MECH4580 Tutorial 3: Importing aerofoil geometry in Creo

- 1: Select aerofoil geometry from the following database: m-selig.ae.illi...
2: 'Tidy up' in MS Excel so that the unit aerofoil top and bottom surface start at (0,0,0) and end at (1,0,0). Be sure to add a 'z' column of zeros.
3: Copy to Notepad and save as a .pts file. Two files are needed, one for the top surface and another for the bottom surface.
4: In Creo modify the spline by importing this .pts geometry.
The other method is to use the "Offset Datum Points" command. One can import the point file and a "datum Curve" can then pass through the points.
Nice work Samuel, it's not quite they way I remember but since I've forgotten that way this is clearly better ;-)
Thanks for video..that helped a LOT👍
3:45 why I keep trying for the past few hours to dimension the LENGTH of the construction line segment, I cannot do it? Pro/E is stuck on measure its vertical distance only.
I have Creo Parametric 1.0. I am not able to download de points from the pts files to the splines. Just wondering if this has anything to do with the fact I am using an older version, what do you think?
Thank You for sharing the tutorial, learnt to import.
it is weird that if you create coordinate system before activating construction mode, 'read point coordinates from file' command in the spline dashboard seems not to be activated.
is that aerofoil s822?
PLACE A COORDINATE SYSTEM HOLY SHIT
Needs Z column to work
