  • Ahmed learned to make Egyptian Feteer as a child in his family's restaurant in Alexandria and has brought those traditions with him to Steinway Street in Queens. His love and passion for the dish are evident from the moment you walk through the doors at @Mum.Feteer
Originating in Ancient Egypt thousands of years ago, Feteer is a dish steeped in tradition that predates modern pizza (thought to have been created between the 16th and 18th centuries) by millennia.
Check out Ahmed's restaurant in Astoria:

I swear, anyone who hasn't tried feteer yet, is really missing something. It's sooooo delicious, and I'm not just saying this because I'm an Egyptian myself, I say this because of how heavenly it tastes. I went to Egypt this year with my family during easter break (I live in europe) and there we ate feteer. You can eat it with just cheese and vegetables or sausages or basterma and basterma is something that kinda looks like bacon but comes from a cow and is completely halal in Egypt and if youre craving something sweet, you can eat feteer stuffed with crushed nuts and something called 9eshta in Arabic (it also tastes so so good). Anyways I got so addicted to it that I legit just ate all the leftovers (they come in pizza boxes btw) and we bought like 10 boxes or so (theyre were like 2 boxes left and YES i ate all of it). I'm never forgetting the taste omg😭
If you ever get the chance to visit Egypt you NEED to try feteer🇪🇬❤
And I also wanna add something, I can relate to him when he said that there are more opportunities in America and that it's easier to chase your dreams there. That also counts for me. As I said, I live in Europe and the reason is that my parents immigrated from Egypt to Europe so we can have a better future, it's hard most of the time but I'm grateful I can now follow my dreams
