- This Terraria weapon deals ludicrous amounts of damage... Somehow after all this time, there is still one Old Ones Army Betsy Drop I have yet to review- non other than the Betsy's Wrath. An extremely strong fireball flinging mage weapon, which despite having the damage output on paper, may struggle due to its place in progression. Lets take a look!

Such a fantastic mage weapon! Is a damn shame when in the game its obtained tho -_-

I think it wasn't a decent review cause it isn't the best main option but in example i always use it to apply the debuff like an icor weapon to deal more damage with a principal weapon doesn't matter the class chosen

@@Lftarded as a summoner sweat myself, i did that. The damage was worth it but the pain is trying to convinse me otherwise, it's failing.

I like Betsy's Wrath for being essentially a lategame Golden Shower. 40 points of armor penetration is insane
You don't really need to choose between betsey's wrath and other weapons, because you should probably still use it for that debuff
It also lets Corruption players get access to what's basically the Ichor debuff

@@oscarglad5284 yes, but you have to actually make a crimson farming place underground to get ichor if your world is corruption.
Some extra info you should probably know about this weapon:
1) It stacks with golden shower which ignores a total of about 55 defense!
2) Moon lord is immune to neither of these and because of that you can bring the eyes defense to 0 and the cores defense to 15!
2.5) The list of enemies immune to this debuff is very strange.
3) Betsy (and the rest of the old ones army) is/are not immune to this debuff so if your not playing mage it can be a good replacement for the golden shower to help get which ever weapon you do need.
4) The explosions cause the debuff and while the projectiles can't go through walls, the explosions can. I'm sure that's useful somewhere right?
5) Finally it synergizes very well with quick use mage weapons like the razor pine, razorblade typhoon, and bat scepter because they can utilize all 10 seconds of both debuffs.
Overall I'd say it's very worth using and can definitely replace golden shower late game. :3
Edit: Funnily enough, despite Sock recommending it for lunatic cultist, the cultist is actually immune to the debuff lmao. The only other bosses (and mini-bosses) immune to the debuff are the martian saucer, flying dutchman and the destroyer. (Bonus: the dungeon guardian, phantasmal dragon, ancient vision, [destroyer] probes, and pillars are immune. There are a total of only 25 enemies immune to this debuff)
why is betsy not immune to her own curse but the destroyer is 😭
i think the reason for why those 25 enemies are immune to it is because most of them at least are token bosses

@@modestmismagius105 i mean, being immune to most debuffs is kind of the destroyers thing. Besides wormi boy already gets bullied by anything with a decent amount of pierce, he doesn't need the negetive armor.
Fun fact, any fast firing mage weapon that makes up its damage with its fire rate gets mauled by defense. You can effectively add 60 onto the base damage against a boss up to the output dagame

The problem with OOA, is that on Master Mode, you practically need endgame weapons to beat tier 3, which makes the weapons much less useful in that mode.

as a guy who never played mage i can say that this weapon is really good for mage
Easily beat Legendary mode with magic build from Day One to Moonlord and beyond

The massive armor penetration seems like it'd give a stronger weapon a great burst of damage!
Yup i always usea icor and Betsy's curse to deal more damage with all the classes

To me, the wrath fills the same role the golden shower does (being a support weapon) and should not be your main dps weapon. I love it for the moon lord because it plus whatever other magic weapon you want to use (namely razorpine) shreds moon lord.
Imo a lot betsy weapons are so underrated only by one reason: "We are lazy to beat this event." But I ussually try to not skip it, especially her wings and sword for melee class.
I honestly always said that Empress and Betsy wings are better than Fishron wings.
And, as a (mostly) Warrior, I did find Flying Dragon to be really good. But the visual masterpiece of a Terra Blade is, kinda makes me not consider the Flying Dragon.
Prolly one of the best weapons if it wasn't just about the velocity and the fact that the moonlord is immune to it😢
In vanilla at least, Moon lord is not immune to anything other than confusion. So its very useful against him
I use it in combination with whatever my main weapon is. If I manage to get it, I replace the golden shower with it because most enemies and bosses are affected by both
Why not use it with the golden shower since ichor and miasma stacks giving 55 defense reduction
@@Lftarded Too many items in my hotbar, I don't like switching items too often during a boss fight, and it generally feels like it's not necessary. The time saved by stacking defense drops isn't worth the headache of juggling between 3 weapons all while dodging and keeping an eye on my own health
@@alexandergee4677 you don't have to juggle all the time though, the debuff lasts for 15 seconds... I've done worse with summoner stacking whip tag effects, 15 seconds is a lot forgiving than 3 seconds of whip tag, you can do it.

Good to see someone finally bringing attention to this absurdly broken weapon, this along with the flying dragon being by FAR the best pre-ml melee weapon makes betsy so worth it, and people refuse to realise that.
Day 2 of telling you about the spectre armor with hood healing doohickey. If you make three vertical chambers with 4 statues each and a nimbus cloud in 2 of them and a crimson rod cloud in one, you get insane healing. Apparently the raindrops count as mana based damage so it will heal you as long as you use the hood. With the deadly/demonic reforge you can heal anywhere from 1-15 per orb that heals you. You can make a 4th chamber and use the clinger staff but that only will heal you from the initial damage and not the cursed flame debuff.

i literally though "how hasn't sockerteez made a video on betsy's wrath already, it's so good"
For the third level of the Old One's Army I use the "Charged Blaster Cannon" to decimate all the enemies from the event until Betsy, for her I use either the Razorpine or the Bat Scepter to kill her reather quickly and easily.
This combo makes the whole event a joke (a bad one tho cuz it takes so long to defeat the waves just to get something you dont want from Betsy).

Combining this with Golden Shower lets you deal an INSANE amount of damage as any class so long as you keep re-applying the debuff.
Very sad to not see him mention the option of using it as a support weapon. Most calamity mage guides recommend it basically until calamitas it’s so good
Great for stacking with ichor for summoners in calamity to take on some of those tanker bosses :)

The Betsy's wrath is effectively a mortar cannon when I use it either that or a shotgun, stupidly powerful sadly couldn't hold up in the pillar event for too long

I see a lot of merit in using this as a support weapon for other classes. Summoner can tag a boss with Golden Shower and Betsy's Wrath to reach 55 total armor penetration and massively buff minion damage as a result. Any other weapons that can make great use of 10 seconds debuff time (fast firing weapons) will get great utility out of this.
Has to be one of my favorites ever since I discovered it a while back after defeating the army.
The day Sockrteez reviews the last Terraria sprite is the day the world ends.
It is so good that i always get it when i go for melee (since i would farm betsy for the flying dragon too)
The weapon is good and all, but I treat it as a secondary debuff weapon, at best.
The arching projectile is quite annoying, but I have a hard time seeing If the debuff is active. Ichor paint it all yellow. This could make all gray, or desaturate colors. Idk. But the smoke it got is quite small and gets lost in the particle fest that is endgame.
Stacking betsy's wrath and ichor flasks on a whip makes summoner playthroughs at the endgame an absolute breeze, same with rangers and ichor bullets, this weapon is just godtier support ngl.

This weapon was a fucking godsend for my getfixedboi mage playthrough. With the aqua scepter, this and the terraprisma alongside a dark artist armor setup, I was able to achieve dps that beats out most pillar weapons and even some post moon lord weapons. If it’s not your main weapon, at least make betsy’s wrath your support one.

Surprised you didn't really talk about using it alongside other weapons that can take advantage of its debuff, to me that feels like where it would shine the most
i was astronomically unlucky with betsy's wing where i had to beat it 15 times before getting the wing!
the early waves of a melee playthrough and getting the 2 things you would want in OOA is betsy wing and the idk betsy sword i 100% gotta cheese OOA's ground mobs

If your still struggling with old one's army here is some things I do for old one's army.
When it comes to old one's army I HIGHLY recommend using hoinks and cannons sold by the pirate. (Don't put a hoink ontop of a hoink.)
Also the platform can't be too high that harpies and wyerns spawn, thats asking for issues.
What set or accessory are you using that causes extra projectiles to come from the enemy on hit ?

Betsy is a sub weapon, you launch it first then switch to your main weapon for tons of dps. Doesn't matter if you're mage, melee or whatever, the armor reduction is just crazy
It's a bit of a shame since it's ideal for invasions, but at this point there's the pillars I guess but no late game classic invasion unless you put off the moons past OOA?

Personally, if you utilize a hoik and use the inferno fork, the event is way too easy. Would suggest something more single target centered for betsy tho.

I think you should also mention mana costs when talking about mage weapons since one weapon takes more mana then the other
I usually stack Betsy's Curse with Ichor, then Obliterate the Unfortunate boss With The Last Prism.

You have missed the true power of Betsy's Wrath. That is NOT a mage weapon, that is a summon weapon, offering a lot of range and using it for support for your summons makes it incredible. ;)
You splash them with the curse and swap for a whip, or keep the distance and let summons enjoy the Armour pen.
I used this to beat SO many post moonlord calamity bosses
It's basically just an upgraded Golden Shower, so I'm not sure using it as a standalone weapon is a fair test
Now here me out..... What if you use Piranha Gun and Spider staff together since they bolth latch onto enemies?

You mention the Razorpine....and Betsy's Wrath...and the Moon Lord...and never think of combining them? You use the Betsy's Wrath on the ML to inflict the Curse, then OBLITERATE with the Razorpine. Only the Terraprisma comes close to this combo when it comes to ML kill speed with pre-ML weapons (and let's be honest, killing the daytime Empress is more difficult than killing the ML).
It almost makes fighting against the Old One's army worth it...
as one of the 7 OOA fans.... old ones army needs a rebalance... either Betsy's tier needs to get dropped to post mech, with some balancing to the waves for that point or her weapons need to be buffed to the post-golem status they have.. such cool weapons being held back by awkward progression placement.
