The guy who voiced McQueen in this game was absolutely spot-on with his impression of Owen Wilson. I was shocked when I learned that it wasn't Owen playing him.
That Owen Wilson impression is absolutely perfect. It sounds more like Owen Wilson as Lightning McQueen than Owen Wilson sounded like Owen Wilson as Lightning McQueen in the first game.
Another Cars video? Have the grubby mitts of big Disney taken over this channel? And more importantly, will you be covering Planes: The Video Game and its exciting followup, Planes: Fire & Rescue?
Yes, please do cover Race-O-Rama. I think you'll like that game a lot. Also, I see you're using the PC version, so I'll say now that mods exist that improve it. There's Hi-Octane/Superdrive (two names due to community issues) which basically tries to combine the first game, Mater-National and Race-O-Rama into one game with additional enhancements and fixes and Cars: Mater-National - PCS3 Edition (by me) that ports the PS3 version of the game over to PC with a few minor enhancements. I think you might wanna give them a go; they're easy to install and improve upon the game in some kind of way. I'm also working on a mod called Cars: Mater-National Deluxe which attempts to improve the game in many different ways by adding missing characters, music and content (like adding music to the open world and such), although I don't know if it'll ever end up finished because I ain't much of a patient person - I barely finished PCS3. sorry if this comes across as mindless advertising really all i'm trying to do is give you and anyone else reading this comment a better time with this game
@@callum273b Do you think he'll like it better than mater national? How does it compare to the first game? Is the cast the same as this one or is the using the movie's cast?

Another great video. If you're gonna keep doing licensed games, you should check out Shrek 2 on the ps2. I remember liking it as a kid and id love to see how awful it actually is as an adult
I loved this game when I was a kid! Sadly though, my Wii broke some time ago and I wasn’t able to play the game, but two weeks ago, I found the game on Steam and bought it. The memories just came flowing back and it was good to finally be back

It's always nice seeing someone do a review on some random game you played as a kid. I have all three of the cars games on ps2 and enjoyed them, although I had no clue what I was doing most of the time.
Both Cars and Mater-National were my childhood! I remember liking the latter better as a kid but after replaying both years later I found myself preferring the original.
Didn't expect to see my comment in the video lol. As for the review...eh I guess you're right. Maybe I was blinded by nostalgia who knows. Regardless of it's major flaws however, Mater National will always be part of my childhood.
ok so fun fact, in the pc version (i grew up playing this one on pc) if you become monster mcqueen and go to the cozy cone, you can jump onto the roof and into the building. my dad showed me this and it started me exploring this and the first game a lot when i was a kid looking for glitches like that
@minimme Did you know that there is a mod for Cars: Mater-National? This mod is called Cars Superdrive. It adds better character models, new music from other Cars games, and edits to Story Mode. It even adds other characters from Race O Rama and even the first game! In the mod is also tracks from the first game and some from Race o Rama. I'd reccommend giving this mod a shot as it does make Cars: Mater-National much better!
It’s crazy how much of Disney Infinity Cars playset was inspired by this. I think it’s a perfect balance of the first Cars game, Race o Rama, and Cars 2.
Im new here and it looks like im staying, i like your reviews alot. Cheers. And yes, absolutely check out Race-O-Rama, i have fond memories of that as a kid but i dont remember much specifically so that would be interesting.
Loved these games. Only problem with this game was on how short it was. I loved how u can use a metal detector and build Monster McQueen and actually drive him in freeroam. I loved how slightly different Radiator Springs was, Ornament Valley was really empty in the first and looked a lot cooler. Review Race O Rama next.
Im surprised, I never thought Mater-National was so much like Race'O Rama, I say that since the overworld and GUI look very similar. Anyway though, I would recommend trying Race'O Rama since even though it is kinda similar to this game in my experience (a long, partially gone experience) it still has quite a lot of different things? I might just be another person brainwashed by childhood.
I got the first Cars game because the Gamestop employee decided to follow the rules and say I was too young for Cars 2. After I finished the game I got Race-O-Rama and Maternational.
I really hope you'll look at Cars 2! I had a ton of fun with that game. It drops the open-world gameplay for a much more Mario-kart style racing experience, and it has a TON of playable characters.
I own every Cars game and my favorite one out of all of them is Race-O-Rama. My least favorite pre-Cars 2 is Mater-National, and I believe that's the same with most of the modding community, too (but I haven't talked with them in a while so I might be wrong). And just a heads-up, if you review Race-O-Rama, you'll have to get used to the frame rate dipping every now and then.

I grabbed mater national from steam during the corona outbreak and let me tell ya, the superdrive mod is amazing! Literally every character and stage from the first game and even some from race o rama are playable. I quickly learned how to add more racers to road races and how to add certain characters to events they normally wouldn't be playable on ( added the piston cup racers and the monster trucks to road races) Modding the game is definetly the definitive way to play it, not only in single player but in split screen too: played it with my bro, we had fun testing all the new characters and stages, luckily the game has controller support for the xbox one controller

I absolutly loved the first Cars game on the original Xbox. I was so excited when I heard the squeal was coming but I was also disappointed honestly. The worst part was there was no music in open world unless you were standing close to an event which I always thought had to be a glitch as it was a really stupid reason to not have music in the open world. By the time Race o Rama came out I was already grown out of the games sadly.
