This is one of the greatest rock ballads/songs of all time. Great break-down, well, that's what we expect as this is what you do, consistently... My boss has asked my to do a "jingle" for my work for radio (Now, local radio, nothing special). Now, at the moment I have a broken wrist, in a cast, and there will be 'rehab' time. But, I'm confident, as I have learned So much about theory, and Why things work from this channel, and others, (but mostly from this channel as it's relatable and fun), I feel not only confident I can do it when the cast is off at the end of the month... I'm Bloody excited, this takes me back 30 odd years, it's F'n great... Marty, I'm going to try to do this, if it happens or not, who cares. It will be a Blast to write this, to put into practice what I've learned with regards to the "theory" side... And Thank you for being a Great teacher to an 'Old Dog', I still have some bite after all...
There is a recent interview floating around with Richie and he explains a few techniques for the unique sounds, including the solo on this song. Your channel is awesome Marty!!! 🎸
Thanks for the great lesson. I’ve learned this from a few different teachers. Your lesson helped me recognize the finger board differently. Opening me up to new possibilities. Keep up with the recap at the end. Very helpful.
Thanks, this song always came natural to my playing style, just never new all the theory. Thanks for giving me that missing piece of information. i always use the 3 fingers on my picking hand to finger pick the downward run.
The best Lesson on YT! But as great as the Solo is: Richie plays it different most times. I have done several Versions of the Solo myself as well on my YT Channel.
Hey Marty Can you do gimme three steps by Skynyrd and break down Gary Rossington Into Solo that hybrid picking hard to get it to sound right Rock On Marty
Do you mean the modern Volume and tone knobs without one cap on the tone knob ? The squier/fender way to do it is with one cap to ground in the tone knob.
Generally speaking, a chord had 3 notes in it, regardless of order. When you start viewing them in different order, the fretboard opens up to gwt you new textures playing the same chord in a new order.
Thanks. Liked that this lesson doesn't baby us... Moves quickly and gets results.

Wait a d chord with the first finger on the E string and the second on the G? That's upside down to me!
