Saiyuki Ibun covers the origin story of Sanzo's mentor/father figure. Saiyuki Gaiden covers the Sanzo party's previous heavenly incarnations before the events of Saiyuki. I hope the titles help you find some scans - it's a popular enough series to get English anime adaptations, so there should be some scanlations of the newer ones and possibly scans of the original Tokyopop US releases. Tokyopop did the original and Reload, but didn't get to Gaiden, Blast, or Ibun.

So this is like... 13 years late and you probably already know this, but just in case you don't yet... They're both inspired by the Monkey King Sun Wukong from the Chinese novel Journey to the West. "Son Goku" is just the Japanese pronunciation of "Sun Wukong". Both also used a staff capable of stretching a long distance. Just that DB Goku gave it up in order to connect Korrin's tower to Kami's lookout. Bulma is supposed to represent Sanzo, Yamcha represents Gojyo, and Oolong represents Hakkai. Crazy thing, really.

Where do you read the manga? It’s saiyuki ibun right? Could only find a few chapters online

Like actually though. Took me a while for me to get used to Goku in Saiyuki because I felt like he was a bootleg Goku from DB
