Chad this was a blast. Thanks for the opportunity to do this. And I want everyone to know I only have 50 or so planes. Chad is a bit more traditional then he lets on.
And Dan you are one funny dude. Keep up the good work.

A van is an essential item, for sure. I'm not a pro woodworker, but I have a high-roof Sprinter van. It's the bomb for hauling stuff. It also keeps things safe and dry, unlike a pick up truck.

I see your point. Actually my number one tool is my work van. Without it I can't buy material, tools, go on estimates, etc. So my top 10 are subject to change.:-)

Yes. I started with a contractors saw. If you are a beginner woodworker that saw will be fine. As your skill improves, so should your tools. You will know when it's time to upgrade. But be wise about it. Don't just buy tools because they are new. Learn about them and buy only if it will truly improve your skill level.

Thanks for the tips.I have no previous experience in woodworking, but I'm about to start seting up my first woodshop in one car garage, don't have much space. Also I cannot buy midrange table saws with cast iron tops, not available here. Only choice is contractor type table saws or verrrry expensive profesional fine cabinetmaking saws. And here's the question - is contractor table saw good enough to start making things from wood like furniture.. bed, table, cabinets etc? Is it precise enough?

Good list. It's sad, but I think you're right that the table saw is No. 1. You can do a lot w/ a table saw. Your other picks are all good too. Of course you really can't do much w/ just 10 tools. After all, you need drill bits, and you get at least 10 of those in a set. You see what I'm saying.
