How does this both inspire me immensely but also make me feel like I'm nothing? I love it!
i feel you
I honestly use these student reels so I have an idea of where "the bar" is in terms of skills. I'm not exactly there just yet but it motivates me to push further
Gnomon as a bar, at least for me equals absolute depression. It's the school I applied to only to be told "We only accept International and local students in California." Do not, I repeat, Do not go to The Art Institutes.
@@Samota0 Funny thing you mention The Art Institutes... I'm a student there but I definitely see why it's so shit. Most of the time I'm teaching myself industry level things (like what I said in my comment) and work tirelessly. It was the biggest mistake I'll ever make but it won't be the end of me. Just know the only reason I signed up with them was because they were the only school there and I never realized the Gnomon Workshop was a thing
@@HeyaHoyah I definitely understand the feelings there. I'm in Alabama, so there's no place that teaches game development. I dropped out 11 months into A.I's "Game Design & Art" area. While it teaches you a the fundamentals, you can't just step out of the door and jump into a company. If you don't put forth the effort to actually utilize the time you have while under their course, you're gonna get screwed royally. I'm currently in the Polycount Slack and they've told me time and time again to steady my practices. There are people from major companies who critique my work and do mounds of drawovers for people needing help. My entire perspective's been destroyed and reshaped, which sounds bad. It's honestly great.
Hey, @LumenLumen. Just wanted to make sure that you knew that we can only accept international and Californian students for our Online classes, but you're more than welcome to apply to study at our main campus in Hollywood, California!
this is still student level work, look at art station for masters
I'm an absolute beginner in 3D who can luckily afford to go to an animation/vfx institute in my country, but Gnomon is always light years ahead! This inspires me so much and also puts me in my place. 😂 I hope to make enough money in the future to go there haha.
It’s really disheartening when you and your family can’t afford this school whatsoever, no matter how much talent and passion u got
Honestly, the students of this school produce some of the most beautiful and inspiring work I have ever seen.
It's becos there teachers give a fuck about what we learn instead of just focusing on money thts why
@@bhavinb.artstation Bro the course costs upwards of 50k USD...
@@Enderplays12 Ik cos I have checked tht 😭 thts why I can't afford to go yet !!
My favorite artworks are the ones copied from movies or TV. It shows that even you can accomplish these amazing shots you see on the big screen.
Emotion 😳👏🏻 that’s what you have to feel when you watch a reel..and I felt it !! congratulations to all
Everyone watching these videos, you better work hard if you want to get in into this school. Also, it doesn't end there once you're in, because you'll obviously have to keep improving your skills.
Therefore, your mindset and actions will be major factor for your future successes.
3:28 looks freaking great!
I used to watch these reels when I was just an infant in this field. but now I am glad, I can make these, in fact at some point, I can do even better.
Hats off to the editor who put it all together in such an epic manner... 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
This is the most aesthetic video I've ever seen. I take my hat in deepest admiration. For every single artist and the editor. Chapeau!
I see very bright futures ahead, I’m trying to self teach 3D Modeling, Animation, Scripting, Rigging... It will take me much longer but I really hope I can one day produce something even half as good as one of these graduates...
Considering going their in the future as one of my options 😏😏😏😏😏🤔🤔🤔
Each of these sequences screams for a life with plenty of fulfillment - great job can't wait to see more from each of the students.
Gnomon school is best school in the world ❤️ 🤟👍
Under the supervision of the master himself, Sir Alex Alvarez. Great reel.
There are some very cool concepts displayed here. Very creative minds!!!
Gnomon is the Greatest. I love this
really u have done a fantastic job guys really it is one world best school
respect!I just graduated from school last year. I tried my best to be the best in school. then when I watched this I will think'well, let's go back to school again'.....
Great work guys!
I hate my daily job. You guys are freaking awesome.
You can always reinvent yourself and start over
Good luck
I looked at last years reel and saw that it was around this time when they released it. So I was waiting for this one :)
fabulous!!!
Amazing work
Dayum so coooool
this gets me really motivated
I want to be this good.. 🙏💯
So inspiring...
Fantastic
Very inspirational... awesome work!!!
I hope I can join the school one day....
Sir Alex, hat's off to you.
i've been wanting to go here for about two years now but its just so expensive (especially because im not from usa) :( i'll be graduating high school this year and im planning on getting an art & design degree in a local university first whilst trying to work on my 3D portfolio (so that i can get a scholarship!), hopefully in 4 or 5 years from now i'll be able to attend gnomon!
Don't worry, you got a long time. I started Gnomon at 32. lol
Honestly, with the plethora of information available today, you don't need an expensive art school to learn anything of what they have achieved. These folks created amazing work simply because they worked hard, not because they through a fancy school a bunch of money. :)
Love it!
in front of them we normal artists are like ground dust .....
Hahaha dont say that bro. I go to this school and believe me it ain't easy
😶😥😢😟:(
Same with me

And cedric peyraverney
And me at 3:49 ( www.artstation.com/artwork/EPRRv ) but the artist has given me credit on his portfolio so it's ok

Can you tell me what are configurations details of the computers used to give this beautiful showreel?
i dont know what "gnomon" is but i like it
And here i am learning zbrush myself...becoz nobody teaches all that here...😣
U can complain all u want or cry how much u want no one's gonna share it sucks but it's the fact stop complaining go find RUclips channels and learn from there there are many good artist at there go give the time nothing's gonna happen if u complaint
Astonishing work as always, but I think you know it too ;)
Do students need to be experienced with 3D software prior to applying or do they only need traditional drawing skills. In other words, do people coming into Gnomon already have 3D edication experience or can they enroll straight out of highschool, because what they do is obviously really good. What would be an average age of the students applying here?
Some students have 3D experience, but to apply, we look for a solid foundation in traditional art skills (www.gnomon.edu/admissions/domestic-students/portfolio/digital-production-bfa)--so yes, students can apply right of out high school. Age ranges tend to vary program to program though.
But damn my show reel will be to tell a story and to tackle the level of it....I can draw write and model...indeed I can tell a story too
Even after being in industry for years I feel like wtf am I doing
I'd love to see more of the giant mermaid battle. Is this it or is this a snippet of more?
You can find the whole short and breakdown on Alla Chernova's ArtStation page: www.artstation.com/artwork/L191R
Is this course available online ..iam from egypt ..can i learn ..this course
i wish to learn from there but i can't afford 😫
please expand your online course library
The author's name should be a little upper position pls, when the video paused, the name is covered by the youtube pannel.
Wheres 2020
wow
How much does it cost for a full bachelor's degree course?
It feels sad when you have talent but not financially strong to fulfill your dreams. Gnomon what is the max scholarship you can give to students?!
You can find more about our scholarship opportunities here (www.gnomon.edu/admissions/domestic-students/scholarships), but your best bet will be to talk to one of our admissions advisors to learn more (www.gnomon.edu/admissions/make-an-appointment)

I don't think so. I am a former active-duty Marine and went to Gnomon. Build that discipline and first in the Army then go to Gnomon after your contract.

I am new to 3d can someone tell me which of these are vfx and which are 3d animation?
Well, this is a layered question i guess, however take all that follows with a grain of salt since i am a student.
3d Animation is everything, where a 3 dimensional object is animated. So basically everything from the sheep from Wallace and Gromit to the Spaceship in Independence Day 2 is 3d Animation.
The real distinction lines are between realtime and offline rendering, or full cg(computer generated) and vfx, which is in most cases a Hybrid between compositing(basically photoshop for movies), real life footage and high quality 3d work, even though this term is also used for effects work in games.
As a basic parameter to which you can assign which is, at the current time some tasks are just to performance heavy to have it in a realtime application.
If something has lots of simulations ( Smoke, water, cloth, explosions, rbds) it is most likely offline rendering, since simulations are something you usually cut in a game/realtime context to get more performance. Same with high Polygon density. If something has a dense Main Mesh, it is made for offline.
This is the easy part, it is harder to draw a line between vfx and full cg, even though there obviously is one.
If there is at least one real world object or subject in the movie, it is vfx, this is how I would separate it, though, i am not really happy with that last part.

2:28 reminds me of god of war anyone else?
First, I need to improve my English before entering this kind of career.
I am a poor guy. My family can't afford it right now.
The audio is where I see the most disparity in quality. Do not need birds chirping continuously or crickets. Ever been outside in nature? Silence isn't a myth.
i can do a donut in blender
Great stuff but dislike the editing. Do you really have to sync montage with every beat with weird shots? Hurts my eyes.
Lot of Asians
I'm not a Gnomon
