I'm tempted to buy this. But I have the 11 Doctors set. Hm...but these figures look so much better. But then again I need to be careful with money. God! Decisions, decisions!!!!
I recently purchased this set and I've got to say my favorite figure has to be the Season 18 Tom Baker, which has an amazing face sculpt and a far superior scarf paint work compared to the original figure
The original Sixth Doctor figure from the first wave of classic figures came with a sonic lance from 'Attack of the Cybermen' and the 2009 'Real Time' version of him came with a repaint of the lance based on its appearance in the flash animation of that story. The version in this set looks to be a totally new repaint of the lance however.
I remember visiting my local Smyths store (I think it was Smyth's) and seeing the 11 doctors set and not buying it as I didn't collect doctor who figures at the time, a decision I've regretted ever since, This is a must buy, are they the same as in the older set?.
No they are not same the older set did not have Peter Capaldi+ War Doctor and Colin Baker had his trademark suit not blue like here. And also Paul 8th Doctor went by his 1996 tv movie look while here they have gone with his Night of the Doctor look 1st Doctor William Hartnell suit better than old set. Basically same set just updated.
Whilst I prefer (most) of the figures in the Eleven Doctors figure set, this set is also a firm favourite of mine! Figures that stand out to me are The Second, Sixth, Fourth, and Seventh! I love the approach that they made in terms of pallete being based on their on-screen appearances, and this works well. Despite the inaccuracies, e.g the colour scheme for sixth and the bow tie on third, I still feel that the set stays strong and are inaccuracies I can manage. (not that I care) If I could change any figure from this set, I’d most likely go for a more trial of a time lord figure. But can I just say that you did a GREAT job at reviewing this set! To the point, something a lot of reviews don’t do, thorough, concise, and generally pleasing! Thanks again!
Well, this was actually better than I expected. My only big gripe with this set is that 12th Doctor figure. The regular release looked better for the soul reason that the clothing was at least painted the right colour. And.....pink lining!? What!?
Not to mention the Season 18 4th Doctor which not only has one of the best Tom Baker face sculpts, but is also quite rare as the original costs upwards to 100 dollars
I'm definitely going for this set when it comes out and I may be pushed to repaint 12 a bit. Really wanted a red velvet variant here... It would have been easy for Al Dewar (or whoever does this atm).
Two other ideas for 13 Doctors sets: 13 Doctors Regeneration Set (all 13 Doctors in the outfits they regenerated into) 13 Doctors Farewell Set (all 13 Doctors in the last outfit they wore right before they regenerated)
"...seen here in his outfit from his adventure Deep Breath." Even though it's the wrong colour and is lacking the jumper, which should've been there since the figure is essentially just an upscale of the 3.75 inch figure.
Like your review. I like most of the figures. They all look mostly good with nice detail. My favorite figure is probably the Fourth. I know you seemed more excited about the 7th Doctor and War Doctor figure and they were good. But I admit the Fourth Doctor sculpt and details, along with the scarf and Sonic Screwdriver, looked great!! I also like that the Sonic Screwdriver was firm in his hand. Anyway very helpful review. God bless.😀
I think they didn't go with a 7B Eleven as they have released the standalone of that recently ad part of their "Collectors Edition" branding of the 5" figures. They did Series 5-7 too but a different variation.
I'm on a severely limited budget, so have to consider that when looking at sets like this... If it weren't for a Christmas time discount, I'd never have landed the Eleven Doctors set, for example. Perhaps then I'm being overly critical with this set, but there's not a lot in it that would inspire a purchase. I much agree with you on the War Doctor paint apps making him look great, as well as the more screen accurate Seven. Four is pretty good looking, but I could do without the facial scarring on Eight. The only piece I really find myself desperately wanting is that Big Finish Six. I LOVE the all blue motif. Of course, this set will probably be the only place to get it, which sucks. Sadly, this set is a pass for me.
anyone else notice how from the war doctor to the 12th it goes from holding the screwdriver to upright to pointy than to the 13th it goes slightly up again, either it was a reference to old to young and to old again or just a fun little nod to how he slowly turns to holding it like a water pistol XD
I thought the paint was also very good on the Fourth but know mention of his figure towards the end of the video when you were mentioning the others. Also thought they did a great job on his very opened necked shirt.
the 1st Doctor in this set is from season 2 and while he did use his walking stick in that season he didn't use it all the time. The 2nd Doctor is from the Two Doctors and he wasn't shown to use his recorder and he appeared a lot older in that story than in his regular appearances in the 60s given that was near enough 20 years before 1985
Awesome review. I've been watching these reviews since 2012 and they always bring a smile to my face (it's so great to see the original Tennant again!) How many times did the figures fall over while you were setting up?
I want this set for teh 6th Doctor but have not seen 1 figure that doesn't have that huge gap in his left arm bicep joint. It seems to be a huge quality control issue across the board unfortunately.
Great review. I would also add that it says 'Twelfth Doctor from Deep Breath' but the costume is completely wrong for that episode, needs a white shirt and cardigan. It's just a bit weird when all of the others are pretty much spot-on for their given variants even if it's only slight paint re-tools of old sculpts.
I juust ordered it. Super expensive as it doesn't ship to Norway - but I'm not regretting spending some on it as I really get much pleasure out of having Orange Pertwee, Burgundy Tom and Blue Colin in my collection. The bruised McGann looks a bit shaite, but I'm sure it's better in person.
I just got this. SO happy to get a Season 18 fourth Doctor! Also, I lost the accessories from the eleventh Doctor set so it's nice to get those back, other then the cane and the recorder though.
He worded the sentence as if current Doctor Who has had more than 9 series', which it hasn't....they've pretty much only just started making series 10.
I said this on Facebook, but the info on the sixth doctor is inaccurate both his blue suit (as well as a black one once) and the sonic lance have been in the show. but again, as I said in the Facebook comment, there are over 300 episodes of doctor who, so its understandable little details like that were missed (little as in they were featured in one or two episodes)
When I get go a moment of using 5 inch figures of doctor who for a stop motion series of the Time War, the 8th doctor in this set with the damages brings accuracy along with the glossier war doctor for as he is at younger age with that spare face sculpt from the original war doctor set, and would at least repurpose the disappointing 12th in this set as somebody else for the project
11 also confused me, as, for the most part, this seemed like a "Regeneration" set, with the figures in their look just prior to regenerating. SURE, a few aren't quite right for that theory, but none moreso than 11. Still, while I have the 11 DOCTORS SET, and several solo figures, I think I will need to get this. I've been reluctant to crack my Burgundy 4th DOCTOR out of his packaging. Now, I won't have to. Thanks for the review!
Main things that put me off this set are the 10th Doctor as we've had that figure re-released constantly, why can't we have the sculpt with his hair spiked up? it exists, they could put that on the blue suit version with no over coat and it'd be different. Also, I like the added detail on the 4th Doctor but they could've done the shada outfit (I.e city of death version but with brown coat). 7th doctor could've had serious face with his hat and why didn't they do the 12th Doctor with his red coat from series 9? They've changed things but not enough to justify buying it in my eyes, especially for the price.
I'm with you although I really like the job they did on the Fourth Doctor figure. I would like them to finally do a serious set of the Fourth Doctor featuring Tom in all his different outfits, with a good face sculpt (like in this set), good accessories(like in this set) that are accurate to the outfits, his different companions and his two different Tardis interiors. I would spend the $125-200.00 for a set like that! God bless.😀
Awesome video! I remember the excitement of when I got my 11 doctors set so this is an amazing expansion. However, the sonic lance has been released before in the K1 collect and build series which I own. This version looks like it has black/darker blue paint while my version is blue, so at least there is some difference. Again, great video.
I only bought the 4th Doctor in his Season 18 costume from the 13 Doctors set, because that's the one I only want! I bought on ebay for $25 and it was worth it!
the 5.5 inch 12th doctor figure face sculpt is like that 3.75 inch 12th doctor figure(the one which did not have the red lining on its coat) face sculpt except it the 5.5 inch figure did just a small tad better
Would you recommend buying this? I don't really collect figures, nor do I have much room top put them anywhere, but I love the Third, Sixth, Seventh, and War Doctor figures. I like the other ones, except for Capaldi's Twelfth, I seriously have no idea how that one got into production. I have the money but I don't know if this is worth having or even something I'd enjoy owning.
Its strange that character didnt use a 7b variant with a different tie or waistcoat or even having a bells of st john version with braces and no waidstcoat
I can't believe I missed this! I normally keep close tabs on what's coming out and I completely missed this set. When did it come out? It can have been out long?!?!
Great review and agree with the lack of the Series 7B 11th. Very disappointed. The 12th on The Regeneration Set still has the better facial sculpt. Love the variants especially 6th BF version. Looks impressive enough a set.
I think that the Twelfth Doctor in this set should've been in the red coat with his new Sonic Screwdriver. Other than that, I'd pick up this set when I've got the money.
Really disappointed that we were given the later seasons fourth doctor outfit, sixth doctor big time suit and time war eight doctor. I thought it would be a given to have the classic fourth out fit. I don't listen to much big time finish so the blue suit of six was just strange to me and didn't know what it was before you pointed it out. And I would have loved to have the movie suit of eight. Don't care that seven was in his later suit, I prefer it more, and tweed eleven I bet than series seven b suit. Also what the hell were they thinking with twelve. Also I just bought this should I go back and buy the older set for a better 4,6,8 doctors?
Yeah was about to suggest you get the 11 Doctors set but if you've already bought this one then I'd recommend getting the loose figures you want from Ebay as it would be far cheaper.
Has anybody met Tom Baker recently? He has been at two different events in the last two months and is supposed to be a sweetheart as well. There are some great video's on RUclips of fans meeting him. I would love to but live in the U.S. and need to save up for a while.
just wondering will there be a character building/ Lego version like there was with the 11 doctors set also the blue suited 6th doctor is the real time version created because of the difficulties of animating the original outfit
Can you please make more modification videos as there really fun to watch because as you say you are not the best modder but you're quite good at making them :)
It's a shame that most Twelfth Doctor figures still references his very first look from the beginning of Series 8. His various Series 9 looks suit him much better. The figures should at least give him his longer hair which has been pretty consistent since it grew out.
Is it just me or does the 4th doctor figure looks FANTASTIC with AAND without his scarf
Not so much without. That's just a personal opinion

@@thatguyisthisguy yours.
Alectron8 oh... thanks?

yes i know i am just saying it would have been nice to see a 5 inch figure of it for collectors
and it is the next logical step after the tweed and series 7b figures
that coat was boring and useless
@@dimutis7983 True, it didn’t suit Matt Smith or his Doctor but it would be nice to see a figure of it.

Character did a version of the 6th doctor around 2009-10 that had a sonic Lance
Wasn't that an exclusive figure?
+RCC productions doubt it
The original Sixth Doctor figure from the first wave of classic figures came with a sonic lance from 'Attack of the Cybermen' and the 2009 'Real Time' version of him came with a repaint of the lance based on its appearance in the flash animation of that story. Character Toys has not yet made all the Doctors with wildly grinning and laughing/smiling faces in one set. That would be a great change of faces.

Great Review. I really think this set is worth getting. Pictures really just don't do it justice! It's so much better in hand.
Cheers man, yeah it's beautiful in person, save for the 12th Doctor.

4th Doctor 🧣
The most beautiful and highly detailed of all his figures released.
I only bought the 4th Doctor in his Season 18 costume from the 13 Doctors set, because that's the one I only want! I bought on ebay for $25 and it was worth it!
Infact The 10th Doctor wearsa light blue shirt, with the brown suit he wore a brown tie and in the blue suit the tie was burgundy
the 5.5 inch 12th doctor figure face sculpt is like that 3.75 inch 12th doctor figure(the one which did not have the red lining on its coat) face sculpt except it the 5.5 inch figure did just a small tad better
Tennant still gets kinda screwed articulation-wise.
At lease the Tuxedo figure has a lot of articulation
Wow! I love this set! I have the Eleven Doctors set and I don't mind getting this one as well.
Wasn't the sonic lance in Attack of the Cybermen?

You say we have not seen the sonic lance before? It came with the 6th Doctor and Stealth Cyberman from Attack of the Cybermen.
We haven't seen it with any other collection of Doctor figures before.
I see
We need an updated one with 13 and some updated figures
Why do some Doctors have more arm or leg articulation? Doesn't make sense to me.

David Dorrian don't feel bad, I missed the 13 figure AND 11 figure set too!

Yeah... Just a few
I bought it and it cost me $110 so good luck

Great review and agree with the lack of the Series 7B 11th. Very disappointed. The 12th on The Regeneration Set still has the better facial sculpt. Love the variants especially 6th BF version. Looks impressive enough a set.
Is it too much to ask to get a 10 figure with the shoulder ball joints and movable wrists?!
That sonic lance had been released already I believe.
I wouldn't expect new molds in a 13 figure pack.
I love the 8th doctors clothes in this. Any suggestions on how to get it?
Apparently the 12 sculpt is actually very good but it's let down by really thick paint apps. Check out customs but TOMFAN. :P Great review
Does anyone know if they're doing a 12th Doctor figure in this scale where he's wearing his Series 9 outfit with the sweatshirt?
It's funny because the 12 doctor's face look's identical to the 3.75 series.
Yeah was about to suggest you get the 11 Doctors set but if you've already bought this one then I'd recommend getting the loose figures you want from Ebay as it would be far cheaper.

great vidoe where did you get that its not in britan
just wondering will there be a character building/ Lego version like there was with the 11 doctors set
also the blue suited 6th doctor is the real time version created because of the difficulties of animating the original outfit
No... Character is out of business and Lego doesn't have any plans at the moment of doing any more Doctor Who items.
Why does 7 never get his hat.
