind and without p2w
They need to give you and the Panda crew the beta so you can make that thing great.
