Shouldn't the FAA or powers that be, implement a rule that all tour helicopters/ general aviation have the passengers use a safety green color vest with floating capabilities. In events like these, locating the injured or remains will be faster?

Been on Kauai 22 years. So many crashes. I would never do a helicopter tour. Thin profit lines, they go out in all types of weather, coupled with unique terrain on Kauai a recipe for disaster that has repeated itself on Kauai.😮

I have to agree, being at the airport a lot and seeing the tour helicopters constantly flying in really marginal weather with heavy clouds.

That's a lot of resources committed to this incident. The ocean conditions look pretty rough and windy and you don't want any more mishaps. At this point it looks like a recovery, not a rescue operation, and they may never recover the other two souls or the aircraft. The safety record of the Robinson helicopters is not good and it has known problematic flight characteristics. Maybe there should be another look at allowing this aircraft to conduct tours.

I have friends in Hawaii & they telling me that it was like a scene out of a horror movie (maybe “Final Destination”) because after the helicopter landed in the water & sank, that poor woman managed to escape & she swam to the surface. But she was surrounded by aggressive tiger sharks 🦈 that violently attacked & killed her. It was a nightmarish, gut wrenching scenario & it sucks.
The other two people are missing, which suggests to me that they too got out of the helicopter as well. Otherwise they would have most likely still been seat belted in the helicopter. But at this time, their fates are unknown. It is possible that the same group of tiger sharks attacked & killed them as well, which would definitely explain why they disappeared & they can not find them.
This was a horrible tragedy. It sounds like the pilot did a pretty good job with his emergency landing. But it’s virtually impossible to know if there are sharks in the water you are aiming for to crash land.
I did not say anything about the helicopter nor what caused it to go down. I simply shared facts people in Hawaii shared with me, about what happened immediately following the accident.
The shark attack is a crucial part of what happened. I have no idea why the media is leaving that out? It is in fact what happened after the R44 ditched in the ocean.
Somebody else suggested that the media is ignoring the shark attack to protect the tour industry. But only the media knows.
Hawaii is a beautiful tropical 🏝️ paradise & I loved my time there. But even in paradise there are dangers like sharks. Nobody wants to talk about this aspect. But it’s the truth.

      Yes. I know. It’s horrific.
I received this information from someone in Hawaii.
      Note: In this video:
Sharks in the water are mentioned at 7:44 affecting the rescue & recovery efforts.
@ 10:44 the question is asked about the condition of the woman’s body & the man appears very uncomfortable & he dodges the question.
@ 14:01 the reporter who recaps at the end again mentions sharks in those waters & steps rescue & recovery personnel are taking to stay safe from the sharks.
So, these are definitely shark infested waters. And this was a horrible tragedy for the three people whom lost their lives.

I wish that I could help with that. But I never used the word eye witness. I believe the people hiking whom texted in the helicopter crash were the only eye witnesses to the crash. My contact is in Kauai & very close to the situation & this is what he told me happened to Amy Nichole Ruark Quintua. I do not know how he knows this? Perhaps because of the condition of her body? Ie. Shark bites.

So it’s always devastating to hear of crashes car or otherwise! That said I believe we all make choices knowing the risks involved, most times. The best to do is pray these souls didn’t suffer much and ate now in the hands of God!
Everyday there are fatal accidents all over the globe. I do not believe in vilifying the Helicopter Tour Industry. These sorts of Accidents happen sadly frequently even in our military and other private sectors. It’s simple part of our everyday choices in life. Anyone having experienced a car accident has had the knowledge that it has always been a possibility it may occur at some point. So please stop and think about your judgements in this scenario.
Kauai is a beautiful magical place, living here I m well aware how tricky our winds are along the coast and by our canyon. Yet I have chosen to get the birds eye view and it’s even more amazing pictures and videos can not replace the feeling of seeing it with your own eyes. So I am not condemning the Helicopter Tour Industry for an accident. I might be a bit more selective on which companies to go with but I would not want them to seize to exist! Blessings to those suffering the aftermath of this fatal accident.

These three people survived the helicopter ditching in the water only to be killed by tiger sharks.
    In this video:
Sharks in the water are mentioned at 7:44 - 8:24 & the tactics rescue personnel are utilizing to protect themselves from the sharks.

@@brikmason3 How can I provide proof? I am no longer in Hawaii.
There were only two eye witnesses to the crash & they only sent a text message. I am not sure if authorities were ever able to interview them for more information?
The person whom told me what they knew said the poor woman survived the helicopter crash into the water, unbuckled from the sinking helicopter & seam to the surface. Only to be killed by sharks!
I presumed they knew this from the shark bites (missing limbs) on Amy Nichole Ruark Quintua’s body.
I am not knowledgeable about sharks. But I believe sharks prefer lice prey.
Which indicates Amy was alive when the sharks attacked her.
Look, this whole story is tragic & sucks.
I just think that the truth of what happened needs to come out.
I am only going by what my contact in Kauai told me.
      Just the facts.

    🦈🦈🦈🦈🦈🦈🦈
In this recent helicopter crash in Kauai, Hawaii. 🚁 It appears that the emergency ditching (crash landing) of the R44 helicopter was in fact a survivable water landing.
But tragically it appears that the helicopter went down in a shark infested area & once any survivors egressed out of the submerged helicopter wreckage they were surrounded by aggressive tiger sharks that attacked them. 🦈
If this is the case, then these accident victims were either killed from drowning and or the shark bites once they egressed from the helicopter & not killed from the (ditching) crash itself.
But why is the media not mentioning that the woman’s body that was recovered was in fact killed by sharks? I guess it’s easier to let the general public presume that the crash killed them? If one passenger swam to safety, it’s very possible that the other two did as well, but encountered the same fate, with the sharks & those two other people are missing. A shark attack would definitely explain why they are missing.
Either way, it’s wrong for the media to not tell the whole story behind this tragic accident & what really happened.
    Prayers to the families. 🙏
    RIP
