I'd honestly love to have gatherings and shit for sim Birthdays or picnics but I get so fucking angry when the guests won't just sit at the table and eat the food, they are always wondering about MY house using the computers and doing random bullshit.
The afterschool clubs idea is GENIUS. I already do family clubs, so I can bring my whole family over when I need to to do cook-outs or other things like that, but the club idea would make it so easy and fun to get my sims skills up.
I have abandoned generational simming!! I have a save where I'm playing all the fams I want, switching between them when I get bored and adding new families to the save. I've finally filled newcrest without it feeling like a waste bc I keep playing this save rather than me getting bored of it after I finish the build and CAS lol. One idea you can do: When your Sims divorce, instead of just taking one of them out, you can divide everything they own between them and if they have children you can even decide how many days they pass with each parent.
To make my game slightly more interesting, when my sims have divorced parents, they are staying with one parent one week, and the other parent the next week. Sometimes I go with the kids, or I just stay with the parent on their own, as it gives me time to focus on their skills/aspiration without any distractions. I'm also happy to say that at the time I'm watching this video, sims can now have likes and dislikes!
This is the first video I’ve seen of yours and I gotta say, for a quick little info video on how to make your game fun, I can tell that you put a lot into it and I appreciate that so much! I liked your ideas and I enjoyed hearing you talk 🥰
I freaking love your voice it's so calming, I normally hear screaming everyday from anyone in my family, so just hearing someone be so calm while talking even when swearing is so relaxing, also Ty for the toddler fence tip now ik what to do if I can't handle a toddler- just trap them- 😌💅🏻 Also, you're way to underrated 😭🤚🏻
I always use it so my Kids can Always have friends of their age and to find love partners for my teens (ofc It ends with my sim dating all of the members and breaking their hearts)
Love these ideas and this type of video. There is so much in the sims 4 that is easy to overlook and with a bit of imagination gameplay becomes lots of fun. This is a great reminder that the simplest of things can spice things up. Thank you 💕
This may not be directly gameplay related and it's most likely not a new idea but something I always do when I have MC Command Center installed is to change the lifespan length to be comparable to real life. So for short lifespan I use a ratio of 1 sim day = 1 rl year, for a short medium lifespan I use 2 sim days = 1 rl year, for longer medium lifespan 4 sim days = 1 rl year or if you want a really really long life with your sims you could go 6 sim days = 1 rl year or even 8 sim days = 1 rl year. This way you can actually calculate your sims ages and it's not just an 'adult' but you actually have an idea whether they're 35 or 55 and whether a toddler is 2 (and shouldn't be left alone if you want to play immersive) or whether they're 5 and able to play on their own for a few hours (and you can customize the age stages to start at whichever age you feel fits best) I use it all the time and it's really confusing to me now whenever I play with normal sim lifespans xD
I LOVE THIS VIDEO! Honestly, how did I NOT think of using "Get Together" as a way to make fun activities for kids and teens?! Thank you for the suggestions! I'm not anti mods or anything, but I also don't like having TOO many in my game lol
Clicked the first part of this video thinking it was a quick gameplay recap, and boy was I wrong. You are hilarious in such a short time lol. Gonna go watch more now.
I was just thinking earlier how much I miss the favorite colors, music and food, it really brought the sims more to life, I'm new here and I subscribed just now! Thanks for the lovely ideas! I'm adding sand box now!
when you were talking about the picnic on benches i immediately thought 'seating pillows from toddler stuff pack + a carpet = a fake picnic!' it'd be kinda cool ngl because they can sit on those pillows
Some ideas I've implemented: - Sim wants to become the best crimelord and pass it on to their child, so they find a partner, have a and leave the partner with all of the money and stuff (bonus points if you kill off the partner afterward to complete an aspiration) - Single sim also wants to be a crimelord/do crime and is extremely power-hungry. They start with a child they had with (make the child a mermaid too, and the mermaid parent out of the picture) and make the parent goal to also become a mermaid (find kelp naturally) - Sim is a single parent with a child and wants to be the best parent and provide the best life for their child, but then they meet someone else, in love, married, and a baby with the new s/o. The new s/o doesn't like their spouse's child and the relationship between the parent and the child diminish - runaway teen but the teen ran away with their kid sibling (could start in an apartment with very low funds or like a true runaway teen) - an occult goes to university! They just want to get by and get a degree but they have to keep their identity a secret - Parent dies and the family is but comes back as a ghost and so the other parent still wants a relationship with the ghost
I like your ideas. I will surely use some of them. Especially the afterschool ideas. I am all for spicing my gameplay up. I play Sims since 2000 and despite the catastrophe my first family turned out, when inexperienced me created a family of two adults and six kids that ended in devastating house fire, I still love to play with big families. I tend to get really bored when I play with just one or two Sims. But I also don't like to play with the usual 2 parents with kids family either. I like to create some challenging stories for my Sims. Like single parent with a todler who now also have to take care of their two sibligs, teen and child. Or a same-sex couple witrh kids from their previous relationships and elder parents who disaprove of their relationship. Things like this. Or my last gameplay in Sims 3 where I created a guy with Supernatural skeptic trait who has to take care of three children (one of which is his half-brother) and a teen, each of whom has different supernatural status. It was hillarious, but this one is hard to be implemented in Sims 4. Still it's an example of the family chemistry I like to play with.
I actually have all those features in the game just with mods. You can have real afterschool activities, actual picnics with the blanket and the sims will sit on the floor, playpens for toddlers and extra traits. So you could have only the basegame and have all these features. I truly couldn't play the game without them!
Well the updte with likes and dislikes is on it's way. And even though I bet it will get annoying once the update is available and you'll have to assign every single Sim the new features, it can be really fun with your last idea you mention in this video.
What I do is I give my sims a background story! I created a woman from Iraq and she has a teenage daughter. They moved because the husband/dad was killed and they wanted start fresh. I decided the first neighbour to come to the door that was an adult (man or woman) was going to marry the mam even if that sim was already married and the first teen seen was going to be the girlfriend or boyfriend of the teenage daughter😂 my god did I start drama! Bob pancakes came to the door with his wife and I made the mother sim flirt with him in front the Eliza (or whatever her name is🤷🏼♀️) she then ended up pregnant that same day! (Her own doing I didn’t tell her!) with a baby boy now she has two sons and a daughter with bob who is still MARRIED to Eliza and is the mother’s boyfriend 😂 the teenager met Malcom Landgraab first and they despised each other but they pushed through and are now girlfriend and boyfriend! Safe to say Nancy hates the teen daughter and Eliza hates the mother 😂
I like this. I guess TS4 just means we have Legos and literally have to build anything we want from scratch. So, if we want ballet after school we have to build a ballet studio and add them to a club (but we still don't have the animations for it). I also think that if we want to see our sims work, all those rabbit hole careers need an office to work in and then be assigned to a club to do actions at the office. WHAT A LOT OF WORK FOR A $1000 GAME. (I've paid $1000 to be forced to use my imagination!)
This is really helpful since I am getting bored with my Sims playing a Rich Playboy Philanthropist who is also a Politician and sleeps with with every married women he encounters except single mothers
Um, good grades or not, probably shouldn't eat ice cream for dinner. Maybe an after dessert but feed your kids actual food. Especially since they can get negative moodlets from quick meals and junk food now Also gameplay ideas; try new family dynamics. Go single parent, or maybe the kids live with their grand parents, or step parents. Or make a family that fosters kids. Always have a woman and a man, make it gay... or a family friend or best friend moves in to help raise the kids (maybe have them move in as a room mate so you can't actually control them) Or even play where you can only control a single sim, everything else has to be done by autonomy or your chosen sim interacting with them See how many skills you can max out, like maybe a sim learns all the instruments or knows all the crafting skills. Make a Kleptomaniac sim that lives off what they steal Create a... workshop where you have sims crafting/creating things for you to sell (The basement is a good place to have them live) GIVE YOUR SIMS 'BAD' TRAITS; mean, hot headed, slob, etc Play a career you don't normally... such as be a criminal or freelancer Play on a bigger lot even if your house is still small so your bills are more expensive Have a full house in a small build CHAOS
This is actually not gameplay but a whole scenario, but I really enjoyed playing it and you don’t need any packs or mods or stuff so I’ll tell you, no matter if you want or not: You basically start by creating any family you want in a nice home with a garden (or just a bunch of free space). The only criteria is that there must be at least one child. I did this with a (human) girl, but you can actually have any occult, gender, traits,… Just imagine the family lives a normal, happy life. Your first task: Kill the child! It doesn’t matter how, just make sure the grim reaper appears and you place their tombstone in the garden. You can then decorate the grave with flowers, trees etc. or just leave it. Due to the shock about their child’s death the family moves out and you’ll never have to play it again. Then you can move into the same house with another family and act like there was a long time in between. This family also needs to have at least one child. Just live there, but it’s important that you make sure the dead child doesn’t get deleted (you can do so at the tomb). As soon as it’s ghost appears in the house the living child needs to befriend it until they’re best friends (you may need more than one encounter for that). The adults are not allowed to see it! When they have reached the best friend status the living child can introduce the ghost to the family, which it then will join. Now your task is to somehow get Ambrosia, so that, in the end, you are able to turn the ghost back into a child and live happily ever after.

This is actually not gameplay but a whole scenario, but I really enjoyed playing it and you don’t need any packs or mods or stuff so I’ll tell you, no matter if you want or not:
You basically start by creating any family you want in a nice home with a garden (or just a bunch of free space). The only criteria is that there must be at least one child. I did this with a (human) girl, but you can actually have any occult, gender, traits,…
Just imagine the family lives a normal, happy life.
