These are very true words. I had a kid in bootcamp with me who was 5'6 110 pounds. He was the smallest and weakest in our platoon but he had the most heart and never gave up and he's a marine now. It really is all about the mindset you have.
Pyro xReaper as my corporal says "if you want to run then run" essentually its saying if you want something do the hard work don't go on treadmills saying "i'll run properly next week" cause it never comes just jump in and get going
Wanna cut time off? Try this worked for me do sprints but SPRINT DOWN JOG BACK and then when u run that mile treat it like that save ur breath upon the jogging phases then hit the after burners and go works for me idk I'm just weird though
i leave tomorrow to boot camp, i just wanted to come back and watch these videos I've been watching for 3 years. thank you devil dog. see ya in 13 weeks.
@@brandonavila3327 thanks, right now I'm on the fence about joining or not and I'm 18 and graduate in May so time is ticking. Plan on rewatching all MCM vids to help me decide. I assume your contract is up. Would you do it all over again?
Brother I wanted to thank you for these videos and your service. I really kinda felt like nobody would really relate to me in the Military, but I see things very similar to you and relate very easily. Thanks again Brother, subscribed and fully support your channel.
thanks for the advice. i kinda already had this message going through my mind from when i played football, but thanks for resurrecting this. i dont plan to join the marines, but i will still diffidently use this advice in my everyday life.
I think the best advice is to help your buddies with all you have and nothing less. That's what I took from my military service. I wasn't in the US armed forces and my service wasn't voluntary so I don't quite get the American mindset when it comes to military service. perhaps due to a lack of military tradition in my country. But I think the advice holds up anywhere.
I am planning on being a pilot int he air force. And I thank you for this it means a lot to hear it from someone who has been through it all, thank for your world of wisdom I will take it to heart

Hey DDG I leave for Parris Island in 2 Weeks and I appreciate all of your help from your MCM videos, it gave me a great insight on what to expect in the Corps.
Thanks for the advice I never thought it that way then I did a workout I nearly doubled max thank you again just a few more months and I'm heading for recon
both my parents are in the marines and i have all ways wanted to be in to. my dad is at 20 years and is a E-9 and was in marine recon it the coolest thing ever.
awesome Devil. You totally nailed it. I brought that mindset with me to a PT test I did in gym. I heard a similar speech in a Surviving The Cut. Great Stuff Devil!
Bro you got a looong life ahead of you. Joining the military aint fun and games no matter which branch you go into. Live your life before you start thinking about joing the military.
This is just not advice for the Military but this the advice for even Life it self! I was ready to quit University and join the army until you said "it's not about the challenges in front of you that stopping you..It's 'you' that's stopping you!" There should be more people like you out there who inspires us. Thank you for the Morale boost, Devil! :D
Devil, I'm a slightly overweight ROTC Cadet, and I have the same problems now with running. I always have the urge to stop, and it's like my body gives up, but my mind says go. I'm going to try to power through and remember what you said from now on. Thank you.
Thanks for the reminder. My wife died, The P.T.S.D., and all that comes with it. Just got to go in deep down and focus and fight through it with all you got and with the help of others get on with it.
I have not. I've been focused on making weight. Doing Insanity and running. But I have gone to the gym once in the last week, and I did an elevated Pull-up, and slowly lowered myself. 3x5. Arms killed the next day. Thanks!
Im looking to join the Navy as a medical doctor either after I finish med.school or residency. Thanks for the advice devildog! Fair winds and calm seas!
This is good advice to give to military hopefuls looking to join conventional units. As for special operations, the mindset is a little more intense I believe. I was talking to an ODA guy (special forces, for those who don't know the term) when I was in the Army and he said "If you want to join SF and have a doubt even once that you might not make it, don't even apply, because you will fail".
good video man, im in the military myself and i agree with you 100% a lot of people that i work with dont have this mind set, im Security Forces and ive been in korea and bagram (currently in germany) and every dismounted patrol or Air Base defense operation i have done that was physically demanding, ive always fallen back to this mind set that you mention.
Enlisting for Army hopefully next summer. Have very very minor asthma but I'm powering through it even more thanks to you devil. Keep up the games and great vids.
The MCM videos are awesome! I'm in the process of becoming part of the USMC myself and have watched just about every video I could find to help me prepare both mentally and physically for boot camp and the Marine Corps life. I watched almost all of the MCM videos you have posted so far. I'm just curious though, are you still continuing to upload MCM videos? I really enjoy them!
Thanks for the advice Devil, I'm hoping to join the RAF but I've had a slight eating disorder for years and I get into some really nasty muscular pains when I run at all. I hope I can power through the pain.
same sort of, im british so RAF but I think im going to be a chopper pilot then move onto commercial airlines. Trust me once your in the air you wont feel scared. if you truly want to be a pilot youll love it. and that's whatll make you good at it.(I'm also scared of heights)
You can do anything and all that, yeah.. But there are certain things that stops even the monsters of soldiers. Like when you have to drop out because your knee is cut in half in an accident, then it pretty much fall apart inside while you're out on training. So fun. If i pressure my knee the same way i did in the army now, it's gonna break. Worst part is that i was only in a boot camp that prepares you for the military. So it was like a training company that prepares you for the real boot camp. So that the actual recruitment process is just a walk in the same park you passed through earlier. Then i was in an accident and a big piece of glass chopped me in the knee. But I'm gonna try joining the Home guard, which never does any pressing and dangerous stuff.
Agreed. A lot of it IS in your mind. I went to Jump School, and on the 2nd day they administered a PT test. Noone was allowed to wear watches. Two mile run on a 1 mile looped track, and instructors were calling off times as you crossed your first mile. I was expecting to hear about 6 1/2 minutes, but they were calling out 9:15, 16, 17, etc. as I crossed. I thought to myself "SHIT! wtf is going on?! I'm gonna fail!", so I POURED it on for the 2nd mile.
enlisted 12 weeks boot 12 weeks specialisation if you finish top of your class in boot you can earn rank e-4 with an additional 2 years added to your contract and i think if you were an eagle scout you can earn rank of e2 after boot my contract was a 4 x 12, 4 active 12 inactive standard pay plus over seas pay and Hazardous Duty pay depending where youre deployed you can depending on your rate transfer your specialisation into collage credits.
I heard a corporal give that same advice to a kid who couldn't do the 800m warm up on selection. It stuck with me strongly as well, I'm leaving for my phase one in Sept.
I know exactly what you mean. I learned this early in basic (army infantry 00-04). I realized that the worst thing that would happen was that I'd just drop and pass out. After that I pushed harder and harder. I never dropped. I just maxed my performance. I ended up rucking 26 miles on a broken foot using that philosophy.
Yep mental mind games, I learned to just recite the soldier's creed to get through my runs and ruck marches. It works pretty well when you repeat I will never quit in your head over and over.
I wasnt very fit before I left for basic and I managed to pull through regardless. Its a mind game, everything you do is physically possible you just need to have a steely mind.
Absolutely DDG when i first joined the ARMY I could barely do the minimum of the physical parts and one of the DI's that was there came over and asked if i was willing to do what ever it took to make it in the Army and as i screamed out a Yes he grabs the coller of my shirt and hauls me to my feet and pushes me toward his platoon whom have already started like a week before and told me "The fight starts now!" and he never gave up on me, He challanged me every step of the way to to graduation.
hell yaaa wrestled for 6 years best way to prepare for the military try going though a 3 hour practice in sweats go to the scale and find out you cant eat that night to stay on weight its the best way to get mentally and physically ready its really a life style during the season not a sport i think its prepared me for boot camp i ship to usmc boot camp parris island in sep keep up with wrestling never give it up for the world no matter how hard it gets wish i had one more season good luck -Tommy

I suck at running and i'm going to be infantry. But this video makes me want to go run non stop even though i suck at it. Very motivating, thanks.
