Why was there no mention of animal companion? That's so huge to not even be mentioned.
Also in early levels Hunt Prey only works against beasts.
IMHO 3.5e Ranger was the all time best version of Ranger. Pathfinder 2e has been a close second.

Ranger is one of my favorite classes to build. It is not only feats that you try to combine without direction as a fighter, or with stances from monk that makes you have some feats stance themed that are hard to not choose, it is a nice mid term with a bunch of options to any direction you are suggested to go. I would love if it got more options to be even better at shutting down one single enemy not only with damage, but negative effects and maneuvers, or to mitigate its weakness against hordes.

Yeah, some way to debuff enemies would be nice. Outwit gains an AC bonus against your hunted prey, which is pretty cool, but that's about all I can think of.

Precision Ranger, Gravity Weapon, Hunter’s Aim, follower of old Deadeye, if using FA variant, pickup the Cleric dedication for those sweet True Strikes against the big baddie boss. (Shoutout for Syncretism and also grab Weapon Surge from Zeal domain)

Definitely more enjoyable to me compared to PF1E and D&D5E, though D&D4E probably remain the spiciest in terms of class moves and options.
Ranger kinda lost some luster after more classes got flat damage features and “point and kill” features like investigator and thaumaturge. That 1d8 precision once a turn really falls off, and the lack of support for new subclasses or warden focus spells can really be felt.

It definitely seems like something that will be corrected in the remaster!

On good news: the Remaster will be helpful, especially if you like the Warden spells and Crossbow. A Warden Ranger will also be a solid chassis for picking up Druid archetype for any save spells. Twin Takedown/Hunted Shot + Tempest Surge will be solid.
I imagine that Precision and Outwit will be getting some buffs that they didn’t have time to share.

What about weapon, armour and save TEMLs compared to the other martials?
Do they get spells? If so, how's spell progression?

They're no fighter, but they're no slouch either. They increase to expert weapon proficiency at Level 5 and medium armor expertise at Level 11, which is pretty in line with the standard martial progression. They do have several focus spells available to them but they're mostly for the purpose of buffing your companion, buffing yourself, or have something to do with tracking or traps, so there is really no spell progression to consider as the spells lack either a spell attack roll or a save against your spell DC. Some, like Soothing Mist, do require a save if you're using it against undead creatures.

Good video, it seems like the ranger is always lacking in every edition haha. This one is pretty decent!
