The fact that the silverback stepped in and assumed responsibility for the infant when the mother couldn't was what made me teary eyed. What a wonderful daddy!
Having watched father gorillas at various zoos around the world it really isn’t surprising that Dad stepped in when Mum wasn’t doing well. Father gorillas are really amazing, protective, nurturing and gentle. Humans can learn a lot from them.
You can just see how much the zookeeper absolutely loves and is bonded with that little cutie pie. I swear I could feel the love he has towards the baby gorilla right through the computer screen.
EVERY baby gorilla that comes into this world is a precious gift. What an amazing job he and the staff did to get him past those critical moments so early in his life. Baby is so cute and looks so healthy. So happy that the little guy is a fighter. Can't wait to see him continue to grow into a handsome Silverback like his father.
It’s kind of incredible that they brought in a team of human baby doctors to take care of this gorilla, goes to show how closely related we really are!
Hope there is continued follow up on this precious gorilla baby. I pray he goes back to his family soon and they accept him and give him their loving care. That gentleman raising him so far has done an excellent job and I admire his dedication and that of all who have had a hand in saving this precious baby gorilla. Texas. USA
@@sonjavandam1306 No. They'd indicated that mom lost interest after he was taken; but I hope they are working with all three of them actively to get that baby back with them as soon as possible. It would be awful to think that the same disconnection could happen with Kauis and his family as did with Gentaro and his as a result of human intervention. It seems he is out of danger health-wise, so unless something else is going on ... some other unknown/unreported problems, why not release him back into the care of his family? Other keepers have done this when there was a problem of some sort with the infant and a subsequent mother-baby bond was impaired; they trained a surrogate to take over. In this case, they said father, Kisane, has displayed a non-traditional interest, so they could work with him as well. At any rate, he's so adorable; so I look forward to the day we get to see him interact with his relatives--- safely, of course.
@@fj2201 I have asked that question, but no body answers...Kaius looks chubby, I wouldn't mind betting he will keep him away until he is weaned..I wonder I'd chad has become too over invested, he should be not the only one, looking after kaius,,,.The family are very interested, and I think the humans are being unfair...Perhaps kaius draws more money I'd customers can get up close to a man holding this baby ape, as opposed to him being with his family, who may not even being him out of the house bit...Follow the money I reckon, as it is very obvious kaius is now healthier than most infants..All they let him do is a look behind bars at the family, but I think that is just so they can say..see we are doing it slowly...
@@bridgetmonica31 I'm concerned too at this point. Most of us are on the outside looking from afar and can mainly only speculate about what's going on there, but his family is missing all the highlights of his first year--- all the moments of precious cuddling and bonding as we would as fellow intelligent creatures. Again, unless there is some unseen danger, little Kaius and his family need to be reunited sooner than later. Hopefully, they've already been training them to bring him to get the bottle. What I'd really love to see these institutions start doing in cases of medical interventions is to work with mother gorillas to keep their milk flowing via the kind of pumps human women use during times of separation. They could freeze the nutrient-rich milk for the baby until they can be reunited.
You all did a great job saving this baby👏🏻👍🏻❤️. You make a great daddy❤️. I am so impressed with the care you gave this gorilla baby. You two are forever bonded.
I would have the most difficult time releasing baby kias back to the wild after taking care of him like this! I'm attached to animals and I would wanna keep him but I know he's going to get bigger and has to return to his natural habitat but my God he is cute 🫶 I love it
I have only just seen this for the first time, 2025. What a beautiful story. How is he doing today? I would love to see a story covering this beautiful and heartfelt story. ❤
A JOB WELL DONE daddy Chad, and everyone else involved. Ignor the do gooders who complain. We can't please everyone. The only worry is this Is precious baby❤
There was series (David Anttenburgh?) following 2 groups of wild gorillas. In one a mother died in a fall and her baby son, probably weaned by now, was immediately adopted by the male leader. He slept with him (on the ground as leaders do) and went to him for comfort and play. The little guy survived.
His mother didn't reject him. She wasn't feel very well & was going to have t have an operation to remove her placenta. The silverback sensed the mom wasn't well and took the baby pretty soon after birth. The baby had had no nourishment for the 14 hours he as with his father.
Chad you are so Awesome to Raise the Baby, The Zoo Should be Blessed to have a Worker, Like you, Awesome work that's what people call unconditional love for there Job, please send website to make donations to your zoo...
Spanish I follow Chad on Instagram, but I hadn't seen this video. The Zoo is doing a wonderful job and Chad is an excellent foster mom/dad to this little angel. Thank you, Chad.

This baby gorilla is literally sucking his thumb like a human baby would. He is so beautiful. I hope he was able to thrive.
