By far his best role ever.
The dialogue is incredible, but the way he performs it elevates it to even higher levels!
I see Doc Holliday and Jim Morrison both in Val Kilmer.. or should it be the other way around
@@johnromero7492 I totally forgot about The Doors! Another great performance.
Val will always be Chris Knight from Real Genius to me. Great talent.
Definitely Val's great role that he was born to play but I would also add that his role in "Heat" was the most believable performance in that movie. I look forward to Mr Kilmer coming back as a veteran actor where he gets to show his talent again as opposed to being a "pretty boy superstar actor of the month" as his career was plagued by.
simon templar, 'the saint'. the man is engaging. i don't know any film or scene he's been in that he didn't hold your focus. he just has a some sort of presence.
Val Kilmer deserved an Oscar for his performance in Tombstone.
Yes he did...he was the best doc holiday ever
Shame he didn’t win one for that performance, he Made that movie
He deserved his own spinoff movie
Absolutely!
Beyond a doubt!!
Never has one person had so many great lines in one movie.
Precisely! 💯💯

Actually dude I had to like the let's just say battle by the tree and I love this scene too
His eyes when he says it!! LOL
he was fast with a gun. But i don.t think he killed Johnny Ringo I he was a bit faster than Doc.

History indicates Doc probably didn't kill Johnny Ringo as the movie depicts, but who cares?!?

I never get tired of watching tombstone clips
It's one of a few movies that I can watch over and over without tiring of it.
Mike Hall I had to order another Tombstone DVD because my other one stopped working because my family and I watched it so much.
Same here!
You can add Trinity series to that :)
One of the most classic movies and characters of all time. I pretend I'm him during poker games
The movie introduces Doc Holiday in spectacular fashion with this clip. It lets us know that he's going to be the highlight of the film. He doesn't disappoint. Val Kilmer knocked it out of the ballpark.
batman forever
They all did. Classic movie that you can watch over and over again.
It's his best role ever in my opinion, and he's had a few really great roles.
Yes he did! No one plays Doc Holiday better than Val Kilmer 😉
“Well!...... Good evenin’ then.” Slays me every time. This movie was the performance of his life.
dont forget that "well dont mind if I do" attitude he has when he sees the three piles of money before leaving and just casually grabs them
@@michelvanderlinden8363 Yeah, that entire scene is just a treat. So many little mannerisms and subtle things he says/does that bring that character completely to life.
@@michelvanderlinden8363 he has no plans to come back, may as well add robbery to the list of charges.
That never sat right with me. He stabbed Ed in obvious self-defense after he de-escalated the situation and disarmed himself. He took the money he won from his own table. Taking those three piles of money made him a thief. It just seemed excessive.
@@RedHeadKevin I guess he figured that since he'd gone that far he might as well go all the way. He was also quite drunk at the time, IIRC.
"Are we cross?" "If I thought you weren't my friend anymore.....I don't think I could bare it." So damn funny. His sarcasm was on another level in this movie.
The sarcasm exhibited by Doc Holliday could have only been delivered by Val Kilmer. One of the BEST acting performances EVER!
I see Tony Stark being a good role for him.
Val Kilmer must have an incredible lawyer - no jail time at all despite blatantly stealing every single moment of every single scene he was in.
Yeah, I'm sure the local police were probably on their way in their cruiser after somebody filmed the incident on their phone and notified the authorities.
He had two good _western_ lawyers. Both with Ivory stocks.
How on earth did Val Kilmer not win the Oscar for his acting in this movie is beyond me !! He was absolutely brilliant !!!
Lost to Unforgiven. Clint
@@roryjoey1778 No, he did not. Unforgiven was 1992. Tombstone was 1993. The Oscar Kilmer could have won (Best Supporting Actor) was won by Tommy Lee Jones (The Fugitive). Kilmer wasn't even nominated.
Should have played transgendered Dorothy Holiday. They would award him one in arrears.
"Where's your bustle?"
@@hotrox2112 calm down daughter
Kilmer was the best Doc Holliday ever. He got everything out of the role, and he did it effortlessly and with style.
Val kilmer's performance made the movie what it was an outstanding success...deserved an Oscar I loved the movie because of him
Boy. Val Kilmer had Doc Holliday down. Looked like he was going to drop dead any second but he was ready to make his adversary die first. Well done. Real acting. Academy award caliber. Thank you. Out done Victor Mature & Kurt Douglas in same part.
The more times I rewatch this movie, the more I realize just how good Kilmer was!
The amount of sarcasm in the scene alone should have won Val Kilmer an Oscar.
Kilmer should have got an Oscar. Such an underrated and undervalued talent.
Val Kilmer’s greatest performance ever.
"Wyatt Earp is my friend."
"Hell, I got lots of friends."
"I don't."
When Doc is on his deathbed and tells Wyatt to leave him alone to die, I always start balling like a baby. Doc knows he's going to die very soon, and he loves his friend Wyatt so much he wants to spare him the pain of seeing him suffer in his final few minutes.
Then he looks down and sees his bare feet and can't help but be amused at the hand he's been dealt.
I always got he never wanted anyone to see him die
@@centurion8446
In my hospice experience, which is of course not a random sample, between 1/4 to 1/3 of people will die alone and seem to prefer it to be that way, Even in a house with family members sitting with the dying person, they will wait until there’s no one with them in the room. Or the family member dozes off or goes to the kitchen, etc.
Why? No one really knows. The ideas by you and Erica are good possibilities.
I watched my dad die and I can tell you it can be traumatic if you are close with them.
@@Squre Sorry to hear that. May you cherish his memory.
Val Kilmer is 60% of what made Tombstone a classic. A performance for the ages. Kurt Russell was 30% and the rest of the cast made up the difference. Michael Biehn wasn’t too bad himself.
Powers Booth and even Billy Zane pulled their weight
@@jjkhawaiian Great cast.
You're really going to do Sam Elliott like this? BOOOOOO
Add Stephen Lang to that list....
WHAT ABOUT BILL FREAKING PAXTON!!!!
Every man needs a woman like Kate. Watched his back when the bartender was about to blindside him. Scooped up the winnings. Had two horses saddled and ready. ( And not wearing a bussle ) What's not to love ?
In the end we're just her meal ticket. Don't date an Antichrist.
He he.
I'm not wearing a bustle either....
I really didn't like the director's cut, which showed him basically abandoning her to go help Wyatt towards the end of the film. Yeah, he's being faithful to his friend, but what about Kate? He betrays someone in the end. Guess Kate mattered that much less to him.
At least in the theatrical cut, it never really says what happened to Kate. Watching that version, I always liked to think they either amicably parted ways or she left him on her own terms, when she was certain he was going to die helping Wyatt. Cuz abandoning a woman in that time period was really screwing her over, and not in a good way.
@@elzibiel During that timeframe Doc knew that Wyatt was going to be needing all the firepower and friends he had. At the time the war with the Cowboys started it was Wyatt and 5 others against about 400 men. 400 men that all had sworn to kill anyone that killed another Cowboy.
Hands down the best intro scene of a character in a Western ever (possibly in any movie).
Big Jake's a good one also, but as you say, this one slays it
"Well..... Good evening then." Still one of the most epic performances I've ever seen from an actor.
This was a great movie, made so because of the quality of the cast. But Val Kilmer stole the show. Like others, I was surprised he didn't get an oscar.
Yeah who remembers the competition for that award, not me.
Don't forget about Michael Biehn (Johnny Ringo) without him Val Kilmer might not have worked so hard, between them they made a classic rival team

They should give Val a lifetime achievement award just for this role. He should have got an award for this.
All the best Val Kilmer. You clearly imparted and wooowed millions with your acting prowess. Doc Holliday has had greats like Kirk Douglas play the iconic Western legend. That Val Kilmer is arguably the most memorable, is high praise.
I have watched this movie 50 times because of his performance
Absolutely incredible
Without a doubt Val Kilmer's greatest roll in any movie... Strong character and he played it to a T !!!
I can't get enough of that character, he's just badass.
Val made the movie great as far as I'm concerned. A great movie , good actors but I just thought he stood out and was just little bit of extra.😎👍
Yeah. I think the movie was already great. Val just made it greater than great.
Without Val Kilmer as doc, this movie is just good not incredible.
Wasn't extra at all, but hey, you're entitled to your opinion.
One smart lady he's got.
Lew Wallace, who wrote Ben Hur, said that when Doc Holiday and Kate were together, they were the smartest two people in the room, wherever they were and whoever else was there. As an aside, she could probably speak Latin as well as he could. And he didn't kill Ed Bailey, by the way, though he did knife him.
Why Ed, are we cross? As he taps the white grip of his pistol. He does this again as he is facing off with Ringo. It is his rattlesnake move just before he draws.
good notice 👍
"Say WHEN" 🔫
Ringo would have been dead that night in the casino if Doc wasn't around Wyatt and his brothers, he held back because of his love and respect for them, but Wyatt had his back if it went down, he was aiming that shotgun under the table.❤️💯

Val Kilmer deserved an Oscar for his performance.
Jeff Bridges finally won an Oscar for Crazy Heart but he should have been nominated for The Big Lebowski. In fact, he's not Jeff Bridges, he never existed. He is The Dude, just like Val Kilmer will always be Iceman to me. He was a good Batman as well😎
The one role Val Kilmer nailed and should have won an Oscar Award for. Shame on the Academy.
There should be a whole new award created for Val Kilmer’s performance in Tombstone. The “Academy Award” doesn’t do it justice! Even individual phrases & facial expressions demand recognition!
I AGREE...you know, we never give the recognition to actors who deserving portray amazing people in films...I was just thinking...it really sucks....because soooooo many awards should of been given out...who made this stupid rule that we have to pitck a handful of people to win.....? Then nobody else gets an award...oh but you were so close....then they get sick l or pass away never to be remembered for there magnificence....and beautiful talent...You know you only go around once...the least they could do is give a award for a job well done.....not alot of actors can do this .....look at today's actors it's all computerized....its just not the same...But these people hold all the strings to your life.....just sad....they do this with music as well....things need to change people....just saying..
Should go into the Library Of American film history as the greatest, most engaing performance in a western of all time. The work between Val and Michael can not be matched! What inspired them to both speak Latin during the "show-down in the bar? What made them think of the cup twirling to match Ringo's gun play? GENIUS, that's what. Kurt, who actually directed this little piece of history, REALLY knew how to get the performance out of Val and knew how to set up the shot visually down to the sweat on Val's lip.. Kurt rules up there too.
"Daisies & Huckleberries" Doc Loves The Plants!
Val is magical.
I say this with a record of staunch heterosexuality: when he's onscreen, you can't take your eyes off him.

Val Kilmers BEST ROLE!!!!!!!!!
The coin trick Doc Holiday is doing in the beginning of the clip is harder than it looks, but with a lot of practice it can be done.
Val does this in a few films. In Top Gun he does it with a pen.
@@jimryan4056 nice!
It’s not that difficult.
now that you mention it what's interesting is that's a thing magicians do. so, in this film, it sort of indicates Doc has capability with sleight of hand
He did it with quarters in Real Genius.
It’s criminal that Val Kilmer never got an Oscar for his performance in this picture. He was quite simply brilliant, more Hollywood hypocrisy behind it I bet.
What, exactly is 'hypocritical' about him not getting an Oscar for it? And calling it 'criminal' is simply ignorance based on not knowing the competition that year. I would have no problem with him being nominated, but good luck winning against Jones, DiCaprio, Fiennes, Malkovich, and Postlethwaite.
@@bauerj3398 There were some great contenders for that award, some of whom I wouldn't have minded, but TLJ playing TLJ wasn't the right pick. Maybe he just didn't have the body of work at that point for people to to realize he didn't do much acting in that role.
Greatest performance by an actor in 27 years !!!!!
There's something of Puck in that line, "Does this mean that we're not friends anymore?". The casual threat that both bring of unleashing chaos and possibly violence, a "You call me a friend or something bad might happen" attitude.
Dana Delany is one of those ladies who always looks beautiful, feminine, sophisticated and delicate. The older she becomes, the more attractive she is.
Yes, but Docs lady is played by Joanna Pacula.
Dana Delaney's character, the actress that Wyatt eventually marries, was actually 18 at the time met IIRC.
This movies had so many great actors giving once in a lifetime performances. I was never a big Kurt Russell fan but he played his role with command and dignity. Michael Biehn as Johnny Ringo was also a great role. And this movie wouldn't be what it is without Powers Boothe as Curly Bill Brocius ("Well Bye"). But man was Val Kilmer on top of his game in this movie. I was not a huge fan of him in the first "Top Gun" movie, but Val owned this role and this movie and should have won the Academy Award for best Supporting Actor -- I don't think he would have been considered as the leading actor in the movie.
What can I say that hasn't already been said. This movie kicks so much ass.
Val Kilmer should have won an academy award for this role!!!
I visited doc holidays grave a few weeks ago, every since then all I’ve been watching is tombstone.
Is he buried in boothill?
This is the same guy who played Jim Morrison and Mad Martigan. That dude can act.

Great movie, great acting, and Val was the best.
What I appreciate so much is that Chris Knight spins the coins in his hands in Real Genius, Ice Man spins the pen in Top Gun and Doc Holiday spins the coin in Tombstone. It’s just a thing that Val can do in real life and they put it all of his great movies.
“Well I guess I’ll just have to call. Cover your ears honey.” 🤣
First of all, I cannot believe I was thirteen years old and absolutely i n l o v e with Val Kilmer Doc Holliday, and second of all, I still cannot believe that I’m now fifteen and still as in love with him as I was two years ago when I saw this movie for the first time in my history class- I’ve never met anyone else my age with the same crushes😂😂😂

It's so badass that Doc is faster than everyone he goes against in the movie.
In real life Doc was indeed faster than everybody but it was also said that he couldn't hit anything, probably why he had two guns.
@@wyettastone I don't think anyone has ever actually claimed that who had any sort of knowledge on the matter. I'm pretty sure Wyatt Earp actually called him the deadliest guy with a gun he'd ever seen, paraphrased.

Such a hilarious clip. Slowrolls the ever-living shit out of the other guy, then taunts him until he can stab the guy, takes his winnings and just for kicks steals from the roulette table as well.
He didn't steal actually. He had a ton of chips, and that was him basically cashing in his chips. He just didn't bother to turn in the chips because of the time it would take, and the money he got from the table might not have even covered the chips he won.
