The Revolution Has Begun!
Mankind has moved into space. Thousands of people live on giant orbiting space colonies called "Sides." However, the Earth Government, which rules the colonies, is unjust and cruel. For anyone who doesn't know, Kirby Morrow, voice of Trowa passed away yesterday. He also voiced Miroku in Inuyasha, Bolly I'm Gundam 00, and was the 2nd Oceanic Goku voice in Dragon Ball Z. He was a huge part in my childhood and many others.
Rip kirby, I loved the games.

I do miss the 90's aesthetic sometimes. I know studios aren't equipped for it anymore but It would be pretty cool to see a show cel animated in today's modern anime landscape.
And that 90's grit with hue and saturation. I do miss it when anime used to not look bright most of the time depending on the frame. If only they can filter it to look like a cel production...
@@IAmInfinitus208 Gundam Reconguista in G did that. Though it's more apparent in motion than just with screenshots.
They still used modern CG and particle effects and all that but tried to make the animation and linework look like something done in cel.
What I'd like to see is how to translate that look into a shader for a 3D game engine

This is the first gundam anime I watched. I got hooked on gundams and would draw them out of cardboard boxes and fight them as a kid. My parents couldn’t afford the real toys. I made one out of wood one time and cut my finger, to this day I still have that scar. 😂😅 🤖

Elementary school days, this show starts 30 minutes after our class dismissal. I can walk home in 10 minutes but during Tuesdays our group was tasked to clean our classroom (sweeping, mopping, and rearranging the chairs) and I remember running back home as fast as I can just so I can watch the opening song.

Probably one of the most iconic anime openings of my life. Back when anime was a rarity in the UK, somehow we got this on Toonami and it was so cool to me as a kid even though I didnt quite understand the story. Anyway this song still hits hard at 33, it had to go on my ipod!

Yeah...our childhood. In my thirties now and these iconic anime from my childhood still make me so nostalgic..
I literally ALWAYS tear up when I listen to this with the video and Rhythm Emotion. This anime and others from the 90s really helped define my childhood and left a huge impression on me. And I mean EVERY TIME even before I click "play" on the vid, I feel like I want to cry because the art style, the music, the animation, the sound effects of the Gundams...it's just absolute artistic perfection.
This goes back to elementary school for me when I was probably too young to watch a story about what are essentially child soldier terrorists. Gundam Wing will always have a special place in my heart. I could recognize this anywhere.

The weird part in Wing is they weren't a crew, just really young Gundam Pilots out destroying military bases like a terrorist. But got to work together by the end and somehow achieve peace.
@@sainttan More like rebels. To be a terrorist usually involves actively attacking civilian and non-combatant elements. The Alliance would have porbably labeled them as "terrorists" for propaganda.

The year was 2000, this used to come on YTV after Dragonball Z every night. I wasn't old enough to stay up and watch it but I remember vividly the little girl picking up that teddy bear and thinking what a beautiful song this is. Glad to have finally rediscovered it.

Mine is a complicated story. I like Sesshomaru from Inuyasha who is voiced by David Kaye. I watched a video where he did the voices for Sesshomaru, Megatron, and Treize. I knew the first two, but who was this Treize? So looked it up and started watching because of him...I stayed for Zechs(as well as the story). It is now one of my favorite anime, no regrets. Sorry for the unnecessary rant.

Unlike most of the commenters, I just started watching this show yesterday. Had to look this up because it got stuck in my head! I may not have been alive for the 90s, but damn if the music isn’t still cool.
Crunchyroll finally giving some more representation to one of the kings of anime, the Gundam franchise. Few other properties get a full sized statue, much less one a full 60ft tall with movable parts, and lights.
Hopefully they can add some good ones soon, I've only seen Wing and IBO openings from their channel so far.
I know they have more on the service itself but not doing much to showcase it.

My youth right there. Watched this stuff every time it was on with a friend of mine. We would specifically see each other for the afternoon just to watch it, ramp up the sound when the opening theme played. We didn't fully understand the plot, but we didn't care, Gundam Wing was the best show at the time for us, even if it was just for the action.

Both songs for the opening are incredible but the having the gundam/mech/weapon sounds in the background just adds such a different level of hype.
In the late days of VHS tapes we owned the vhs tapes of ep 1-8 and we destroyed those watching it till we could afford time Warner for CN. We loved this series and always will.
Racing home after school and turning on the TV greeted by this wonderful opening was a moment.
25 years old and still as great as I remember it. Mobile Suits and Gundams will forever continue to touch those who love Mech-themed anime.

I loved this anime with all my heart. Literally the first anime I can remember watching at a very young age along with yu gi oh and digimon
Growing up, so many memories. I remember there was a time as a kid in school, anime was not really popular and I got picked on for watching anime and now all of a sudden its a trend for some people. My how times have changed. But listening to gundam feels extra sweet for me because I felt that struggle of being a nerd back in the day.
For me, the best part of the song is from 0:33 - 1:02 it has the very unique 90's era song feeling to it

Thought it was the coolest show ever
my family moved across states when i was about 5 so we had a long drive in a tight space, my parents bought a little portable vcr tv and let me and my brother pick out a few tapes for the trips. One of them was the first 5 episodes of gundam wing and we watched that on repeat the entire time, I fell in love with it right away and since I always jump at the chance to see anything gundam related

This anime still holds a special place in my heart. I think this is the same for many of us. It was just so interesting. A lifelong love of anime was born from watching this and future boy Conan.

I was like, 10 when this show started airing. I didn't quite know how, but there was so much history implied in this opening that it made me feel nostalgia upon hearing it for the first time.
I have and will always love this show. Brings me back to the Toonami days in the 90's.
