Omfg love crowbar. Was lucky enough to see them at a scary ass dive bar with super short notice. Best 5$ I've ever spent was literally a foot from kirk. Very nice folks but kirk went above and beyond and shook my hand and chatted with me! I'll never forget that day
Echoing the need for Thou lessons, you can't even find any tabs for them online, which is frankly bizarre considering how popular they are. Lessons on Changeling Prince, Into the Marshlands, The Work Ethic Myth or Smoke Pigs would be super dope.
I heard that before Odd Fellows Rest that Kirk boosted his Randall with A Boss SD-1. Sammy was the one who introduced him to the Metal Zone as a boost.
Ive been following you on facebook and stuff bit if youre putting this kind of stuff out Im fixing to join youre patreon. I appecriate people like you that go out of your way to show us the widsom we desperatley seek. Keep dooming brother 🤘
Jimmy Bower from EHG still uses the same setup as his old pal Kirk used prior to Odd fellows rest, which was a Boss SD1 as a treble booster with a bit of gain for feedback.
Using the Metal Zone like a clean boost does wonders to our metal tones!!! I use it all the time in front of my amps (SS or Valve)!!! By the way... Great job with the lesson!!! Thanks.
Great lesson Steve!!! Crowbar is the band that popped my cherry for Doom music, Dead Sun is the tune that set the hook!!! I’d love to see you break that tune down. B standard is where I live!!! Thanks brother, always look forward to these lessons!!! 🤘🤘🤘
Can you please do a lesson on high rate extinction. Thanks. I will look through the rest of your videos in case you already have and I haven't found it. Thank you for I have failed. This is also one of my favorites
great lesson ! love crowbar, thanks ! i still hope that some day youll make Pallbearer - foreigner lesson, i cant figure it out, and only intro riff is available on internet
Awesome, I love that you do this. It would be cool to do a lesson & tabs for : High Rate Extinction, Will That Never Dies, Self-Inflicted..any of those would be great. I was just telling my bud a couple weeks ago I can't think of a more just badass album, the whole thing is just great!!
Please do Dreamweaver. Thats the song I discovered Crowbar thru, and its such a beautiful version of the song I would love to jam on it. Big Fan of your pedals and this channel from the start. Cheers.
Steve, the more I watch these videos the more I feel like I ran into you once or twice when I lived in Charlotte. Do/did you ever patron the milestone or moosehead?
Is Kirk still using Randall? I thought I read an article a couple years back about him switching to an Orange Thunderverb. Or maybe that was just for his work on Down with Pepper?
Not particularly. You might need to have the nut slots filed wider to accommodate the thicker gauges, but the rest of the setup process is essentially the same.
its crazy how fuzzy this metalzone into a solidstate amp is. and here i am with an Orange dark terror, with a blackarts toneworks pharaoh fuzz, trying to get a fuzz like this
Curiouse do you have bought same settings as kirk. Like treble 4 ,mid 3 and bass 8? I seen kirk use new rg a couple times. Always wondered if he used mid scoop and bass boost on the new rg
Hello doom guitar players i have a question...do you guys have problems staying in tune when you down tune a SG guitar? I heard the short scale length is the main factor, and even if you buy very thick strings it sometimes doesnt help....
I have no problems with my Epi SG and Explorer, the grover tuners really help it. On the SG I use a wound G string. I don't find the scale length to make a huge difference

I always look forward to these lessons, would love to see a lesson on "Planets Collide"!

Yeah, that will probably be the next Crowbar lesson.
Hell yes!

Walk With Knowledge Wisely, Repulsive In Its Splendid Beauty and Surviving The Abyss. Thank you for all you do Steve!!!
Great tunes! Thanks Larry!
yes early stuff from the mighty Crowbar is the best..the live stuff too..the drums sounded amazing
Obedience Thru Suffering is for me their best and heaviest album. I mean the later stuff is good but the first album has a special place in my heart.
Amazing record for sure.
Symmetry in white
I heard and for sure watched Kirk playing these riffs lots of times, nearly know how he plays it.
Would love to see "Existence is Punishment", or maybe some 16!
To Build a Mountain would be great for the next one, such a brutal song. btw love your content Steve, greetings from Switzerland🤘
I heard that before Odd Fellows Rest that Kirk boosted his Randall with A Boss SD-1. Sammy was the one who introduced him to the Metal Zone as a boost.
That could be true! Sammy definitely introduced him to the Metalzone.
Doesn't matter, just keep doing Crowbar songs, so many great, great riffs.
Dude. Thank you. I cant find tabs or hardly anything on this song. I love this damn song. 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Glad to hear that man! Hoped the lesson worked well for you.

It Pours From Me and Planets Collide! Thanks for doing Crowbar lessons!
Going to TAB out Planets Collide soon for sure.
None Heavier!!! Tune low play slow!! Looking forward to a new crowbar album this year 🤘🤘
Thank you for that - another unbeatable classic from the days of my youth.
Such a classic!! Glad you liked the lesson.
Nice 🙌🙌. Awesome seeing these broken down not just played or covers.
Glad you dig it Jamie!
I'd really like to see you break down "It Pours From Me"
Using the Metal Zone like a clean boost does wonders to our metal tones!!! I use it all the time in front of my amps (SS or Valve)!!! By the way... Great job with the lesson!!! Thanks.
I just posted this on the Crowbar fans United page Kirk said you nailed it!!!!! 🤘
That’s awesome!!! Kirk is the man!
@@DoesItDoom i can try and send you the screenshot or just join the group 🤘🤘 he’s not wrong thanks for uploading Crowbar
@@beardofdoomnola9056 thanks for letting me know!! Just saw his comment. Glad we were able to put together an accurate lesson!
Awesome! Maybe some Thou lessons? They songs are pretty interesting in terms of guitar playing:)

Great lesson!!
Thanks buddy!
Love this tone you are getting here
Thanks man. Doing my best to get the classic crowbar sound.
Please make a Lesson about Crowbar "Holding nothing"
Great lesson! Would love to hear a song like Nothing - very dense and kinda difficult to pick notes out through that wall of distortion.
after your preamp pedals already made it would be interesting to make one with the randall rg as an example and a metal zone like crowbar
“Through a Wall of Tears”, or “Nothing “.
Love this channel! How about "through the ashes"?
Great suggestion!
I would love to see a lesson on Empty Room
Nice lesson, helped me a lot!
But can you do a lesson on Symbolic Suicide?
Glad to hear that. You can drop the request at the link in the description. 🤘🏻🤘🏻
😮Planets collide !!!! Awesome jam man ...bad ass video

Thanks so much, Rob! Great suggestion.
Thanks for the lesson, mane.
Thanks for watching. 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
High Rate Extinction!!!!!! That riff hits harder than a freight train
Would love to hear It's all in the gravity. .
Could you make a lesson on the crowbar song "walk with knowledge wisely"? Or "the law" and "the dirge" by exhorder?
Thanks for the video, man. Ever a good job.
Thanks for watching man!

This just brightened up my dreary Sunday afternoon!
Awesome, dude-many thanks!!! 🎸🎸🎸
Glad to hear that Alan!
Protectors of the Shrine and Wealth of Empathy would be excellent to cover some day!
Scattered pieces lay could be awesome!
Yes!!
I think crowbar uses used much hotter pick ups JB or EMG stuff, but the PAF guys in that SG still caught the vibe regardless. That's cool to hear .
Definitely hotter pickups in Crowbar. 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻

Is Kirk still using Randall? I thought I read an article a couple years back about him switching to an Orange Thunderverb. Or maybe that was just for his work on Down with Pepper?
Yes, Randall with Crowbar.
With a Metal Zone as a boost?
@@chilidem yep. Checkout my interview with him from earlier this year here on the channel for a detailed discussion.
@@DoesItDoom I seen an interview elsewhere with Kirk where he acknowledges the Metal Zone is a piece of shit but works good as a clean boost.
I AM FOREVER! i go blind head banging at the break down... not even sorry.
I love that song. It's what compelled me to buy the album back in the day.
Love it so much, still after all this time.
Loving the jam , I have failed.....
Is it hard to get the SG set up for low tuning with heavy strings? I have an SG Special’07
Not particularly. You might need to have the nut slots filed wider to accommodate the thicker gauges, but the rest of the setup process is essentially the same.
Thought kirk played orange?
its crazy how fuzzy this metalzone into a solidstate amp is. and here i am with an Orange dark terror, with a blackarts toneworks pharaoh fuzz, trying to get a fuzz like this
Finally got a digitech drop pedal !
Curiouse do you have bought same settings as kirk. Like treble 4 ,mid 3 and bass 8? I seen kirk use new rg a couple times. Always wondered if he used mid scoop and bass boost on the new rg
Yes, but I have the presence dialed back for the direct recording here. Kirk runs his presence at max.
@@DoesItDoom What I thought. No mid scoop or bass scoop?
@@colbyfahr5738 probably right around what you said from what I recall. 4, 3, 8.

Counting Daze, Walk With Knowledge Wisely, To Build A Mountain
Kirk started using Orange crush 120 heads awhile back, did he go back to using Randall SS amps?
He used them for a brief time live but has never stopped using the Randall’s. He no longer uses the Orange.
@@DoesItDoom Oh ok, I've always loved his tone and I knew he used both amps but wasn't sure what he uses today. Plus I believe he's back in DOWN.

Hello doom guitar players i have a question...do you guys have problems staying in tune when you down tune a SG guitar? I heard the short scale length is the main factor, and even if you buy very thick strings it sometimes doesnt help....
It’s really tough, especially if you have an Epiphone SG. Wish I had a solution, too.
I have no problems with my Epi SG and Explorer, the grover tuners really help it. On the SG I use a wound G string. I don't find the scale length to make a huge difference
The nut slots and bridge slots make matters the most regarding tuning, even in low tunings.
Maybe buried once again lesson?
