The website with the largest collection of Urdu poems, Rekhta.org organized Sham-e-Sher, a heart-warming evening of quality Urdu poetry. On this occasion, India’s prominent entrepreneur and founder of Rekhta, Sanjiv Saraf spoke about Rekhta, the inauguration of which can be accredited to his keen interest in Urdu poetry. This interest led him to fulfill his dream of creating a website where Urdu poetry can be read in Urdu, Hindi as well as Roman scripts.
He also said that he was happy that now the connoisseurs of authentic and finest Urdu poetry will face no trouble searching the Internet for genuine and exquisite content. Urdu poetry is entitled to cross the barriers of geography and reach out to its lovers who are spread across every part of the world.
Rekhta.org was launched one and a half years back. Since then, it has come a long way and now, this website has a collection of 10,000 ghazals and nazms of over a 1000 poets. In addition to this, the e-book section of Rekhta has an assortment of treasurable contemporary books and literature and also magazines uploaded on it.
Sham-e-Sher was a star-studded event featuring a number of well-known personalities of the Urdu literary world, among these were: Mohammed Alvi (Ahmedabad), Nida Fazli (Mumbai), Zubair Rizvi (Delhi), Sultan Akhter (Patna), Sheen Kaaf Nizam (Jodhpur), Abdul Ahad Saaz (Mumbai), Shamim Abbas (Mumbai), Azhar Inayati (Rampur), Mahtaab Haidar Naqvi (Aligarh), Khushbir Singh Shaad (Jalandhar), Shoaib Nizaam (Kanpur), Shariq Kaifi (Bareilly), Abhishek Shukla (Lucknow) and Ameer Imam (Sambal).
Rekhta.org is well-known for organizing these types of mushairas in the past too. On the other hand, Rekhta.org has also promoted and launched new poets through its series titled, Nayee Awaazen. This venture consists of recording and uploading the contemporary works of new and upcoming poets. In the present scenario, Rekhta.org is the most comprehensive website of Urdu poetry that offers poetry, interviews, audio and videos of celebrated Urdu poets. Rekhta.org has visitors from across more than 150 countries worldwide, this number is consistently rising. #RekhtaShayari

It seems that Urdu poetry in India is flourishing. After ages I have heard sensible and meaningful Kalaam of Urdu poets.

I would also like to appreciate the views and comments of Farhat Ehsaas sahib regarding superfluous performances of certain poets at mushiaras nowadays.
A poets desire to perform a verse should never outgrow his/her desire to create one.
