@@tweetysworld52 It was very unfortunate for Luna. He was separated from the Southern Resident Orcas at a very young age. He found friendships with just about the entire community. Resident Orcas are the most social out of every Ecotype. It came natural to Luna. Even though he couldn't quite understand our language word for word, he still learned our behavior, and vocals. Unfortunately, the one thing he didn't learn was how to stay away from larger boats. He most likely would have been around 12,000 lbs today. He was hunting very well.
@@imtheboss976 First the local government made it illegal for people to pay Luna (who was a male btw) attention although he was basically begging for it (it's highly unusual for orcas to wander alone, especially since Luna was barely a teenager, he probably lost his pod and seeked help). And eventually he was fetally injured by a boat propeller.
@@iLitAfuseiCantStop I don't think so. The regional people all praised Luna. I'm sure it was a horrible accident. However it might have been avoidable. If they would have been allowed to interact with Luna in save coastal areas so he would've known where to go for play time, he maybe wouldnt have searched for human attention elsewhere where he was risking an accident.
I can't help myself from crying when ever I even think about Luna, my god what a beautiful soul and such a heart breaking life, I never felt such a deep sorrow for a creature I never even met, who ever murdered this poor baby will have to answer to God! Rest in peace my friend, I will include you in my prayers every time I prey!!

This is the sweet boy that was murdered, right? His story is not only heartbreaking, but too suspicious. This whale, who's been living with humans and boats his entire life just magically had a brain fart and swam into a boat's propeller.... That makes about as much sense as me walking into a building on fire for no reason. He was murdered.
He wasnt killed on purpose. He did die accidentally by being sucked into a running propeller. Its not about having a 'brain fart' but its more a young whale who didnt understand the danger of what he was doing. Luna liked boats and liked playing with them because he knew boats = people.
This actually has happened many times before in the past and it doesn't only happen to orca it happens to sharks, Dolphins, and manatees so its not really out of the norm

There are great native American legends about orcas & man. Legend states they have a mutual agreement with each other not to harm one another. To just do-exist. Allegedly this is the reason orcas don’t kill humans. Either way, We failed to hold up our end of the agreement.
