About 2016 on a Sunday my wife and I knocked on the back door of the Orendain distillery in Tequila. There was no tour staff on duty so the head chemist took us on a private tour of the entire process from the truck arriving with the agave all the way to the double distillation process where we both had shots from a bull's horn. Fascinating.

wow, I am envious, you are one of the few who have had the honor to interview one of the most prominent AND influent families in Mexico and the creators of the tequila, even though the cuervos family is one of the most famous and most recognized tequila brands in the world the arette tequila from the Orendain family is considered the king among tequilas and tequila connoisseurs.

Agreed. I personally will not drink Cuevo and we always stick with Orendain. The Orendain family own a small hotel in Melaque, Jalisco on the coast north of Manzanillo. We've met the family and toured the distillery. Our favorite for mixed drinks is the silver clear "joven" tequila

Nice video but I'm not sure where you got the idea that the "tequila making process....only happens in Tequila, Jalisco, Mexico." It also happens in the Los Altos de Jalisco region such as Arandas, Tepatitlan, San Ignacio Cerro Gordo and Atotonilco.
It can happen in parts of Michoacan, parts of Guanajuato, parts of Tamaulipas and parts of Nayarit and in all of the rest of Jalisco.

Isn't Tequila called some other name when the agave is grown outside of the specific areas of central Jalisco? I love Raicilla, similar to Tequila but comes from agave grown in western Jalisco. Also there's of course mescal, also cultivated outside of the specific areas of Jalisco. There are several other spirits with the agave plant as the primary ingredient but prevented by law from being called tequila.... Just as you cannot call something champagne if the grapes are grown in California
