Question: How do I know if my 4GB RAM is soldered or not before I disassemble the whole laptop ? Some sites mention that it's removable and some others the exact opposite. Should I buy 4GB extension or 8GB replacement ?
Hello, thank you for watching video. As far as I know, ASUS X540LA has an integrated/soldered RAM. Because, I got this answer from customer care when I enquired before upgrading my laptop RAM.
Do NOT try to upgrade RAM for ASUS X540YA. Even though some sites mention it can be upgraded, it's missing the slot for the extra RAM.
Found out after dissasembling the whole thing...
What does your OS say? Like when you open the task manager and select performance tab there is a memory button on the left hand side. What is the number of slots shown there?
I have disame laptop,and after disamble it i saw that he does not have internal ram memory.One stick of ram was already inside and thats all.
My laptop is not charging after RAM upgrade.

@@xrtj_kevin update: I have upgraded my pc with 2x8rank 8gb 1600mhz sodimm ddr3L (16chips in total) ram and it slowed down a lot.
Then I have returned that single ram and took product code of what is inside my pc soldered onboard by manufacturer(check it with cpu-z or some similar app.) And ordered another ram with 1rx8 (8 chips in new ram) 4gb 1600 mhz ddr3 sodimm ram. And it works perfect.
The problem might be I had too much ranks or gb capacity that my system supports.

I upgraded with an 8 gb DDR3L memorycard, and now the win10 recognizes it as 12 GB memory

Hello, thank you for watching video. You can use 8 GB RAM with 1.35V (1600 MHz) to upgrade. That makes total RAM as 12 GB (4GB default + 8 GB).
