Kudos to Pobelter for this coaching session. Bro did such a great job explaining everything. I especially like how he tried to draw parallels and find similar things between League and Dota. This must have helped Grubby a lot
for sure, especially because he used to play Dota. I saw the previous video and he did a great job at drawing parallels between games, which should have helped Grubby a lot
Not sure if you picked this up during the game grubby because you seemed confused, this is the "draft" mode you said you did not like. You can do draft pick in both unranked and ranked mode. (this is ranked draft mode)
Why would he not like draft pick? That's confusing because draft pick is an essential part of the game both in unranked and ranked. He has played league for like 2 months and hasn't seen the champ select screen... how... that's very surprising to me.
@@SoloaddsHe's still playing the champs one by one to learn them all. Makes way more sense to do a mode where you choose your champion before queing and where your champion can't get picked or banned if you are going in only wanting to play that one specific champion.
@@Soloadds as he learns champs he has wanted to pre-select which one he'll play and quick queue allows for that. It's not like he doesn't get the concept of draft picking or is unaware of it considering it's default in both hots and dota, he just hadn't seen leagues iteration of it quite yet.
@@Soloadds It's less so that he's against the game mode and more so that there are far more smurfs playing draft pick than quickplay. yeah that is why watching him learn stuff is so engaging. you can tell that he actually *learns* haha. and he is disciplined enough to not fall into terrible habits.

A lot of content creators like Pekin and Alois mainly upload content from smurf accounts which is IMO pretty pointless. There's about as much to learn watching a challenger player stomp diamond/low master players as there is watching a diamond player stomp in iron/bronze, their opponents make 87 mistakes per second and they simply capitalize on each one completely instinctually, most of the time they don't even realize they're doing something a player in that mmr bracket wouldn't think to do.

Saw it live on stream, clean game by POB but sadly his team inted a bit too hard! 😆 I'm sure it was good to see for Grubby tho, lots of good positioning and combos/target priority, catching waves on sidelanes, grouping for objectives, playing safe whilst having a bounty, etc.
Watched this one on stream, POB's a great guest, so funny how differently he teaches the game to Alois. Only thing I'd note is that high elo looks a bit different in other regions where games, specially early on, tends to be more about forcing plays and fighting a bit more bloody than here over prio advantages since jungle/mid tend to group up and fight in a lot of matchups early on. NA is known as the most low aggression region of the big ones so if you climb high, you'll see much more chaos in your games. That being said, as long as your fundamentals are stronger than your opponent, playing this type of game will consistently climb you high, specially on control mages.
This also isn't exactly "high elo" (the way it's usually defined in league); Pob definitely has high MMR but watching his bard and caitlyn play it's pretty obvious they've never come close to challenger.
Super nice to see Grubby witness high elo gameplay! I know he's been putting off watching this kind of content for a while. So, it's cool to see what he notices during the game.
very fun and educational, one thing that pob didnt explain is why he didnt play for drake, its simply because thats the jungler's job, u can never outsmite a jungler unless u have an ability that deals 1000+ (jinx or lux ult etc) which is not the case in every game

Hej grubby, i feel like pekinwoof would be perfect fit for you. His whole channel is about explaining his thoughts and teaching newer or more advanced players. He is also really good, but he really excels in teaching and explaining what he does.
The problem with chat being off is that you kind of have to direct your team in low ELO, because most of them are headless goats jumping around aimlessly. A lot of the high ELO coaches and players haven't actually played below Masters in so many years that they have no idea wtf it's like down there. It's a weird situation tbh, because Pob's not entirely wrong about it. MOST of what people type in this game is vitriol and/or useless, but there's still some value to be had in trying to communicate with your team...and you can always just mute individuals if they respond negatively to communication. (You can mute pings too.)
the bounty is centered around gold gained in a certain priod of time, and because is a kill is instant 300 gold(or more) it usually adds to the bounty every kill
crazy that after watching you when i first got into hots and then picking up league a few years back, you're now playing league :0 guess i can say ive been playing longer than grubby now lolz
The biggest difference to league compared to dota to me, is it's more of a battler. That's why you get so many differing opinions cause how you farm, or play out the game matters, but not as much as other mobas. The way people battle it out always mixes up what happens in the game and makes it unpredictable how it will actually play out. Which makes the game more fun to me.
yea, i agree. I always said that League is like pool and Dota is like snooker. League is more straight forward, fast paced and action packed, while Dota is more strategic, much slower and it gives you more options. I mean current Dota map is probably twice as big as League's, so its normal for the players to run into each other less. I still cant decide which game I prefer to be honest
Yeah the bounty system is absolute trash, one game i was down 60 cs, 3 kills, 5 assists and 2 levels in the jungle. But we took a good fight and I was able to cash in 2 small bounties, after which i was STILL behind in xp and items, but i now had a 200 bounty because of the gold swinging back to me, which they took so our good team play from behind was nullified and they just beat us with their wallets the rest of the game. It also feels terrible on the other side, if you are doing really well and have this big bounty. You are super strong so you want to go in and fight, but you have to play scared the whole time because giving a bounty once can possibly just loose the game. I understand Riot wanted more come back mechanics but honestly it feels terrible in solo queue. Like why even get ahead if you can just get behind, play for bounty and win anyway
A series where different content creators coach you would be fun(especially Baus lul). Nice thing about you being new is that you can get coaching from creators from all elos.
I think Grubby would find the guide by Thebausffs (from a few months ago) pretty interesting, since his approach to the game is different and gives very good insights on how to exploit the bounty system.
Loving the league content Grubby! Hope you start to grind league more seriously (if it's something you enjoy of course). I wanna see you hit at least Master/GrandMaster and I am 100% sure you can do it, worse players have reached higher ranks in the past, and you absorb information and improve really fast so I am certain you can achieve a much higher rank than you think. For now though, learn the basics of the champions, do some arams to practice teamfighting and dodging skillshots (always in 5v5 scenario facing all different kinds of champions, it will give u a good idea on positioning relative to what champions youre facing, how to safely CS/trade, how to bait out abilities etc). Good luck on this adventure, League is pretty fun if you focus on improving your OWN play and see what you could've done better both when you win and lose games. It may not necessarily have made a big difference in the game but it's really important to fix mistakes, so you can be more consistent over a bigger sample of games. Also, VOD review in this game and watch pro player VODS of champions you play and try and think what their thought process is can be really really helpful. Good luuuck~
He's already said he doesn't want to aim high on ranked because his main game is dota and hes committed to dota because hes learnt so much and hes immortal. I dont think he has the capacity to play two mobas seriously and to high ranks. But we'll see... I think he'll play more casually.
League is not passive lol this is just his team getting dunked and hes fed but he also has a bounty and doesnt want to int it he could have caused pure chaos mid game and probably should have done that to win but that doesnt mean its correct.
What Grubby needs to know is @10:00 if you do not go in there and "team fight" you will have at least 2 people flaming you and tilted. And of course if you do go in you maybe trade 2 for 1. If you can manage to ignore all that and then hard carry the tilters? You climb.
How are ppl saying in chat lol laning is more action based than dota? Have you ever played both games? Lane in lol is just farming and controlling wave for pressure, in dota you have constantly the option to tp somewhere else to help, constant fighting for denies, as supports you have also the option to roam, stack camps, fight for objectives like runes, fight for the lotus pool... Laning is extremely dynamic if you're not just playing position 1
I like that even durring the throw Grubby relates it to dota and shows that its just an every moba sort of thing beyond region and game specific and even still people say "this is specifically a league thing" even here in the comments. Baffling. Random fight for no objective without a full team when a little behind happens in every game. At least it shows you can always comeback in league. The comeback system is a bit too strong if anything.
@@dpad_ Nice mental gymnastics, teammates shouldn't have been caught up in a fight with no objective around to begin with, so yes catching 2 big waves is the right decision.
@@kane-111 i guess for solo queue you have to play 5D chess and anticipate that your team is going to do stupid things. you could argue that pobelter did what was the right thing to do, but perhaps stay with the team could have detered enemy engagement. solo queue psychology is different.
Will you not continue your new champion discovery series after these coachings? I hope you continue to look at them all as I think it was a fun series and helpful for you. Maybe you could do an A to Z?
I can't believe they lost that game. Baron play was a series of unfortunate events. Jax engaged when everyone was backing away. XZ dashed alone back into the pit for some ungodly reason and almost died. POB had to waste flash and fear on an already low Draven. Unlucky.
Grubby, i wouldnt say that in hots you need to follow sily team decisions. In that case (the same as in that legue game), in hots someone of course must soak and you team must just to not fight, but if your team fight and die that would be the same as in legue. You must just believe your team will not do the sily things, lol. But in hots sometimes better to join the team, but it depends.
Grubby I know you won't even read this, but what Pobelter did was not exactly just being a death-averse gameplay, it's that he did his best to choose which fight is worth dying for to get the most buck for winning the game, rather than just the fight. He chose right for the entirety of this game, it's just that in League of Legends sometimes you also have to pay the price for the macro mistakes of your teammates. You are correct that the game is snowball-y but when you're in the later stages of the game and against evenly-skilled enemies, a good fight or pick is all it takes to just end the game and completely throw your leads out of the window because of death timers, and I'm pretty sure you know how this feels since you do play MOBA other than League. Welcome to League of Legends!
you should watch the thebausffs soloqueue guide, it has some very unique stuff in it and some of the weird quirks you seem to appreciate learning about games. you can skip the items/runes part since they're outdated/champion specific, but generally there's a lot of interesting concepts in there. for example he talks about specific features the arcane gold bounty algorithm and how to min/max them, generally a lot of weird econ/tempo stuff that most people never consider. your perspective would be cool because the concepts might actually seem less foreign to you, someone with experience in many games, than the average long-time league player. of course you shouldn't overload on coaching/educational content, so you should spread it out between actual games. also you should do the thebauss video in conjunction with an actual top lane/session (but do not int). PS: lots of "you should"s here. sorry for that, I'm just trying to be concise.

Not sure if you've tried it on stream or not, but I'd love to see you try Braum!
Looks like Grubby is joining the Climb very soon. Cannot wait where you will end up and how do you take the game on your hand :)
Can't wait for Master xPetu
is that the transistor music in the background? so good man
A new aim for your next game. 180 CS at min 18:00 😀
2:05 my game just right now syndra adc
"That's League of Legends, baby!" 😎
running botside to catch 2 waves when youre fully aware that youre teammates are trigger happy and then brushing it off like its none of your fault
@@kane-111 theres no mental gymnastics pisslow. he started griefing when he locked vex into their comp
its never a correct decision pisslow
@@dpad_ he goes in with them it accelerates the throw - he played correctly, team threw.
Will you not continue your new champion discovery series after these coachings? I hope you continue to look at them all as I think it was a fun series and helpful for you. Maybe you could do an A to Z?
Love your content would love to see you play league too
You already know the game is over when draven cashes out 300 stacks + bounty
I think the last 2 nexus towers should get scaling tanky stats so it's actually hard to kill them.
Great game honestly ❤
Insane he got to see the loserq gameplay from high elo
watching better players play the game is the best option to learn imo.
Thats why low elo is more fun GG
Grubster try getting PekinWoof to coach ya! Dude knows a lot too and mains mid-lane as well.
I have been playing League for almost 10 years and I didnt know you can use F keys to check on team mates.
When is the tyler1 or iwilldominate coaching session 😂
very nice content watched it 15 minutes - grubby u are nice :)
I wanna see baus guide reaction
8:35 Oh my rank is super low right now. I'm just Grandmaster... :P
you should watch the thebausffs soloqueue guide, it has some very unique stuff in it and some of the weird quirks you seem to appreciate learning about games. you can skip the items/runes part since they're outdated/champion specific, but generally there's a lot of interesting concepts in there. for example he talks about specific features the arcane gold bounty algorithm and how to min/max them, generally a lot of weird econ/tempo stuff that most people never consider. your perspective would be cool because the concepts might actually seem less foreign to you, someone with experience in many games, than the average long-time league player.
of course you shouldn't overload on coaching/educational content, so you should spread it out between actual games. also you should do the thebauss video in conjunction with an actual top lane/session (but do not int).
PS: lots of "you should"s here. sorry for that, I'm just trying to be concise.
grubby is challenger soon
Tell me this Caitlyn isn't boosted I dare you
pobelter is awesome
What is the song that starts playing around 10:50?
Is he focusing on this game now or does he play dota?
i want him to see baus play
It really doesnt matter what rank you are in League, there is always that one bronze move that makes you lose the game.
