- Martin Luther's Beer Reformation -- Beer History
Martin Luther not only caused a religious revolution in Europe, but most people don't know he also caused a beer revolution. Martin Luther's Beer Reformation led to hopped beer being popularized across middle Europe and changed the way we brewed and viewed beer ever since. Hats off to you Martin Luther!
As a Lutheran and beer drinker let me tell you this is a great video! Good job 😀
I grew up going to a Presbyterian church when I was younger. Every year around October they would go over the history of Martin Luther. Never once did they mention anything about beer. Very cool stuff.
Alas, not enough beer history covered when we're young haha. Cheers!
Yet another great, fascinating video. Cheers.
Thanks so much, Cheers!
Funny how one person speaking up can make a huge difference in the world of beer!
Prob my favorite video that you have done. History and Beer are two of my favorite things! Cheers!
Thanks so much! Love a good beer history lesson. cheers!
1:30 Poppy in beer. Oh god lol. That would be some hardcore brew..
Wow, who would've thought Martin Luther had this much of an impact on beer. Super interesting piece guys, well done!
Thanks so much. Lots of our favorite historical figures really love beer. Cheers!
This kind of history is right up my alley! Thanks for the great information!
Awesome episode! As a Lutheran and a beer lover, I appreciate this
Nice one Ryan, history and beer really go well together.
Cheers mate.
I agree, love me some beer history! Cheers!
Really interesting history!
Yeah, even beer history has these cool pivotal moments in it like the protestant reformation. Cheers!
Good Ol'Luther, can we make him the OG beer saint?
Yes indeed! What a great guy!
Im writing on my to-do-list, to make a shrine to him
I absolutely loved this video, so informative! Your voice over is on point and your energy is very laid back. Your content provides a lot of value and I can't wait to see what else you make, keep it up, I subscribed!
Hello even Catholics have huge history about beers and wine! If its possible only! Btw catholics also 3 saints for beer one is st Augustine, St Patrick and St Arnold of Metz plus we have a beer in name of san miguel(st michael de Archangel) also Catholic monks during those days brewed beer!
I'm Presbyterian church..follower of Martin Luther ...But , it is prohibited drinking wine , beer ,any alcoholic is prohibited in our Church.

Great and interesting Beer History Ryan , i enjoyed it Man
Thanks so much Jerry! Have a good one!
Very interesting. I think of wine when I think of the Catholic Church. Who knew they had a history with beer too?! ✌🏻
They did indeed! Beer was almost exclusively produced by Catholic monks for a while. Cheers!
Woww. . . Very Good. . . .
Success! . . . Hugs!

Cheers! Thank you so much!
I wonder what his favorite hop was?? How cool would that be to find his wife’s recipe and brew up some Luther golden ale. Cheers Ryan great video🍻🍻
I looked to see if I could find it but wasn't able to. Hopefully it's discovered someday soon!
As always dang good vid... .................CHEERS
Thanks Tim! Cheers!
"Het Gruitrecht" (gruittax) was the church and the landowners. To fund wars and stuff.
Good old Martin, was he perhaps the first beer geek? Don’t forget to contact me so that we can sort out the details regarding you prize! Cheers
He very well might have been. Cheers!
Christians can drink beer.. and without conviction. great video
And thank God for that haha. Cheers!
Qui Bibit Dormit
Qui dormit non peccat
Qui non peccat sanctvs est
Ergo, qui bibit sanctvs est!
Thanks to hops. I dread how beer would taste without hops and just a bunch of «grout»
Nothing wrong with gruits, great style often misjudged tho but, would love to see a bit more of them on the market!
Hops & Bros can`t say I have tasted beer with gruits. I love hops to much
Try it out, it's worth it. They we're also used as bittering agents, you can still get that nice bitterness out of it!
It's hard to imagine a world without hops!
If you ever come across Fraoch Heather Ale by Williams Brothers Brewing Company give it a shot. It's a 4000 year old gruit recipe that is still commercially sold.
This guy literally narrated every line from this article and didn't even credit them. so I'm just putting this article out there so that honor is where honor is due.

The Bible bluntly condemns beer. Martin Luther wasn't a man of God just a philosopher.
where?
Thumbs down.... Really Really
Funny how one person speaking up can make a huge difference in the world of beer!
