Taylor, the guy with the foxes from east Palestine, is actually a very close friend of me and my girlfriend. Almost all of his animals are rescues. They are his life and 4 of his foxes have passed now and the rest of them are all sick and injured in some way. My girlfriend went this past weekend to take one of his cats and she said the air smelled of chemicals and hurt to breathe in even for the short time she was there. It seems a lot worse than what is being said.

I stood there procrastinating, staring at the youtube homepage for the last 20min. Thinking about all the excuses that I had to not watch. I didn’t sleep well last night, I’m tired, my kids are sick, I woke up with anxiety. Then I thought to myself, with all those things against me, what if I could still pull this off. As someone who lives 20 miles away from East Palestine right over the border in PA and had this plume over my house, thanks for the coverage. People in my neighborhood had sore throats and burning eyes walking outside the following day. They should have evacuated everyone in a thirty mile radius. This whole situation is a mess and most of us can't afford to just move 😔

When I was getting phd in microbiology, i had a couple of exposures to non-life threatening bugs, but still had to go to a physician as part of a safety protocol. I found very quickly how little doctors know about specific research materials or even strains of common infectious agents. I basically had to give a mini lecture on what they were supposed to be treating me for both times. No hate to medical doctors! Y’all are doing your best! I have a doctorate in microbiology, and I don’t know half of the pathogens my peers work with, so why would a medical doctor know them? They are not something a normal person would be exposed to on day to day anyway

This is almost certainly going to fall under the EPA super fund program. It goes by a different name now but the principal is still the same.
If a company is negligent and responsible then they can be forced to pay for not only the damages but all of the costs incurred by the EPA in the process of cleanups.
This is where you get into another issue of shell companies and bankruptcy protection. Disasters like this are when you find out who your elected representatives truly serve.
Private companies cannot be trusted with stuff this dangerous. At times, the government can't be, either. But the difference is, government can be held to account in a more fundamental way than corporations and their mercenaries.
We need a Teddy Roosevelt style president, who harnesses the discontent of the masses and unleashes that fury onto the system. No other force, private or public, has the clout required for such a task. The only way to achieve this is to stop voting for the "lesser of two evils". The Democrats need to know that mediocrity is no longer acceptable, and that they won't receive our votes unless they change. Decades of the lesser evil led directly to Trump.

Because I definitely have heard it, the “southern” he goes for is a particular kind of interpretation that has historically been used to demean the intelligence of Black americans. There is a reason there are so many comments about Ethan needing an accent coach every time he busts out anything other than the godfather one.

The residents in Darlington weren’t really given notice or told to evacuate. They only evacuated a 1 mile radius and left everyone else to fend for themselves. They allowed everyone back home shortly after also and noone has be given many resources or help through this.

Some interesting info about vinyl chloride (as a medicinal chemistry student) - Ethan's comment about it tasting like sugar, it actually does taste sweet, believe it or not. So does other chloride containing molecules such as chloroform (which we all know is carcinogenic and used to be used for anaesthesia) and Dichloromethane. I wouldn't recommend trying though!
Another interesting fact is that cyanide actually smells like almonds. Almonds actually contain some cyanide but at extremely low concentrations.

I think he has special little extra part in his brain where some of ventricle space should be, and it's an extra little set of lobes devoted purely to goblining. I had to do rail operations to get our military vehicles overseas (slow boat to China is what we called it). to move over 200 vehicles, we worked 32hrs in 2 days. Shit was not easy and the rail road workers were VERY meticulous on fuel levels and chains/axel based off vehicle weight. We prepped 4mos to get those 32hrs done. The fact the rail workers are expected to push stuff that fast is insane and it is ONE of the jobs that SHOULD be unionized and not be a huge profit for companies to exploit.

Kinesiology major here. Ice baths promote brown fat stores which is very good for many things like burning bad white fat and keeps you warm in cold temps. Also the cold gives you a big dopamine rush. It feels really good when you’re in a bad mood. Makes you feel pretty nice and relaxed. But for my I also feel like it makes me more comfortable with being uncomfortable and it makes me push myself harder in sports and when I workout and am like at the end pushing myself: it’s almsot the same mental challenge. It’s like mental conditioning too. Its not good after muscular strength or endurance training bc it reduces good inflammation you need to develop muscle size and strength. It is actually best to do before weight training but very good after cardio. It is also best to do sauna then ice bath like love was saying, it is most effective. It really helps my anxiety and depression personally and I’ve done it for months now.

I was talking to residents of East Palestine & it's so bad. People can't return to their homes, animals are dead in their cages because they weren't allowed in the facilities. The residents were told little to nothing about the time frame of how long they'd be forced to be evacuated, one lady who evacuated was the owner of a boarding facility & she had a few peoples dogs in her kennels that she just had to abandon. the fish in the creek dead, people finding dead birds. The administration has said NOTHING, they would rather ignore it. Slowly more & more gets released, new EPA reports dropped during the superbowl last night. It's extremely bad situation.
The thought of this that kind of train derailment even being a decent possibility is horrifying, let alone it actually happening. I can't imagine the fear and anger everyone there must be feeling.
I was a firefighter and technical responder. We did hazmat response and phosgene gas is potentially lethal at something like 30 parts per million. And rapidly fatal at 50ppm. For reference, chlorine gas is considered extremely deadly, was weaponized in WW and is fatal at around 400ppm. Phosgene gas is seriously scary stuff.
