@tinashenyangari282 ahhh... if u like to stay and make money in Zim, by all means do so. That's your choice. It doesn't mean there is no money in Europe or other countries. No.
A friend once told me that he met a Cuban lady married to a Zimbabwean in the early eighties.. they had a very interesting conversation by him asking her what she thought of Zimbabwe and Zimbabweans..our new independence etc.. she had a lot of positive things to say but her main crisism was that Zimbabweans were extremely materialistic and individualistic and that, that would be our downfall long term.. when I think of the 60 years plus embargo/sanctions on Cuba ..they surivived it because of unity and working together for the greater good of country and citizens. Sanctions on Zimbabwe are a very brutal reality because the West does not want South Africa and Namibia to go the ZImbabwe down the root on land reform..South Africa and Namibia are the last white supremacist and privilege stand to be made in Africa..
I am Zimbabwean , live around many Cubans. I do not think they will share your sentiments. Granted health care and education are almost free, the level of suffering in Cuba is extreme, nothing to be compared to Zimbabwe. People make less than $20 a month. Unfortunately Cuba exported this to Venezuela too where a teacher at the worst point was making like $10 a month. Dictatorships are never good. The only thing that keeps people afloat in Cuba outside of the rations they receive from the government is the hugh diaspora that HAS to send money to family and friends. Not too different from how our diaspora is a significant contributor to foreign currency inflows.

On Zimbabweans wirking together, yes we have an endemic individualism. And as soon as we go into an organisation, either we seek yo lead it ourselves or embark on being hypercritical of any initiative and direvtion that's proposed.
I’m interested. Please do a video with a business plan. I’ll be interested in cost of premises we will farm the goats, cost of infrastructure and so on.
As a people we have individualism mentality because of the Binga syndrome and the major disease - of not being loyal/not principled and no integrity! I have my friends in Nigeria who here in diaspora, they bought land in Nigeria and they are into goat and beef farming. Every month there is someone from diaspora on the ground making sure the animals receiving proper care. So there is nothing like , the project will fail because of lack of supervision! I am seriously looking for like minded people to work with Right now in Mbire district Mushumbi pools area for example, majority of holiday home lodges has been taken by a group of whites who understand the power of working with likeminded individuals. We will complain all we want and I agree with you what are we doing?
Very true. It's not that there are no Zimbos who have started on this, they are there but doing it silently around Zimbabwe. Imagine who exactly are the owners of the mushrooming estates? They are being done by some of these people. Let's hit the road running
Deuteronomy 28:1-68 “And if you faithfully obey the voice of the Lord your God, being careful to do all his commandments that I command you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth. And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, if you obey the voice of the Lord your God. Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the field. Blessed shall be the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your ground and the fruit of your cattle, the increase of your herds and the young of your flock. Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl." Some will say phooey, who and how can one fulfill these commandments of God and be considered "righteous"? We thank God for Jesus for in Him, by faith, righteousness is imputed upon believers and spiritual blessings through Him to you. Z to A through Christ! The abundance of "false prophets" to bring confusion and disheartenment in people, where God has seen and heard! Thank God for Jesus❤
It's true , on the community part l agree with you .At our place we had no electricity for 20 years , then we engaged Zesa , on what we can do , So Zesa provided the Transformer and we did all the wiring and labour bill for a contractor , we paid $300 per house and as we speak a, we have power .We could wait another 20 years but community achieves results faster ..
isn’t Zesa’ responsibility as business to facilitate on the availability of utilities like electricity , don’t you see anything wrong with you paying for a transformer . what about those who cannot afford to pay , so they should stay in the dark . some of you people , you is selfish as fuck
It really doesn't matter if Zesa scamed them ... they did this for themselves they are the beneficiaries... point being they new Zesa has to do this for free but 20yrs nothing happened and they were the ones with no electricity
@trishmncube3384 - Most of these ZESA employees are running their own businesses and side hustles. You will find out that the contracted company is owned by one of them. Public service delivery from taxpayers money is denied so that you are forced to use their companies. The corruption in Zimbabwe has reached unprecedented levels. People are abusing public service and state institutions.
Community based iniatives will build our country. These are conversations that should be started and taken up seriously. Gone are the days when we were just servants and waiting for mr rhodes to build the economy for us. We need to shape up. Nyika inowakwa newene wayo. Corruption is the biggest problem in Zimbabwe. 2013 a friend of mine returned from the USA he had 500 000 US plus he started a transport business timber. Long story short by 2017 my friend was broke and talking about returning to the USA. Everything or every process everyone wants a cut specially civil servants police people in places of power ministry guys , most things are not available locally have to across the border that's time and money. l try to be positive but it's not easy
Wangu kuZim kune mafood shortages, have you been to rural areas and in some urban areas? Zim is structurally a highly unequal society, we have the few rich and then we have the poor majority. Most people in Zim are poor. That said, there are a lot of opportunities in Zimbabwe but its hard to do things within the confine of the law. Very hard to operate a business without cutting corners.
I like your way of authentically speaking your mind without clouding everything with politics. a) The issue of cost of education in private schools is interesting. It seems there’s an inequality gap wherein there are a few people who are really getting rich and some are getting poorer. b) Issue of access to internet services is interesting. Had same experience when I visited Zimbabwe. Some content on Netflix also had limited access in Zimbabwe. c) Issue of privilege is real. What I find interesting is that, it’s important though for people not to just use excuses on everything. Life one has to hustle
I think you have done well creating your own online forum, I would prefer to take this conversation offline as part of our problem is we cannot have open discusssions like this without someone interfering. To get around your IT issues you need to use a VPN, you should be using one anyway for security reasons
It seems like most Zimbos cant work together because we were never raised in successful business oriented households. Alot were mostly raised by civil servants who only belived that education and working was the main way of earning and income. Additionally alot of zimbos who want to go into business dont have the proffessional corporate and busniess acumen to add value beyond ideas, and those who do chase careers. Slowly as more successful black business grow, hoefully the business culture will also grow...but the tricky thing is how to balnace business culture with traditional afrocan culture.
You are very right. This is the time for us to study how to do business and expose our children to the same. Out there we are known as hardworking intelligent because of being bookish and trained to be employees. We need to change the narrative
The most pressing issue I see in Zimbabwe is the censorship of opinions and new ideas. It's not possible to openly discuss the country's problems, even with the intention of finding solutions. There's a palpable fear of offending those in power, as speaking out against the establishment can lead to persecution. How can we hope to improve anything if we're in denial about the reality of our situation? Zimbabwe has immense potential, but progress is stifled by this refusal to acknowledge the challenges we face. While some are profiting from the current state of affairs, the government must prioritize improving essential services like water, sanitation, and healthcare for the lower-income citizens who form the backbone of the economy. If we continue to ignore these critical issues, we'll see our brightest minds leaving for opportunities elsewhere, while Zimbabwe is increasingly owned by foreigners. At this rate, actual Zimbabweans may find themselves unable to afford living in their own country.

And NO, I am NOT a politician AT ALL, just a citizen who is objective. Definitely things could be better, but we are getting there!
@Tsitsi414 - You are clearly aloof and benefitting from Zanu. What has improved in Zim when unemployment is 90% and service delivery is broken? You think loadshedding and water shortages are an improvement.Have you ever travelled to neighbouring countries to see what a functional economy looks like?
@Tsitsi414 you are entitled to your own opinion, of course. But you are not entitled to your own truth or facts. We can have some objective indicators to measure improvement: human development index, unemployment rate, GDP growth, basic services, infrastructure, corruption, human rights. These are all things which are easily verifiable. No?
Yep, i am not a techie but that is geographic blocking and a VPN will bypass that. Only if it is government work or handling sensitive data, the IT department would flag you and end up in a whole lot of trouble. For his case, it seems straightforward.
I can confirm that I have witnessed some communities contributing towards services such as drilling a community borehole (including plumbing) and sorting out electricity (including buying a transformer & cables). It’s just that there is no platform to publish these. Communities can work together to share ideas. I also went to kumusha last month and rural residents are doing a lot do ma community gardens. We are just full of negativity as Zimbos.
Thank you so much for your story. You see I find it amazing that when some people speak, they make it seem like it's impossible. This discourages others who want to do positive things. Thank you again 🙏🏿
I realised its difficult to work as a community in zim unless you find people with a common mindset...many people from zim do not have that kind of mindset especially when it involves money...before crowdfunding on big projects with anyone in zim you have to check how they are on smaller ones....however crowd development in a society always helps a society eg a borehole it just needs proper management and by that l mean please with integrity....many have lost money through this......and its so sad
The problem of individualism is an African problem aggregate. The answer to that is in studying the DNA of Colonialism and how it dismantled African cultural attitude towards collectivism. And we need to figure out to reunite with that collective nature once again.

Good interrogation of the issues by the way.The issue of concern is that the economy should create employment and promote private sector businesses through legislation and removal of politics from business. Second point is that the environment should allow to move in and out with your capital./money without restrictions .For example 4 years ago I bought real estate in South Africa and sold it this year….now moving proceeds to another economy of my choice..this not the case in our country..
The solution is unity across the people and demand change or force the change and only then will change materialize and also gain support for external powers
On sanctions, my brother, there are people who are so oposed to the government that even if Britain, the EU and the US state clearly, and they have done so several times in the past, that anti-Zimbabwe ssnctions are in place, these people will not budge from their chosen position. Even when these countries stated they were removing some of the sanctions, they still wouldn't believe there had been sanctions against ZW, and some that persist to this day. Similarly, those who blindly support the government, will defend blatant, unjustified government failures on sanctions, even after most of these have been relaxed.

So the Cuban lady was wrong, it was the white supremacists who are responsible for all things wrong in Zimbabwe.
Not too different from how our diaspora is a significant contributor to foreign currency inflows.
....south africa, a country run by your own kind, is a white supremacist state, really now😐

Very true. It's not that there are no Zimbos who have started on this, they are there but doing it silently around Zimbabwe. Imagine who exactly are the owners of the mushrooming estates? They are being done by some of these people.
Let's hit the road running

“And if you faithfully obey the voice of the Lord your God, being careful to do all his commandments that I command you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth. Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl."

That's not community spirit, you were scammed. Taxpayers money should pay for electrical installation. ZESA scammed you and you didn't even see it.
It really doesn't matter if Zesa scamed them ... they did this for themselves they are the beneficiaries... point being they new Zesa has to do this for free but 20yrs nothing happened and they were the ones with no electricity
@trishmncube3384 - That's because you are ZanuPF and you are benefiting from corruption.
@trishmncube3384 - Most of these ZESA employees are running their own businesses and side hustles. You will find out that the contracted company is owned by one of them.
You hit the nail on the head❤️💪🏾
I like your way of authentically speaking your mind without clouding everything with politics.
a) The issue of cost of education in private schools is interesting. It seems there’s an inequality gap wherein there are a few people who are really getting rich and some are getting poorer.
b) Issue of access to internet services is interesting. Had same experience when I visited Zimbabwe. Some content on Netflix also had limited access in Zimbabwe.
c) Issue of privilege is real. What I find interesting is that, it’s important though for people not to just use excuses on everything. Life one has to hustle
