I know that I told you this story before but I will tell it again for your viewers. I was stationed on the US Aircraft Carrier USS Constellation in 1977. The ship had just ended a long refit many of the crewmembers were making their first cruise. We pulled in to Subic on a Friday morning. There was about 4,000 crewmembers aboard. Monday morning after just one weekend there was 119 request for marriage. I was not one of them, back then. I did get married to a Filipina 3 years later.

I enjoyed this conversation. Thanx. I am retired and live in Panama and have been here since 2009. Your opinion about the honeymoon period brings back memories about my honeymoon period here in Panama. When I first got here I was green and really made some horrible mistakes that cost me dearly and set me back financially. It took years to get over the results of my honeymoon period. I have met others that never got over it. One person I knew actually committed suicide over the results of his honeymoon period. When you are in the honeymoon period and things seemingly are going well, you are in no position to take advice from anyone. You have to just let it play out. Yes, it will play out. Hopefully you can deal with the results in a healthy way. Drinking plays into this as well. The more you drink the bigger worse it can get. Disaster can and will visit those who are not prepared. Panama is not much different than the Philippines in my view. Thats why I enjoy this channel. Calvin knows how to present the lifestyle and it is so real for me. I am on the so called other side now. Been in Panama for 15 years. The lessons I had to learn were just crazy and expensive and life changing. No one could have said anything to change my mind in the beginning. I had to go thru hell in order to get where I needed to be so I could begin to actually live.

the honeymoon period can last a long time but the cliff can be steep I just talked to a guy who was married for 6 years had a kid and was cruising on a 1600 usd budget. Built a small house and all was well till one day his wife decided it was not. At that point he lost the house had to start supporting his son who he wasn't living with anymore and had to start renting . needless to say his budget has been blown to hell and is living meal to meal. after 20 years here I have 100's of similar stories. buyer beware gentlemen

I hear you all talking of the honeymoon phase. So, are you saying that it is no better living with a Philippine woman in the Philippines, than living with a American woman in the U.S. ? Just tell it like it is, i want to hear it straight with no chaser.

I have been with the same girl 18 years so it is possible to find a good one and be successful and definitely better than usa. but if you are coming in green it takes time to know the game and the game has definitely changed over time. best advise is come in with your eyes wide open ..look for red flags and don't ignore them don't have any preconceived ideas of how it will play out. take time to settle in , explore before settling in.also have a transparent conversation immediately about kids , houses, family support and the such ..if she doesn't want to have those types of discussions move on. plenty of other things but that gets you started on the right foot .. good luck also lived in thailand 5 yrs and costa rica 5 yrs and is same everywhere.@@Slim1423

@robertmorison3137 Thanks for the advice. I really mean that. In the states, it seems like marriage is nothing more than a game these days. It seems like money or financial security is top priority, and marriage is just the tool to lock you in. Luckily, i have never been married but i wanted to get married many years ago. Glad i didn't marry the wanted i wanted and it didn't work out though. A elderly man who had been married 3 times, told me " You are the lucky one". I thought it was funny at the time to hear that, but now i understand what that means. Too many games going on these days, and i just don't have time to jump through hoops to please a woman. I think a man wants to be appreciated with respect and intimacy in a relationship, from the beginning to the end.

one of my comments got deleted and is important filipinas are like elephants they remember everything so if you make some promises while you are in the honeymoon phase they will expect you to keep them even if your situation changes . don't make any promises you don't expect to or can't keep. better to keep promises to a minimum especially early on. @@Slim1423

You got time to think about what you want in the Philippines. Maybe you're lonely or want a woman to settle down with. Just take your time and learn all you can about the Philippines, before you go there. You don't have to settle for the first woman you meet or you can just go for a vacation. The choice is yours, but it better to have your mind made up before you go to the Philippines. It is your life, and it is your decision. I almost made it to the Philippines back in 91 or 92, and it would have been covered by the miltary. However, my unit wouldn't let me go. I don't know if that was a good thing or a bad thing for me. I may never know. I saw some Philippine women at the clubs in Japan, and they are pretty, but they can be deceptive too....

@@Slim1423 I’ve met someone and we have been video chatting for a year. I’ve talked with parents, siblings and extended family. A great family that own businesses and highly educated. She’s single with no kids. I’ve seen her government document certification of no marriage. I’m not going to live my life replaying in my mind what if I had taken the trip or not. I’m not lonely as I have a healthy social life here but I’m looking for a traditional woman who embrace the conservative traditional role of a woman of many decades ago. I think I’ve found what I’m looking for. If it is what I think it is then amazing but if it’s not I will take it as a nice vacation. I’ve wanted to visit that area of world whether a woman was involved or not. The time is now not when I’m in my old age. I appreciate your advice and confirming that you should live life without regrets. Salute

The heat, and most of all the slow drivers, I mean in slow, when my hole life was about getting things done fast. In the initial months, the girl will accept your cultural difference to please you, but as time goes on they will expect you to follow their rules and that's when the arguments will start. The fun will slowly slow down and the reality of this different culture will be enforced and you will have to adjust, like it or not that's the reality. It's like any time you have been on holiday before to a new country you normally love the place and want the holiday not to stop, but to actually live in that place is a completely different story! Listen to people like this who tell it as it is not vloggers who are just passing through. Calvin's words of experience and wisdom are true and like it or not what you need to understand about to change and adapt to a completely new culture.

Medical City Clark, on Clark Free Zone, Angeles City, Pampanga Province. They directly bill VA FMP for inpatient and outpatient care. Be sure to enroll with VA FMP. Also Medical City, Iloilo. VA clinic only does annual physicals for those with service- connected ratings. They have fctor consultations, some prescriptions, vaccines. They. K longer issue letters of authorization for referrals to specialty treatment.

Otherwise. If enrolled in VA FMP, you family pay up front 100% for treatment, Ghent submit online your claims to VA FMP. Takes a few months gor reimbursement via check mailed to your address there I. P.I. best to have a stateside afdress for receiving mail on a timely basis. Lost checks. An take months before FMP writes a new check.😊

I get a woman putting that good thing on you but falling in love is hilarious. How can you catch feelings for any woman. You know love ain't real. I get pretending to care. Most marriages are at that point in the states but to go to the phills and say I do, then sign a document is lunacy

Become disappointed. Seeing things as they really are. Facing reality.

The honeymoon period shall never end or come to a finish of what the Chinese vessels are doing to the Philippines vessels.. And American navy is too frighten to lift a finger Because China has 3 times the Population and China has now 3 times the Military forces.. Eventually China will set up shop at Fort Magsaysay for sure..

hey there, I've been subscribed here since you were renting a crib with a big yard and a mango tree. dunno what's up with youtube, I'm unsubbed now... anyways
I just wanna tell you something to all expats who were divorced.
'have a drinking buddy who's been through many breakups (no divorce/annulment heck I'm surprised nobody sues him for adultery/bigamy 😅), has 4 panganay(1st borns), now he's complaining about his current partner doin' absolutely no squat, worse, his budget is mostly kaput right before the next paycheck 🤣. na I don't wanna be preachy to him at drinks but sheesh! I'm like; ah c'mon just keep in touch with yer kids, do yourself a favor, and move on alone! you wanna look for another toxic single mother and work yourself again to the old creakin bone?! we're graduates! after the kids finally stand up on their own, it's finally time for the "ME TIME"!!! go on a road trip! I tell ya it's battle-tested and proven... makes me feeeeel young! even better when I'm on lalamove to cover my gas expenses 🤣 I'm perty sure even foreigners can join in, tho you better learn a bit of tagalog (or ilonggo in yer case) to ask for directions 'cuz some addresses provided by the customers are a bit innacurate.
but if you still wanna go with a partner, please, not on drinking pubs. at most, the ladies there are hungry(metaphorically and literally she'll order like she's on a buffet, RIP wallet). my buddy's hunting ground is padi's point. he ends up in a bad company more than once. I'd go for cashiers/waitress at small local cafeterias and eateries along the rural road if you ask me.
