@@offroadoffgrid6631 a Waterwheel is specific very specific type of water harnessing device rotating very slowly with high torque. 30 ft of head means a 30 foot in diameter wheel. You should be looking at something more along the lines of a Pelton, Turgo, Crossflow, or Kaplan style of turbine.
I may do something like that too. no reason I can't have both. I like the sounds and the charm of a water wheel, great place to sit and read or relax while the wheel spins. I probably will build some type of turbine generator to go along with it.
I kind of did forget about it lol. I just happened to pull it up the other day and it has grown even without my posting anything to it for a long time. I figure this would be a good place for the water wheel and cabin videos since it's all off grid stuff.
the implications of my comment are these. bucket volume/runner width SHOULD be 'matched' to the flow rate. greater 'wheel radius equal 'more' head and more watts out. cheers googletranslate
Beautiful piece of land Luke!! I have always loved the idea of water power! Dog's look like they love the woods thanks for the video!!
Thanks, I figured I would start putting more videos up on this channel. The dogs do love the place, so do I.
Can't wait to see your progress!!!
I approve.
How much head/gpm do you have? Looks like a good setup for a powerspout.
I think the drop is about 30 ft. Should be great for a water wheel.

I had about forgot about this channel too. Good thing you didn't, lol.
