I am surprised about not making access opening from the factory. Is this a manufacturing defect from Cadillac? Almost every other car that i know of with the same fuel pump location has one.
@@bluefeatherlopez7 The fuel pump goes inside the sending unit. The sending unit holds the fuel pump, has the gas level float, and has the evaporative lines connections and the wiring for the fuel pump. You can replace just the fuel pump, but putting an used sending unit back into the car doesn't make sense because all the other components might fail soon.

You shouldn't cut it open if there is no access panel, you should have removed the whole tank, its a bit more time consuming, but you wont risk damaging the tank or lines that way.
Your video saved me on the wiring. I couldn't find the wiring diagram anywhere. Thanks.
facts
Yeah it took me a while. I had to do some investigation myself lol
Thanks for the info
Good vid.
WOW IT IS VERY CLOSE, THANKS DOING MINE 2MORRO
I use Dremel with cutting wheel. I was careful to not cut deep and I still made a shallow cut in the tank.
That sucks, I got lucky I didn’t
I almost cut the tank too! 😢 It's so tight

I feel like they made this car very difficult to work on purposely.
@@kvcorr209yes they make it hard af on purpose so you have to go to them to get it fixed. 😂
is the 2007 the same
I’m not sure.
Hi guys
How many fuel pumps a Cadillac have? Hope it's just one. Than where's the cut out for sending unit?"
I think just one from my knowledge
@@kvcorr209 that's weird than why would a mechanic ask me to get a sending unit - instead of regular fuel pump?

Manufacturer should have put an access panel in to begin with! Shouldn't have to remove exhaust.....drive shaft and tank when it could be right there.
@@shawnroddick7523 I agree but Cadillac is still an American make last time I checked
