  • What’s it sound like when a master craftsman, an electronics engineer and a professional guitarist get together? Harmonious.
If you know Bob Taylor, you know he likes refined woodworking and pleasing sound. So when he decided to design an acoustic amplifier from a stockpile of tonewoods not quite right for guitars, he knew just who to call. Soon after, pro player Terry Myers, electronics guru Tyler Robertson and woodworking wizard David Judd were in Bob’s workshop and ideas were flying around as much as the sawdust.

The older I get, the more I gravitate to acoustics.

Sounded like a mic’s acoustic instead of a plugged in one. That’s awesome!

I would definitely like one of these. It sounds great and the style suits acoustic guitars to the T. And I have to be honest, how an amp LOOKS is equally important to me as how they sound. It is why I got my Fender A40 for my acoustic guitar (and soon coming "electric" dulcimer). That said, this new amp is vastly more expensive than the A40 lol. So it would only be an "on the list" type of thing for me at this point. Cheers!

IDK much about acoustic amps. I’ve never had one. It sounded great on my phone and it looks amazing.

Acoustic amps are about as distinctive in sound as guitars are. This is an especially sweet one, especially with Taylor guitars, I think. And, yes, it has to be the best-looking one out there.

No spitty tweeter -- very smart. Most acoustic guitars have useable frequency response of around 100Hz to MAYBE 12K -- so having a 10" speaker makes sense. I wonder what a larger cab with 12" and an 8" would sound like if you needed more headroom...

WOW,,, it is EXPENSIVE,,, The Fishman Loudbox Mini is by far the greatest acoustic guitar amp on the planet and it cost about 1/4 as much as this amp..

Could you tab some of those licks out for me? Never mind I'll just watch you play it over and over again, and see if I can pick it up.

Are their other amps that have USB+Bluetooth capabilities to output a backing track from a USB drive? That's an intriguing feature of this amp.

There are so many options out there for a good acoustic amp. Many have anti feedback / notch filters, multiple reverbs/echos, chorus, looping and harmonizing functions for voice. Most of the amps with all of these features come at a substantial discount to the Taylor amp. It looks to me as though Taylor is promoting this basically on how nice it would look in your living room.. Sorry, but if I have guests coming over and my wife doesn't like the looks of my 25 to 30lb guitar amplifier, I'll just pick it up and move it to another room. Paying $1,200+ for an amp with a mahogany cabinet and basic features may appeal to those of us with full wallets and large bank accounts, but I would rather save $300 to $400 and get a full featured amp covered in tolex. By the way, very nice playing!

Don't know if you remember Ultrasound when it was still Ultrasound, before Dean Markley bought and ruined them, but they had a PRO-250 that was quite the measuring stick for acoustic amps. I would love to hear a side by side comparison of the two.

Can't say I'm a fan of acoustic guitar amps. They're just mini, mono PA systems, and this one's a whopping $1200 (where I live anyway). For that you can get a decent power amp, a pair of good speakers, a small mixer and have plenty of inputs leftover for your friends to join you and run the whole thing in stereo.

Jonathon, wish you would do two things for me. First, as I have said, play kind of shitty so I can hear what it would sound like if I were playing. Second, you opinion, how would an Esteban sound miked up to that amp?

  • @DT-ml3xv
    @DT-ml3xv 5 месяцев назад +1

Dang that sounds good. Circa play bass Johnny sing treble. You get the Dreadnought sound without the Dreadnought. The Taps on the guitar come through like drums on the Circa. You got an acoustasonic? Maybe add an acoustic set for the last song of the night. I could listen to that all morning long.

Taylor makes some great stuff, but not everything they make turns to gold…and this is not gold, but it is priced out of the market!

It is too bad Taylor was really standoffish at NAMM 2024. The lady guarding the door was rude. Not sure why they did not want us buyers/users to be able to see what was new. I have an EAE D6-58 that runs about the same price but is battery-powered with up to 10 hours of battery at more than mid-level volume. I do not think this amp is ready to compete with that amp or the New Spark Live 150-watt amp (for Acounstic or E guitar) with 4 channels and a PA- about $499 until mid-March and then it will cost around $549 (* hours of battery). I used to love Taylor.

I kept buying Taylor guitars, and selling them because all of them had the same defect, a pickup that did not pickup the high and low E strings. I’m sure there are some that are ok but I’m never going back. As far as the amp, whatever…

The chasis is assembled in China, designed here at Taylor. Speaker is Brazilian. Cabinet and stand are made in El Cajon. Everything put together and tested in El Cajon. Channel one has XLR-1/4” combo.
