I think u have set my mind at ease mine does the same every now and then usually when I'm putting along in first gear barely giving it gas it is literally the same noise
I didn't do anything to fix it. The only thing that I can think of is that when the top end is done most people clean out the power valve and then it has tolerance to move as its not filled with oil etc, so it rattles on idle. Been riding it heaps, no problem at all..
Just did a top end on my 2000 300exc and mine is noisy when you down shift and its anouying as hell but its not hitting rings or piston . I didnt have the keeper clip in rite at first but realized my mistake and its a little quieter . Guess its common on these bikes but i have 24 and none of the other makes have that much play in the system. Almost want to shim each side without binding it up so it doesnt stick.
My 2 stoke four wheeler makes noise exactly like the noise you were making (very bad when rpms are decreasing btw) when wiggling inside the power valve, but there is no power valve on my four wheeler, HELP!!!
so a question, once you tightened the nut, and did nothing with the bearing that also made a clacking, did the noise go away ? since the clacking could be coming from two points and one was remedied ? just wondering because the second point of noise you did not do anything to.....wondering if there is something that should be done there and what , if possible to fix ....
Mine sounds the exact same as if there was a piece of card between my spokes but it’s from the engine and only sometimes while I’m riding and I h e no idea what it is
Check out the clutch release bearing and also check clutch springs are good you could always try stiffer springs but my hunch is the release bearing mister ...
my 2013 ktm 300 is the same had top end done and now the pv is rattling but its doing it on idle and all through the revs and sounds like it's getting worse I thought it was the bottom end or something like that as well until I seen this video pulled the pv cover off and has the same kind of movement is there any way to fix this because it doesn't sound very nice??
I have the same clacking sound on my 2 stroke Yamaha DT air cooled engine. I already rebored the block, changed the piston, piston ring and "piston pin bearing" all brand new. The connecting rod is okay because it has NO up and down movement. The clacking sound becomes obvious during engine idle only. The noise is coming from the engine block. I just could not figure it out. I will try to change the "piston pin" as a last resort. Any clue or suggestions?
Hey . I just have a cr125 and I have the same problem at low idle when I rev it up the sound is gone . Do I mostly have the same problem as the guys in the video? I just bought the bike the sound is driving me crazy😅
@@mohamedmatar5004 Hello there Mohamed. Guess what? I finally figured out where the clacking sound is coming from on my DT 125. When I had the engine running on idle, I opened the magneto cover and Eureka! The clacking sound gets louder, so it is coming from the magneto and NOT on the engine block after all. When I remove the magneto, I found out that one of the magneto magnet is crack in half and that make the clacking sound when running. So, when I replaced the whole magneto the clacking sound is gone. My mechanic gave me kudos for finding the problem myself. Your issue might be different than mine, but my experience would be worth checking it out. I hope this helps. Good luck and stay safe.
lower rod/crank bearing. same thing that went in my kawi. thought it was around their on my engine.... she needs a FULL rebuild. ah, was wishing to hear it run... im not sure now, it could be the PV
Its been over a year and the bike still runs and goes with no problem at all. It the knocking seems to be a common problem amungst a number of bikes after a top end rebuild. I would agree with the comment about the power valve seals. But I didnt replace them, just fuel and ride.

and thank you for this video, i also have a bit of relief knowing it may be this simple of a problem i am having

Man… had mine rebuild and still have that noise this eases the mind..the mechanic don’t even know why it have that sound
Mine sounds like a bald eagle in a blender. Thanks for the info this helps.
😂
Power valve looks a lot more complicated than that on my yz but then I guess it's adjustable in a way mine isn't.
Sounds ghetto but shim it up with a washer. Then tension the spring on the power valve flap.
what was the result after this vid? mines been doing the same and has got much worse this last few weeks

That explains so much my 2007 200xc does that at idle
Can you pop the ball joint off and thread it down one full turn to add a little bit of tension?

awesome mate, think you just found by problem.

the my ktm 250 exc 2002 have same noise, how can i stop the noise?

Thank you
Did it minimize the sound when the clutch was engaged? Mine makes a rattle sound when idling and when the clutch is engaged it goes away
thats the clutch bushings going bad

+Matthew Warr I agree it doesn't sound good at all. Mine still makes that noise, still goes fine though..
mine sounds like a grinding table saw?
Ben Nollan 😂😂

You need to clearance your power valve an new seals for it
My 04 300 exc only makes that noise at high rpm
