This came up in my recommendations and it's an utterly engrossing interview. Thanks for uploading it. You are a good interviewer, respectful and well informed.
Talk about authenticity! Dave is the real deal, what a cool guy. I have so much respect and admiration for him. This interview was so inspiring and uplifting.
My friends Matt and Peter used to live across the street from Dave in Scottsdale. This was in the 90's. Being huge fans of Megadeth, it was definitely awesome. He was always super nice to us. Glad to see he's doing well.
What a great guy. Always has been an excellent, kind, talented dude. And an outstanding musician. I cannot help but feel embarrassed and hurt for him. I am SO HAPPY to have read that his grown sons completely understand, forgive, and support their father. David Ellefson is good person.
Kevin! Great interview! It was so awesome meeting both Dave Ellefson and you last night. Tragic that the show couldn’t take place but I’m glad I got to meet some cool people. Until the next show my dude. 🤘

I never heard of Kevin before this. I'm 51 and play bass and have met Dave Ellefson backstage in Fitchburg, MA (Megadeth w/ Corrosion Of Conformity). Friendliest guy in music IMO. I even sent him an e-mail in 1995 asking him about his gear that I saw on stage that night and he sent me a reply explaining what the different pedals were and what basses he used on Youthanasia which was very cool. He signed off with "Youthfully Yours.....Dave Ellefson". But this interview with Dave is the best interview I've ever seen. Kevin seemed super down to earth & grounded & asked very good questions (instead of questions that make you cringe when you hear them). At 40:34 Dave acknowledges Def Leppard as a major influence on American thrash metal. I totally agree. Def Leppard and Van Halen were my first favorite bands, which led me to Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax, Sepultura. Leppard doesn't get credited enough. So, I thought..."Fuck it, I'll leave tomorrow". Then tomorrow came. "Ahhh, so easy...I can do this tomorrow" Leaving, is "hope" to most. Knowing I had that option is what made realize, I can do this. Those thoughts were intrusive thoughts, confused as to how to end the pain. Completely normal for someone in extreme stress. That was 14 years ago. And the though of leaving today terrifies me. Daves a sweet and sincere guy in interviews. He is in the top 10 bass players in all of metal. The snide treatment from his previous band is unfair as fuck. I would not like to be sacked from my job for being a victim of blackmail. Dave Elf did nothing wrong and has handled the whole situation with the dignity and class we have come to expect from him. I would love to see the Kings of Thrash play a show in Scotland. I wish Dave and his kin good fortune and health.
@snwrist3To many people should he ask forgiveness? Did his wife forgive him? Did God forgive him? Oh that’s right, you can’t answer the first two, no one can. The Bible says only God can judge so who TF do you think you are? What he did was reprehensible if he did not have an open relationship with his wife. It’s a hurtful act he committed. He was also a drug addict at one time, too so should we still be hating him for that? Oh, wait, your distaste is because he’s a “preacher”? I have only read that he’s a minister rather than a preacher, as in ordained into ministry not actually appointed to lead a church. I’m an ordained minister but I don’t lead a church. It’s a title not a position. Yes, what he did was wrong but we aren’t to judge. We can use his example as a warning of what not to do. He is bringing his art and joy to many people and affecting many thousands in a positive uplifting way. That is part of ministry whether one is a minister or not.. We don’t have to condone his sin but we can forgive him and support his effort to bring the positivity of his art form to the world.
I guess it is no coincidence that the cover of the 'No Cover' record looks like the cover of a Def Leppard album.. Man, who agrees with me that the Metal Allegiance album was a kick ass underated album? Let's be honest, it's Rock - and only us die hard true believers still get amped for things like this! Gojira also reminds me that Atilla and Epica are just so good it's uncanny..
I was fortunate enough to see Metallica open for Ozzy back in the day... We had gotten tickets because we were Metallica fans... Loved Ozzy but i had seen him many times before... Metallica was new and fresh back then and just what metal needed...
@@iasknoonewithkevin Hello.. I saw them in Worcester Ma at the Centrum... What stood out was how heavy they sounded.. It was the Puppets tour and it was great times...
Personaly now when im 40 years old tell this:,as a kid i didnt like megadeth , becouse i was fascinate about Metallica and Slayer🙄. Now so many years latter, my opinion had been change for many reason. First of all, metallica is not trash and heavy metal band anymore, maybe hard rock. And i think that start with load and reload , when then practicly loose balls! From other side , i found out Endgame album of Megadeth in 2009 ,and i was like wow: there are heavier than in the 80s😮. Thats fucking awesome about Dave and Megadeth. P.s when they ask Dave which Megadeth album is most important to him , he sas ' that favourite album of Mega is not Megadeth. ➡️ Kill em All...
Megadeth is nothing without Jr. I said what I said. He was there from the beginning and his contributions on the classic Deth albums are top notch. One of my favorite bassists ever
I can't unsee it. It's literally the first response if you google it. Don't watch it. He's whacking and nutting. Mustaine needs to forgive him already I mean come on man , I did that shit in the mid 90s when the net was brand new.
Metalheads need to watch this to understand the importance of Metallica. Because they evolved they get written off, but heres a guy who’s lived it, and is gracious enough to praise them.
@@iasknoonewithkevin :D it has always been my wish to see dave, david, nick and marty together again even for just 1 show as megadeth. sadly nick can't be with us anymore.
Def Leppard Getcha Rocks off ........ Metallica Jump in the Fire ...... I hear much similarities between the 2 songs. I could hear James & Joe both singing the other song because theyre quite similar
Man I tried on web site I got this song that would definitely put a camp on the map This songs just great for Dave's new project As an original. Smash thrasher It's called. MENTAL BEATINGS
Man I tried on web site I got this song that would definitely put a camp on the map This songs just great for Dave's new project As an original. Smash thrasher It's called. MENTAL BEATINGS You could make a show out of my song pitch. If you would like Sir
I made the mistake of seeing if it exists on the net. It does , it's like the 3rd link in search engine. FML Now whenever I see him I can't unsee the nutting.
To think he cud be on a world tour with megadeth right now man i bet this guy has refound his faith after the demons of lust did a number on him. That number bein 5 the world class bass extrordenare shows the 5 knucle shuffle live! Sorry dave! Couldnt ressist love ya bro✊️
Oh I gotta say I don't give a rats ass about Dave's private life and all the bullshit. I love Dave all the way around super dude. I guarantee every human has something not meant for the populations consumption. My wife as been telling me for years now to destroy our sex tape from the 90s, I've been slow to do it, cuz damn we look great.
DId Dave not mention Blizzard of ozz? they put out the top selling metal debut of all time, gave Leppard an opening slot. Blizzard kick started metal.....as the late 70s were being dominated by inferior musicianship with punk and new wave Yes metallica changed the game wth the eponymous album and then their best album LOAD>
@@iasknoonewithkevin yeah, I have Cliff em All too. It was just a little much man. Remember David had to hear forever how great Cliff was while Mustaine continues to bad mouth him and refuses to acknowledge his place as CO-FOUNDER of Megadeth. It was a great interview though. I appreciate you doing what you do.
@@TheTraubenstein Hahahaha, too true! Ellefson is a tremendous bass player! And yes, totally unfair since him & Mustaine are a lot like the Gene & Paul but for MEGADETH. Not fair. There's something personal between them that Mustaine jumped on as an excuse. Even in the band's first statement they admitted to not knowing all of the facts, yet have made the difficult decision to part ways with Ellefson. NOT FAIR AT ALL
It’s not megadeth without jr I love James but jr is just the man alls I got to say is the bass line in peace sells but who’s buying it’s the most know bass line ever
Dave only screwed Himself..he is the one to blame..his tour of blaming everyone else for him being kicked out of Megadeth is a joke.. He is a Married " Christian" man who was on VIDEO!!!..on VIDEO!!! cranking his carrot for the whole world to see!! Stop with the...Mustaines a Jerk for kicking him out... Would you want to see your bandmate or your dad doing that on Video??...Do tell.. Man up and admit you screwed up!!
He was a victim of revenge porn plain and simple. What he did in his own privacy is his own business good or bad and between him and his own conscience. The jerk off who decided to post it on social media is the real issue. What kind of pervert would do that and why? To hurt a man, destroy his livelihood and then run away anonymous is a cowardly act. Dave is not blaming anyone. He acknowledged his mistake, accepts the outcome is getting on with his life and doing good things. Anyone who judges him is a hypocrite. No one really cares about his little folly anymore. He didn't break the law. It's all water under the bridge now. Time will do it's healing no doubt. As for Mustaine I'm disappointed in his decision to fire him but it's not personal. It's just business.
Metallica were THE biggest rip off artists I’ve ever had the displeasure of working with. Mustaine’s written both the debut as well: 3-4 numbers off of the RTL album 💿 Lars got punched out by my late vocalist Seth Putnam when they played The Rathskeller and he ran into his bus and hides.Cliff Burton laughed his arse off and told Us that the little shite 💩 deserved it for hitting on our friend Elsie lol 😂 I strongly disagree with the Big 4 not including Exodus’s Bonded By Blood 🩸 Cuz COMBAT Records employee had left the DATs on a shelf’s top rung. So Torrid @ had to pick it up and even though it wasn’t out there until’85, it was actually finished in August’82 so they were the only thrash metal band who had played when Hammett and Gary Holt had formed the band. Metallica hasn’t done anything worthwhile of listening to for over 33+ years now and don’t deserve their status people give them always stealing from the NWOBHM acts and calling it their own songs; Cuz it most certainly was NOT. Google that Exodus tale which is in the novella The Encyclopedia Of Heavy Metal 🎸 Ellefson was far too nice as to how he answered the questions.. total softballs from a 35 year old fanboy who wouldn’t say a bad thing about anyone from fear of being taken off of You-tube and Black Sabbath; Led Zeppelin and even VH dropped tuned taking it from the older blues men who had been doing this since the beginning of time Ffsakes; so get your shite straight Dave. I loved Gar Samuelson and the Chris Poland lineup and the first 4 albums are really the only reason why I admire them all. Aerosmith alongside Alice Cooper ended up suing Tim who’s been telling bands that he could get them all clean and sober then countersued for a million dollars afterwards Dave! Chris’sakes, stop dropping the names and go kill yourself ya fucking pussies ya. Nobody gives a shite about anybody else’s addiction folks. Trust Me on this matter and get to an AA meeting, get a sponsor and your white chip no matter how embarrassed about it ya’s feel towards it. That’s why rehabs are a great investment for folks who’ve got a few extra bucks, because people who are alcoholics and addicts will never get it that first time around so ya may as well take their insurance company’s money while you’re at it. Sincerely, DJP ex Anal Cunt; PostMortem and Kilslug Sony;Earache 🇬🇧 Columbia and TAANG!! Records @ ALL RIGHTS RESERVED so don’t even think about it cocksuckers who’ve read the Big Book (obviously this kid got a lot of favourites; doesn’t he. kiss arse faggot Lol 😝 F.O.A.D. and musicians are the last ones that wanna hear what they just got through playing this crap!! Ask any of those artists fellas! Chris’sakes dudes! Just blow each other already Boston Massachusetts Amerikkka naturally 😮Google US.GOV and find out what Mustaine’s been ready for the past 40 years and when it all began during both Soros and Schwab’s plans for depopulation and don’t get that jab! It’ll kill every single person who knows what I am talking about whenever they want Us outta this bigger picture!

If you are reading this, and are considering leaving, don't. Please, don't. If you think you can't make it another day, go to the hospital. Please.
I don't think I've connected with another comment on my channel more than yours. Thank you for sharing. I hope we may someday meet. Happiest Holidays to you and your family!
@iasknooonepodcast you too friend! Wish you all the best. Looking forward to many years or Christmas well wishes right here!
I sure hope one day Chuck Behler and Marty Friedman join forces with David Ellefson. That would be an awesome supergroup to see in the future
lol
Peter Beater the Bass Master
Good Dude He came to The Salvation Army and spoke when I was in Rehab
Cheers brother!! ☺
Lucky enough to meet Dave at KK'S Steelmill Great guy and an amazing show with
What would become KK'S Priest 🤘
How is this cast not much more known?!?
Thanks for the subscribe, NintenDub. IANO is just a hidden secret
@snwrist3 what happens between consenting "adults" isn't disgusting
@snwrist3 first off, she was the one that initiated the texting, there was no sexual relationship, so get off your high horse...
@@snwrist3 "business brand integrity" what albums that on again?
@Seed and you do?
I can't believe Mustaine went to go see Metallica and hung out with them backstage I'm 1986. My mind is blown.
If you dont look at the video and just listen, it's Dave Ellefson and Matt Dillon having a conversation.
I’ve always liked David. He’s the every persons rock star. My impression over 35+ years, he’s a good dude and incredibly talented musician.
His Coffee website you have linked does not work
Great interview!
"NO WAY OUT!" - Troy Sanders
How did you score such an amazing interviewee?
Long story short: Positivity. Thank you for watching!
I was fortunate enough to see Metallica open for Ozzy back in the day... We had gotten tickets because we were Metallica fans... Loved Ozzy but i had seen him many times before... Metallica was new and fresh back then and just what metal needed...
Thanks, Anti! Where did you see Metallica open for Ozzy? Also, what stood out to you about their performance?
Great interview
Thank you, Doolan!
Amazing podcast! ❤ I wish you asked more about Nick
Thank you, GS!
Love Ellefson, hes a innocent man.
Gilmour Pink Floyd LIVE was INCRED. - what balls to steal Pink Floyd
Dave is a real cool dude
Megadeth is nothing without Jr. I said what I said. He was there from the beginning and his contributions on the classic Deth albums are top notch. One of my favorite bassists ever
Did you really say what you said tho? I think you mean 'without'.
@@ludvig5597 Lol my bad. Definitely meant without
His bassline was the mtv news theme for like 20 years
Kings Of Thrash are incredible live
im surprised nobody brought up the incident
Thanks for watching, Mason. Closest we got to it was at 43:08.
I can't unsee it. It's literally the first response if you google it.
Don't watch it. He's whacking and nutting.
Mustaine needs to forgive him already I mean come on man , I did that shit in the mid 90s when the net was brand new.
@@TheAgentAssassin were you a pastor? were you 55 years old?
The door isn't the only thing his hands slammed into
So he jerked - who cares really.
Metalheads need to watch this to understand the importance of Metallica.
Because they evolved they get written off, but heres a guy who’s lived it, and is gracious enough to praise them.
Metallica kicks ass they are the top dogs.
A bit off topic, but what about interviewing someone who knew the great Sean Malone, who took his life in dec 2020?....
Thanks for watching, Nikkie! I am unfamiliar with Sean Malone's work. God rest his soul. I will look further into him. Appreciate your suggestion.
Id like Dave to do a record with Chris Poland. 🎉
I'm glad Dave move on with his life ..An his megadeth days are far behind him..💪🤘
it would have been more epic if david was still around when marty got up on the stage with megadeth.
Imagine that!
@@iasknoonewithkevin :D it has always been my wish to see dave, david, nick and marty together again even for just 1 show as megadeth. sadly nick can't be with us anymore.
@@jansandman6983 The RIP lineup truly would have been a magnificent sight. It's a shame they couldn't work it out. RIP Nick Menza (1964-2016) 🤟
Def Leppard Getcha Rocks off ........ Metallica Jump in the Fire ...... I hear much similarities between the 2 songs. I could hear James & Joe both singing the other song because theyre quite similar
Junior Dave!!!
Thank god Dave never got “happy”. Ellefson seems to have taken all of that as best as possible, but its pretty clear Dave M. has personal issues.
You think... Look at how many ppl has been in Megadeth over the years.
How does a guy get ahold of David ?
I got a great song in his style
For K.O.T. upcoming originals.
Thanks, Roger. Try David on his website: www.davidellefson.com/ 🤟

Becareful being behind the camera Dave lol
Megadeth had a rift with a band for 20 years? No way!!
DAVE AND NEWSTED! ANYBODY FEEL ME ?
David (I'm in a cover band) Ellefson
Sorry Megadave is the cover band - they have new members every other year.
Good to hear Dave is in a good place and has no resentments. I admit Mustaine let me down by not standing by his long time friend.
Ask him about the jail bait
56:48 C'mon Dave🤣
David: Hi, i'm here for my interview, do you want to do this on cam? Here, accept my invite.
Interviewer: Umm.....
I made the mistake of seeing if it exists on the net. It does , it's like the 3rd link in search engine.
FML
Now whenever I see him I can't unsee the nutting.
Oh. ...... I get it. Annnnnnd., NO.
Not cool. Ellefson is a very, very good guy. So that's not nice. Also, not funny even. Sorry pal
@@shaneculkin7124 I'm just kidding. As a bass player David SLAPS. He can really find the BEAT and when he hits those notes he really explodes.

My wife as been telling me for years now to destroy our sex tape from the 90s, I've been slow to do it,
cuz damn we look great.
Ha!
Paul Stanley wears a wig!
DId Dave not mention Blizzard of ozz? they put out the top selling metal debut of all time, gave Leppard an opening slot.
Blizzard kick started metal.....as the late 70s were being dominated by inferior musicianship with punk and new wave
Yes metallica changed the game wth the eponymous album and then their best album LOAD>
"The House Jack Built" or "Thorn Within"?
Load was great, but it was no where near their best.

Thanks for watching, Traal. During his brief stint in Metallica, did you know Dave Mustaine used to introduce Cliff Burton as such?
NOT FAIR AT ALL
hes still shilling that coffee
I love both Dave's and you are 100% correct.
Noooo he's a heccin Christian so I'm going to hold him to a different standarderino noooo
Wow, talk about a prude, who in this hell cares
I hate that him and mustaine and no longer friends, Megadeth is such a joke now it’s like gnr without slash and duff
Megadeth without David sucks.
megadeth without marty and nic sucks even more.
Show us your hands don’t do something stupid under the table
Shame he's just in a Megadeth cover band now.
More like the better parts of them.
Megadeth is the cover band
I enjoyed Kings Of Thrash more than recent live Megadeth
Dave has a good voice for radio announcer. Like he sounds like a radio host of some kind. Cool guy. Great bassist. Very professional.
Always thought that too, Rich. Specifically, from the bonus material in 'The Big 4: Live From Sofia, Bulgaria' (2010) 🤟
@I Ask No One® with Kevin Re LoVullo I have that double DVD, live in Sofia, the BIG 4.
really cool and yes it helps
Yaaaa waterrrrr coffeeeeeee really metal 😂
You'll grow up sometime
