It’s a small change, but I like that Monk gets critical specialization automatically at level 5 instead of making it a level 2 feat. Sure, you don’t get it as early, but it leaves room to pick other neat feats like stunning strikes or elemental fist.

I don't truly have any complaints about the Monks, but I think it was a missed opportunity not giving this class a few extra feats that supported Stance switch playstyles.

@@LightningRaven42 I was also hoping for a bit more stance-focused feats or features, but hey, monk is still great.

The low-level monk feats are all great, and room for more of them is always appreciated.

      Jade. Empire.

the loss of the Ancestry Oracle’s extra level 1 ancestry feat makes me sad. It was the only way I could come up with to build a Nephilim character with Bestial Manifestation and a Lineage - and that d6 finesse unarmed attack was useful when your curse called for a strike.

Grandeur Champion is pretty sweet. With a Lv1 feat, they can apply offguard to targets who trigger than Champion's Reaction. This is amazing for ranged attackers who often struggle to find a way to get targets offguard.

I... Think that one thing might be the best part of the adjustment to Panache.
    Look at maybe Demoralize.
Its still a one time thing versus a specific enemy.
We generally cannot Demoralize an enemy, more than once, (per PC)
But. Can the swashbuckler use Demoralize on them again, even though they have temp immunity?
And gain temp panache, for a turn?
Allowing you to use repeated, non stop, JibberJabber, griefing the enemy in a stream of Yo Mama jokes...
To sustain your panache basically non stop.
    Excellent.

Hmmm... I think Alchemist, actually had the biggest improvement.
And, perhaps, moved from one of the 'worst classes' (struggled the most)
To a very respectable balanced class in the system.
I'm not certain, if they moved up to top 3.
But they certainly are not bottom, anymore.
    Swashbuckler, was middle and unremarkable,
A mediocre Rogue alternative which, did not function well, despite some cool narratives trying to distract us from mediocre mechanics.
    Now, swashbuckler seems to function.
But again, they weren't really a worst class, just a mediocre middle.
So you wanted to try something different from, the Fighter or the Rogue.
So you got excited by the narrative salespitch for the Swashbuckler.
Then, you ordered it, opened the box, and found that the Swashbuckler may not function exactly as described in the infomercial.
And it just kinda did almost everything less effectively.
Now, I suspect we'll see more Swashbucklers, perhaps we'll hear...
"Do I want to play a Monk, or a Swashbuckler?"
    Is it THAT GOOD now?
    But.
    Alchemist.
We might hear, do I want to play a Ranger? Or an Alchemist?
Not certain we'll hear. Do I want to play an alchemist instead of a Rogue , quite as often, but.
    All told, quite exciting changes.

The Barbarian might be less of a damage sponge now?
With the adjustment of 'losing the AC penalty during rage'?
Are you thinking that enemies won't be aggroed by the raging savage in their midst, smashing their priest repeatedly in the face?

    • @RebelThenKing
      @RebelThenKing  3 месяца назад +2

Well, this one is definitely a "we'll see". I still think Barbarians are going to be up front and center, often flanked, often receiving 4+ strikes per round, but hey, every +1 (or in this case NOT a minus 1) matters, right?

I'll keep my eyes open, for your follow up in future on the Barbarian as it shakes out.
I'm less familiar with it premaster, so Remaster and Player Core changes,
I'm consuming advice and experience from others.
      It is an interesting dynamic.
+/- 1... Just should not make THAT much difference... In the grand scheme of things.
And I think that quite often they don't.
Except for those clutch moments when it's the - 1 Debuff curse that deflect the boss kills trike...
, or the +1 buff, that made that turns an ally miss into a hit or Crit...
Those clutch moments when we notice the
      +1 that mattered.
I think those clutch moments might outweigh the majority of times when it's actually the overwhelming advantage that swung the tide...

Shields of the Spirit seems awesome, i want to try out someday but i'm nervous about not having in-combat healing when our only healer a is a ranger medic.

    • @LightningRaven42
      @LightningRaven42 3 месяца назад +1

That's definitely not a good idea. If the party had more healing, you could go for Shields of the Spirit and its crazy bonker feat that gives an ally the benefit for 1 minute (+1AC AND the damage, doesn't even need to be in the Aura).

Why not? They're different enough that neither is a straight up/downgrade of the other. Both systems appeal to different people, and that's fine.
