protection has been invaluable for my team during this meta. practically cancelling out poke damage during a choke push has saved my barb so many times
Agreed. I don't know why he didn't place it at S. It's basically the same thing as Lesser Heal.
I had it at A but dropped it to B due to the recent shield stacking nerf. I probably should have kept it at A. Maybe I was weighting high gear lobbies too heavily when deciding this one (how everyone brings their own blue pots). It's an always pick in normals for me.
@@MrHoodlinfirstly protection is 20 flat while a lesser heal with mid gear should do around 35 healing. Secondly protection doesn’t account for pdr so health is more valuable the higher pdr you have. Thirdly protection doesn’t prevent magic damage.
Nobody runs protection in high level lobbies
@douglastakle8242 not to mention, higher geared players will typically also bring their own protection potions. If you're gonna be chipping with a crossbow on fighter and you know you're gonna take hits, then pop a prot potion. That's what my team does. It isn't necessary. It is nice, but definitely questionable for certain groups and scenarios.
Something that I would add for the context of others, Requiem works with Resurrection, if you play with the spell its heavily encouraged to bring the perk as well because reviving someone with 50% hp compared to a sliver makes it much easier to get them back to full, you save a fat chunk of spells.
And locust swarm you NEED to use a strong casting catalyst, dont use a book, this spell shines the more damage you can apply to the spell but always communicate with your team while using it, dont use it if your teammate is hyper aggressive and doesnt care what you do, you might accidentally kill them due to their own recklesness, lets be real, this spell is the comparison of a long lasting grenade where instead of a burst of damage you are just tickling them until they decide to come out of hiding and run towards you, this is the ideal time to have a teammate protect you or keep enemies inside of the AoE while not pushing into it.
One thing about Protect that I think often goes unnoticed is that, like a potion of protection, the damage it blocks is unaffected by PDR AND headshot/limbshot multipliers.

I feel the ranged-mobility meta-hate. Being a cleric in the current meta is hell in singles.
A wizard who forgets to set their spells still brings more ranged damage to the table than you via throwing knives and a damn crossbow they can use for some reason. Even the barbarian has francisca axes. Wannabe-Aragorn can carry enough arrows to drown everyone in sharp pointy death, has good default move speed with no need for heavy gear even if it existed for them, and can safely kite you all over the map unless they screw up on their end.
Meanwhile, you have the 2nd lowest speed in the game that's only made worse by the gear clerics want to wear to survive in a world full of murderhobos, no mitigating abilities to remedy the move speed issue whatsoever, no ranged weapon or spell options outside of a small number of short-range aoe spells that are highly avoidable and some molotov-like items that are both limited in number and only deal minimal damage, and no way to cast any spells without putting your shield away.
I love the spell picks, though, especially for trios. Thanks for the video!
Hot take for Solo earthquake but pulling off a good cast with mob aggro on them is an intense power move, as most good players would expect it to just be a holy strike in solos.
Best niche use for bind would bind against a W key opponent for an easier judgement.

Super informative video bro! Confirmed some of my priors but will def consider running earthquake in trios. How many healing spells do you feel like you need for mid-high gear? I feel like I lose either buff or dmg potential when I run lesser, holy light, sanc, and resurrect (+1 dmg or buff spell).
It's true, you have to make decisions based on your playstyle, gear, and comp. I take at least 2 heals in trios

Bind has the niche use when mobs are aggroed on enemy players.
It's also a little more viable with higher cast speed.
Sometimes its useful in duos as it can throw enemies off and let a teammate dive a ranger. Also can be used to stall enemy melee classes while your teamate 1v1s the other enemy.
But yea its not the best, been trying to make it work.
I saw someone using it to hold players in range long enough to hit em with judgement

earthquake can actually be used to attack a player that has mobs aggroed on him in solo

Joe youre the GOAT but I dont think bless and protection belong in the same tier.
Its true blue prot pots are better than this spell, but in white lobbies you can completly invalidate rangers with protection. Its also more viable for pocketing someone in a fight vs a one handed weapon than holy light if you dont have it pre-charged.

As mentioned in other comments I do wish I put protection at A. I take it often and love the spell. Wish I had some teammates so I could run 10 spell at it's full potential!

i think the headshot damage negation that protection provides alongside it being a very cheap and quick to cast/regenerate spell makes it A or S tier in both modes
The nerf to stacking shields made me drop it a tier, but I probably should have put it at A. I use it a lot.

It's based on how the spell performs generally across all builds and gamemodes.

Hi everyone, last time I played DnD was like 5 months ago. How is the game doing nowadays? I'm a cleric main, (healer for trios) people used to have 1 cleric in the teams at least, how is it now?
And is it too competitive now? I feel like tryhards were rising the last time I played the game.

I still run the same build, but you have to play like a highly mobile assassin who can buff and heal on the side. 3 damage dealers, not 2 dd and 1 support.

Definitely should swap earthquake and locust swarm in the solo list - earthquake is almost a guaranteed kill if someone has 2+ mobs on them or is fighting either of the GC bosses. Meanwhile, a full locust swarm does about the same damage as 2 steps in earthquake, and even with tons of +DMG you're better off using holy strikes

Duos is in a strange (fun) spot somewhere in between Solo and Trios. Lots of things are viable

Res should be S teir. It is the most powerful spell in the game and the most useless spell in the game. It is useless when no one on your team dies. Every situation when you do need it, then it is the most powerful spell in the game. Going from 1 or 2 deam teammates to a 3 again is beyond powerful.
