The 924 was not designed by VW. It was designed by Porsche for VW. When one does major transmission or transaxle work on a 924, one is reminded that it is in fact, not a VW. :)
My apologies for misunderstanding/misreading the information. I had been told by a club member and that’s how I recalled the info but upon checking I’ve misunderstood the relationship. Thanks for pointing this out 👍
Loved my old 924 (metallic burgundy), the only problems I had were a) it ate batteries and b) a persistent leak in the back window (around the wiper motor?) which nobody seemed to be able to fix. Oh and c) the fan on the radiator would only kick in once the temperature dial was about to touch the red.
Good surviving car. That interior would give me a migraine. Whoever designed it must have been on a trip. Needs a lot of work+ that auto gearbox. Nice colour. Needs TLC 👍
It's a leftover from the early cars where there was indeed a speaker for the mono radio! Rear speakers were then introduced, and by the year of this car, door speakers as well, making the dashboard grille redundant.
@@IAMASPANNER so now between me and you I was wanting to buy this really badly but thought it would be too pricey to keep , did this car actually have any major problems etc or anything like alot to run or repairs needed anythign liek that ? As it was so much more cheaper compared to all others Ans to was the best quietly form what I could see
@@chodesniffer2187 Look after it and it will look after you. Don't drive it on salty roads, and jet wash the wheelarches to remove mud, spray cavity wax in the sills and wheelarches, or just only drive it on dry days. Compared to many other 80's cars, they are pretty solid due to their galvanised steel construction.

Great points that more reviewers should acknowledge! It's designed by Porsche. With the use of VW parts.

Thanks mate! You helped me out on some of the buttons! Especially the electric windows.
Cool

Like your calm way of sharing your thoughts about the 924. Sounds like it was a good friendship you both had. Thx for tthe great vid. 👍
Saw this car an Auto Trader, absolutely loved it, would have been interested if it wasn’t an auto, I already have a 924S auto so wanted a manual 2.0.
How do you like your 924S Auto? I'm considering a 944 Auto.

The interior is trippy but I do rather like it. New owner is having the car restored so I look forward to seeing that 👍
always wanted to own a auto 924 and put a 5 cylinder or v6 in it
what's that thing on the dashboard over the clocks? That seems either like an empty space or a speaker
I think it’s a speaker but I’m not sure to be honest.

Great car, thanks for the video as well!
Once the renovation is finished will send you video!
@@IAMASPANNER the drive back was a pleasure!
@@viper_gaming969 the car was very cheap to look after and didn’t need any immediate attention. The new owner is going to do a full restoration.
There’s one for sale near me in exzellent condition, should I buy it as a first car?
100% yes.
@@IAMASPANNER where I live gets pretty bad weather tho, snow and salt ruins cars in winter, still worth?
