Fantastic review; no wasted words and real world opinions. I'm thr original owner of an NAS 90 and think I've finally found the proper compliment. INEOS vlaims I can order my actual vehicle in 4 days...
one of the best grenadier review i seen well done and there was still so much more left out iam waiting on yr next video with bull bar iam starting to like this truck real bro bro big shot out to u from jamaica kooool
Some folk have sore leg and back pain because of their for position on the lump. The trunk opener so too speak is on the left, as most vehicle are build to ride on the other side. The central doesn't need to be moved. Steering and pedals and don't ahah
I had mine on the road since 22/04/2023. Don't press the bonnet down, it is aluminium and may dent, drop it from about 35cm. If the bonnet/hood is not shut properly, you cannot use the key fob to lock the car. Leaving any door ajar makes the central locking stop working. Please take pictures and give details of your modifications - Ineos are being slow with the 3D manual, so all details appreciated.
Good advice. Will try that tomorrow! Thank you. So far I’ve only changed the tyres. I’m waiting on wheels, roof rack, lighting, fridge, etc. As they come in, I’ll post for sure! Oh I’m also getting a ctek250se for solar charging.
the greatest undoing to this vehicle is that there is no manual version, or atleast one that i've heard of, but its the best of both worlds, gwagon and defender...and kindly please do give that guy a ride for me
Looking at the specs the maximum rear legroom is 30.5” . That is smaller than a midsize truck (I.e. Colorado has 35.8” of rear legroom). It’s hard to tell but in the videos there seems to be more space than a mid size truck. How does the legroom compare to the LC200? Perhaps it’s just different standards in where they are taking measurements?
To be honest I have no issues. I actually find the footrest more comfortable than my 200. On long safaris in my 200 I tend to be in constant search of a comfortable left leg position because the footrest is too far back. I haven’t done a long safari in the Grenadier yet but will do later this month. As always, I’ll post!
Very good review @Kenyan Grenadier. I am curious about your wheels. They are rather large. What did you say you are getting? Are those stock? Otherwise a lovely car, we drove the prototype and Jack at WA is an enthusiast so we expect good backup service. I am getting the one with the winch, I need it, and I have seen reviews of how it works. Otherwise, like you, I love the car especially after driving it, and I cant fault it.
Hey, great to engage with a fellow Kenyan owner. My wheels are stock. My tyres are larger- 285/70. I’m getting a wider wheel but still a 17. It’ll stick out about an inch more from the fender. I think you’ll love the final production version. Did you get petrol or diesel? Utility, Fieldmaster or Trialmaster? Lockers? If you need the winch, you need the winch! I’d be interested to hear more about your vehicle!
Grenadiers are being sold second hand up to $20,000 more than the new list price so don’t worry about resale value. Will be better than almost every other production car.
I feel like this thing will keep value for decades… who knows though! Having said that, it’s a thing of passion. Sometimes you just need to go with your heart and then thank yourself later!
Pretty durable. I’d say the Jimny is cheap. This isn’t like the Jimny at all. The plastics have some coating on them, and it feels tough. Time will tell. But I wouldn’t call it cheap by any measure!
Very informative review from an owners perspective. I live in the UK and drive on the left like you. Regards driving automatic cars, I only ever use my right foot for brake and acceleretor. I always found this suited me fine, but correct me if I misunderstood but do you use your left foot for the brake function?
I had a full size adult in there most of yesterday. You would be uncomfortable if you sat with your feet together. But who does that? The centre console is narrow. As narrow as you’d keep your legs apart. So there’s plenty of leg room behind the driver and passenger seats.
@@Kenyan_Grenadier that is great to hear. Thank you. Enjoy the Grenadier, I hope to get one soon. I’m torn between Magic Mushroom or Donny Grey. Did you have an opportunity to see all the colours? You obviously thought black was the best as that it what you ordered. Any opinion on my two choices?
Haha… have you seen the door seals on this truck? If not, have you heard the door close sound? I strongly doubt anything gets in. But there’s only one way to find out…
@@Kenyan_Grenadier I have been driving these around the Australian outback for years, no dust ingress, no water ingress, no electrical problems, no reliability issues. They'll go anywhere, they're comfortable for hours and hours, they have great radio's etc etc. In the bush you need a vehicle with a good AM radio, the radio's in the Ford Rangers are rubbish, you can't hear anything out in the bush. The ones I drive are company vehicles, if I wanted a 4WD of my own to drive around Australia I would buy a Prado in a heartbeat. Do you think your toolbag will fill up with water when you drive through deep water? Or aren't you going to use it for "what it was built for"?
Been a Toyota guy my entire life… was a risk with the Grenadier, for sure. But, now that I have it, and I can compare it directly, I’ve got to admit it’s built for Africa… and similarly Australia! I’ve never had an issue with my 200… it’s been incredible and I can’t fault it in terms of reliability. However, Toyota seems to have shifted gears a little and are moving more and more toward an SUV rather than a proper off-roader with the LC series. I had an order for the 300 GR-S and still went with the Grenadier. I think it’s very hard to justify a side between the two, and it comes down to what you really want. For me what matters is connecting to the terrain, feeling the capability of my vehicle and to an extent, what it actually looks like. I find my 200 a bit boring to be honest. A bit too muted for my persuasion. Reliability- time will tell. Capability- I’ll be heading to the WRC Safari Rally in June and then Tanzania, through the parks, in July so I’ll be able to post more on that. The terrain is unforgiving… so it will be a fair test…
So how many miles/km have you driven it so far? And, what do you think about the fit and finish for a production version. I drove the prototype 2 and am curious about the final version. Thx
About 100. Compared to the prototype it’s night and day. I think the utility trim is WAY better than the leather. I love the non-carpeted flooring. It’s tough and clean easy.
When this brand has proven itself to be as reliable and durable as its Toyota counter parts (not the LC 200/300 as they are not on the same segment therefore not comparable) then it would be probably worth paying the extra 30k difference due to its looks and maybe some amenities which are the only two competitive advantage as of today
The foot rest is a major drama when your over 6foot 2 and have long legs. My Kia Rio had more leg room. This vehicle is impossible for me to drive for more than 10 minutes. Place a brick on it and then try driving it, you will then understand.
@@Kenyan_Grenadier Yes, I thought you might. I’m a bmw driver and found it so intuitive immediately. Now try getting back in a Toyota! So, tell me, how are you finding the pedal arrangement; I’ve not understood people’s concerns given that there are only two pedals and you only need one foot between them?
No idea what the issue with the pedal arrangement could be. I just did some proper off-roading at the rally and it’s no different to any other 4x4 I’ve driven. The foot rest and pedals are all in line so even if you did want to use your left foot, it’s as easy as it gets. In fact it’s even easier to left foot brake because everything is aligned
Completely agree.
Got mine a few days ago, footrest dramas was so overblown. Its actually really comfortable. Happy motoring mate
Love dark color...gives it a great strong classy presence
Well done. This might be the first unbiased review I have seen on the IG.
Nice detailed video, especially appreciate seeing kids' car seats mounted and that the middle is still usable.

Great detailed video, bonnet pull is on the left so that you don't have to stand in traffic to operate it when on the road. My Discovery is the same.
Interesting- didn’t think of that!

Bonnet pull is exact same as L319. Getoverable 😬

Hi John… left foot braking is sometimes useful when off-roading and for hill climbs. If right suits you well then that’s the way to go!
Correct, drive fire trucks in the Australian bush on inclines using this method.

Drove the prototype does the final model have a rear center armrest and is the reverse camera larger?
Haven’t checked rear armrest but will. Camera same size
I’m also a Jimny owner with an IG on order - Does the IG handle more like the Jimny or the Cruiser on road?
Can’t compare it to the Jimny. See my video with Black Sheep for more info. It’s more like a G wagon.
car built as left hand drive , and people wonder why the right hand drive area is tight and the hood latch is on the left side.
Most EU made vehicles have the hood release on the left, my Mercedes is the same

There are not too many kangaroos in Africa to need a roo bar. May be a bull bar. Ha ha ha
Haha yeah but you just never know. Mine came with a steel jumper though so the roo bar is basically a bull/goat/buffalo/wildebeest bar
That gear stick is standard BMW, and very intuitive. It’s being used to that side to side monstrosity that Toyota use is your downfall!
Hehehe… perhaps! Having said that, I’m now used to it and it’s pretty cool!

The USA models won’t have the footrest as the BMW engine cat are positioned on the RH side of the engine. That’s why the bigger than normal foot rest.
