Glyn, this video and the Bridge of Wales video absolutely blew my mind! I've long been like you were, thinking pics on my iPhone were limited to just snaps. But, with the 14 Pro Max, a new iPad Air, and the Lr and Ps apps on board, I am really rethinking this. Of course, my Canon Mirrorless kit will still be my wedding kit, but for most everything else I shoot, I can see the iPhone giving my kit a decent run for the money. One question: I do not have a keyboard for my iPad Air; How much trouble is it to do things like invert the mask, and is there a good resource you know of that will show me the ins and outs in more depth? Thanks for all you do!

My iphone is full and i want to clean it. Because iphone and LRC are synchronized, i don't know how to delet images from iphone without deleting them from my hard disk. So i created another folder in LRC, stop synchro, move all images from synchronized folder to this new folder, delete all images from DCIM folder in iphone and restart synchro in LRC. Is it the correct way ?

Just a thought… instead of creating a preset, you could copy the edits from the first image and paste the edits onto the other images. Tap on the 3 dots in the top right of the edit screen. There’s a Copy Settings menu. It works the same as the presets, but it’s just temporary. Tap each of the other images and then Paste settings. Another thought :) You can use old wired earbuds as a shutter remote. I have the iPhone 12 Pro Max and use earbuds that have the lightning plug. Works like a charm - and also handy for selfies.

When I zoom in 100% it looks crap. It is however better image quality than it used to be and smartphones have become certainly more relevant in the photography space since their inception, but I can't personally agree with you whole heartedly since doing my own comparisons.

I really wanted to embrace using iPad for photography but found (back when the first iPad Pro came out) and still find it to be too tedious and limiting. I still use LR on iPad, but IMHO Adobe needs to work on better "workflow". For example, on a recent family trip overseas, I found it incredibly frustrating when I loaded a few dozen shots from my Canon onto the iPad and later, when I went to edit them so I could export and share, I found that most of the shots had been replaced with "Smart" previews as the original files had been uploaded to the cloud. So while I could still work on the edits, I would either have to re-import with the wifi off to prevent upload to the cloud, or just wait till I got home to export files at the original resolution once the cloud files had synced to my desktop. Also, the inability to stitch panos or HDR merge, lack of the calibration panel and, as you showed here, the tedious method of loading several composite frames into Photoshop are all further reasons why I just don't even bother most of the time.

I guess as this is still in its infancy we need to give Adobe time to implement more and more. The Smart Previews I find works well .. quick and also minimum space taken up but as for the other functions such as pano, HDR, importing images … it’ll come in time just as they did originally in PS but this will happen sooner than later. Have you submitted feature requests into Adobe via the apps? If you take a look at what’s new and what’s coming, the list of functionality gets more and more.

I once had an opportunity to ask a world renowned adventure photographer, ‘what’s the best camera I can buy for £500?’ The answer, without hesitation, came back as ‘an iPhone’.

I think it’s because technology and ease of use has improved past the point where we are creating substandard quality images with unsuitable equipment and it’s now more about capture of moments immediately. Can you imagine trying to take Glyn’s quality of pictures with an iPhone 3G

Well to be fair this was a well lit scene. Try doing something like this with your phones sensor it wouldn’t look very great. Granted the times are coming where a mirrorless/dslr may not be needed but even with software bokeh etc it’s not perfect and your phone can’t optionally zoom 200mm etc. I think there will always be a need for mirrorless/dslr cameras but a phone can take your everyday shots and you can print a few too with nice quality.

Long exposure option is no longer in the Lightroom Mobile App. Do you know where is hidden?

Ok so we are now going to see incremental improvents with each new phone generation so that we will have a reason to purchase the "new" and better phone. Phones will take better photos on ver 14 then 15, then 16 then 17 and on and on! However, it won't end there for serious photographers! Along with newest phone, we will also need to get the newest camera.

While smartphone cameras have come a very long way, there's no way they give you the creative flexibility of even your old D200. And they won't, until the come up with a way of providing an adjustable aperture for your smartphone lens.

There’s already the option for adjustable aperture and as for the not giving the creative flexibility … I disagree

@@glyndewis Not a true aperture and not the range of a traditional lens. Plus, f8 on a tiny sensor means higher ISO and noise. There is no way you can do all the things on a smartphone that you can with a decent camera. Not even close.

Samsung made Android based cameras that were really good, all the advantages of a phone but with a much better form factor. Too bad no other manufacturers took up where Samsung left off.
