  • Figured I would use a commonly seen setup for this system test. For this video; I decided to put the Fire-Lite BG-12 and the System Sensor SpectrAlert Advance on the system. Although it's commonly seen, it's a setup that's out there, why not emulate it here?
This particular combo can be seen on any Honeywell based system installed from the late 2000's up to present day, whether it's from Fire-Lite, Notifier, Silent Knight, etc. Although overused, I actually admire the SpectrAlert Advance in some ways, one of which is the design of the unit. You mount a wall plate onto the box, wire the plate up, and then put the device on. One interesting thing about the Advance series is how well it filters out FWR. Normally, any device that is suitable for use on FWR tends to sound raspy. This particular device does not sound any different from filtered DC.
    System Specs:
    Panel: Monaco Vulcan 1 FACP
NAC 1: System Sensor P2R (SpectrAlert Advance)
    Zone 1: Fire-Lite BG-12.
    DISCLAIMER:
1: This is being activated in a controlled and legal environment, an enthusiast's experimental test setup. There is no dialing system present, and therefore, no fire departments were falsely dispatched when activating the alarm. It is a FELONY to pull a fire alarm in public to falsely report a fire or tamper with other life safety components in an actual system (i.e. "Just for fun, I saw it on RUclips, etc"). A fire alarm in a public building should only be pulled if there is actually a fire or other emergency, or if you are given authorization to do so.
2: This video contains flashing lights from a strobe. Those prone to seizures from flashing lights SHOULD NOT WATCH THIS VIDEO.
I AM NOT responsible for any legal damages done for pulling a false alarm, for any seizures, or code violations. These are your decisions, not mine!

Cool! The advance is one of my favorite alarms.

Although it is very common to see these, much to the "dismay" of other enthusiasts, I like the design on these, mostly the mounting plate portion of the design. No wonder they're popping up everywhere!

I'm going to ask you this too. Can you wire up a pull station to a fire alarm only using the the wires on the pull station. Btw, I have a BG-8 and a Spectralert advance.

That is possible to do. A conventional pull is just a simple switch. In a basic setup (which I usually do) the switch allows current to flow to the device. There's plenty of videos out there on how to do a basic setup like this.
