An important thing to remember when mining for diamonds: Make sure you have the following enabled: •Debug mode (press F3 on your keyboard) •Chunk borders (press F3 + G on your keyboard) The first one is obvious. You need to know what y level you are at to find diamonds at all. The second one, that being enabling chunk borders, requires some explanation. You see, Diamonds generate in a very similar fashion to Ancient Debris (the block that gives you access to Netherite tools). Ancient Debris and Diamond Ore both are limited to spawning only 1 vein of their respective material per chunk. This means that when you mine for either, the instant you find either ore vein, you stop mining in your current chunk and head straight to the next one (since there won't be any other veins in that chunk). This cuts down mining time by a lot, since you don't have to clean out the full 256 blocks (or 4 stacks of blocks) to clean out a chunk. This also makes gathering the throw away blocks a lot faster. I personally don't use this method in my current world that often, since I don't hoard diamonds, I can get diamond enchanted gear from villagers anyway, and since a lot of my builds use stone and its many variants. However, if you want diamonds as fast as possible, I recommend you do it the above way. Edit: This trick can only be performed if you can open the debug menu, so ps4, xbox, and bedrock edition players will have to use slime chunks to find the chunkborders
@bruh moment_69 the only method i could think of is to find a slime chunk by mining out a large area, then manually mapping the chunks with fences. On mobile/console it is just faster to mine out the entirety of each individual chunk
I just mine in a straight line hoping for a cave, it’s not that effective or efficient but I always get like 10 in the end Edit: why is this getting so many likes

Statistically, it’s better to have 3 block intervals instead of the 2 block ones you were using in the 1st and 2nd strategies. Although you will leave more diamonds, you will find them faster. It’s because most Diamond veins are at least 2x1x2 (x, y, z) so nearly all of the time you will find them, and when you don’t, they are small veins. So although you find less diamonds in the same amount of space, you cover ground faster, and get diamonds faster overall. Also, your 3rd strategy is limited by the speed you run, so it would benefit by a speed beacon. Normal beacon mining can also be better than your third one anyways.

@@qpginger7750 I just use villagers so that if something like that happens then I could always trade for all my armour and tools back without wasting diamonds
Ive waited on a video for this that goes into as much detail as he did about the actual process since i was a kid and im extremely thankful for this video, dude, you made a lot of people happy 😁
When you start out though, you don't have diamond pickaxe. You usually have a stone pickaxe and 1 iron one that you are saving for mining diamonds. Definitely you won't have such enchantments. So finding diamonds for the first time on a server will take much longer than that....
After finding your first 5 diamonds you can get a pickaxe and enchanting table. Plus get trades like fortune 3 fairly easily from librarian. I had a fully enchanted diamond pick after 2 days in my newest surv world. Went mining right after getting the pick and got 2 stacks of diamonds within a couple hours
@@cyanidesungrl to get a librarian you need to go to the nether without armor :)), find a fort, get blazing rods, make an xp farm, get zombie villagers, cure them :))). So yeah possible but after playing 20 hours a day for 2 days, I can do that too. :))
A lot of people prefer to mine at y11 for that reason IMO beacons take long enough to set up and put down that you ought to put it at y5 in a badlands biome, mine out y5 to y11 completely, then mine out a bunch of random shit above it for gold/iron/coal and terracotta
So here what i learned from this video Strip mining: is the least effective way to find diamonds but in my opinion is much more organized Mole hole: is the second most effective and is easy to understand But it may be hard to see the diamonds at the very top of the hole Beacon mining: is the most effective in finding diamonds and is very efficient. But many extra blocks are dropped and you pickaxe (as shown in the video) can break very unexpectedly also you have to kill the wither sooooo
Do not forget that this was done with Lava or more to the point LACK OF LAVA in mind. When you do this in a real survival world Mole Hole tends to get you killed.
The thing I hate most about Minecraft is that it takes forever to mine. Now that I’ve learned that there is a diamond vein every chunk (on the levels it spawns at) I just mine an entire chunk.
1: mine in mountain biome. (I’ve seen plenty of diamond blocks there) 2: mine closer to bedrock. Y 5-15 3: searching around other resources (coal, ore, gems, dust) may be helpful. 4: efficiency 4, mending, and beacons can help speed. 5: can build a red stone mining rig.
I combined the first two where I dig in a straight line at Y11 then whenever I need to place a torch i’ll just dig 5 down and see if i find any diamonds below me
Since I can't kill a wither I'll just have to go with the gopher holes, lol. Edit: near endless experimenting and googling, I can now kill the wither after I get 3 more heads. This will be my first wither. I may be cheesing it but a beacon is a beacon.
thank you for providing visuals as you go through the tutorial. feels like in survival crafting i always have 8 tabs open just so i can do that one thing. but i have to build a farm, conquer a nation, and explore the outer edges of the universe to obtain materials to get said thing
Hey Chapman, maybe to make worth the test, you should test all methods on the same area and reload the backup the map between each one to not count on the RNG
I recommend the crawling/swimming mine method since it covers more blocks faster if you dont have a beacon but anyways diamond mining will be quite obsolete soon bc they are so common in the newest versions.
Since diamonds spawn in a 2x2 block pattern, it's more efficient to space your window-shafts with 3 blocks between each window... you'll still see the diamonds and save a lot of time!
@@overhaul5548 Mending is an enchantment which uses some of the XP you earn to repair your armor, tools, et cetera. Combined with Unbreaking III, an enchantment that reduces the odds of using up your equipment's durability, your diamond and netherite gear can last forever if used properly. (I can explain how to repair your gear with mending, and how to get tons of XP & enchant properly, in a separate comment if you would like.) Once you have all this stuff, iron becomes more important than diamonds. Iron is used to make tons of redstone machinery and related blocks. One such block, which you need tons of despite being very expensive in terms of iron, is the hopper.
@@overhaul5548 First, you have to put the Mending enchantment on your gear. It's one of a few special enchantments in the game called "treasure enchantments," which cannot be put on your gear at an enchanting table. You can, however, find books that contain the mending enchantment, and put it on your gear with an anvil. I strongly recommend putting other enchantments on your gear first, and then putting mending on it after the other enchantments, because an enchantment table can only enchant something that has NO enchantments on it. The best way to get a book with Mending is to get a librarian villager who has it in his inventory. So go find a village! Once you're at the village, see if you can find a librarian. If you can't, break a villager's job block (explained later) and replace it with a lectern. He should become a librarian right afterwards. Villagers' inventories are set from the moment they are assigned a job and, if you have never traded with them, can be reset by breaking their job block (all villagers have blocks that help control their jobs and inventories). If you have traded with them, their inventory is fixed forever. So you have to get a librarian villager and find out the first trades in his inventory by looking at his trading window; do NOT trade with him unless he has the enchantment you want (in this case, Mending). Repeatedly break his lectern -- that's his job block, but other types of villagers use different job blocks -- and replace the lectern. Each time you set the lectern back down, his inventory will update once he links to it. Check to see if he has mending; if he doesn't, break the lectern again and put it back down again. Keep doing this until he has Mending. Now, you need emeralds and books to get a Mending book from him. Books are crafted from leather and paper. Get leather by killing cows, horses, llamas, and hoglins. Get paper by farming sugarcane and crafting the sugarcane into paper. You can sell excess paper and books to the villager for emeralds. Also, check out the trades of his fellow villagers! Common items like rotten flesh, sticks, carrots etc can be sold to various kinds of villager. They'll give you the emeralds you need to buy Mending.
@@overhaul5548 After your gear has mending, you will need to get XP in order to repair it. XP is also used to enchant stuff in the first place, so you'll need to get it to access Minecraft's late-game content. On current Bedrock edition -- and I think this is the same for Java -- the fastest way to get XP is by building an autofurnace. Smelting grants XP in Minecraft, but the advantage of the autofurnace is that it stores the XP from everything you ever ran through it. An autofurnace consists of one or more furnaces connected to three hoppers: one hopper feeds into the furnace from the top, another feeds in from the side, and a third collects stuff from the bottom. Place fuel in the side one, place blocks and items you want to smelt into the top one, and feed the bottom hopper into a double chest. That will collect all the stuff you smelt. The design looks a bit like this ruclips.net/video/A3Xg9D2xs9k/видео.html&ab_channel=RogueFox Although I personally place the bottom chest below, rather than to the side, and I hop the fuel in from behind the furnace rather than from the side. Just make sure that the bottom part of any hopper points where you want the items to go. The last thing I add is a solid block immediately next to the bottom hopper, and a lever placed on that solid block. Pulling the lever emits a redstone signal that "locks" this hopper, preventing it from pulling items from the furnace. You can then remove items from the furnace and collect the XP the furnace is storing. If you have run tons of blocks through your autofurnace, removing a single block can fully repair any item that has Mending on it.

9:26 That is a whole bunch of double exposure. Could vastly improve this method by mining 3 out, then 5 up, repeat; instead of your 2 out, then 5 up, repeat.
very good methods and video, thank you. just a friendly idea coming from a complete noob here: it could be good to explain first that you had a silky touch pickaxe on purpose so that you can mine the block out as ore and not diamonds themselves, so then later you can put down the ore again and this time use a fortune enchanted pickaxe to get more out of it. you skipped over those details as if everyone is supposed to know this but i don't. now i know i have to get silk touch first and also shoot for a fortune enchantment. technically i would say these details are mandatory to get "this many" as you do in this video. just a thought

this was really helpful. i didnt expect to find better ways to mine effiecently
I cannot express how much I appreciate you doing acutally serious tests on diamond mining. Unfortunately 30 minutes still includes some rng
I will do them all in the same time
Dig forwards , up , right and left.
Random recommended video. Just started playing Minecraft awesome vid earned a new sub.
15:36 does anybody else see that picture down that hallway xD
i did the second method because I haven’t gotten a beacon yet, lava is a huge problem, for example my controller died and I burnt to death.
Wow that must've suck
@@angadjoshi7909 Yeah I lost 24 diamonds and a god pick. luckily my fishing luck was insane and I got it all back.
Great video Chapman... Im used to high energy chappy... Sometimes you gotta get back to basics.. Happy new year
When you start out though, you don't have diamond pickaxe. You usually have a stone pickaxe and 1 iron one that you are saving for mining diamonds. Definitely you won't have such enchantments. So finding diamonds for the first time on a server will take much longer than that....
Exactly
worse than that, he is using netherite pickaxe with max enchantments...
Just make a xp potato farm
Below 11 I usually encounter a lot of lava
A lot of people prefer to mine at y11 for that reason
IMO beacons take long enough to set up and put down that you ought to put it at y5 in a badlands biome, mine out y5 to y11 completely, then mine out a bunch of random shit above it for gold/iron/coal and terracotta
Also worthwhile to set up a second beacon on the same pyramid with speed II
me: sees this video.
my xray resource pack: Have i been beckoned?
This was a very helpful video! I'm only trying method 1 but so far i've got 16 diamonds in 6 minutes thanks!
I don't understand why are you so underated
So here what i learned from this video
Strip mining: is the least effective way to find diamonds but in my opinion is much more organized
Mole hole: is the second most effective and is easy to understand
But it may be hard to see the diamonds at the very top of the hole
Beacon mining: is the most effective in finding diamonds and is very efficient. But many extra blocks are dropped and you pickaxe (as shown in the video) can break very unexpectedly also you have to kill the wither sooooo
maybe in mole hole then use fullbright
@Chrissy boi good point
(I’ve seen plenty of diamond blocks there)
2: mine closer to bedrock. Y 5-15
3: searching around other resources (coal, ore, gems, dust) may be helpful.
4: efficiency 4, mending, and beacons can help speed.
5: can build a red stone mining rig.
This is great, but in the new 1.18 update the damn developers reduced the diamond amount. So now you can only find very few in veins
I combined the first two where I dig in a straight line at Y11 then whenever I need to place a torch i’ll just dig 5 down and see if i find any diamonds below me
me: tries this on my world
lava: Well hello there
also me: I quit imma go fishing I hate lava
Since I can't kill a wither I'll just have to go with the gopher holes, lol.
Edit: near endless experimenting and googling, I can now kill the wither after I get 3 more heads. This will be my first wither. I may be cheesing it but a beacon is a beacon.
thank you for providing visuals as you go through the tutorial. feels like in survival crafting i always have 8 tabs open just so i can do that one thing. but i have to build a farm, conquer a nation, and explore the outer edges of the universe to obtain materials to get said thing
Hey Chapman, maybe to make worth the test, you should test all methods on the same area and reload the backup the map between each one to not count on the RNG
honestly, you should be comparing how many veins were exposed, not how many diamonds or diamond ores you got
Yeah it’s still clear that the beacon method is the best and than the second one
Love u chappy
I love him more
Me: let’s gooo 12 diamonds in only one hour i am a goat
Me now: 😰😭🤦♂️😭
ruclips.net/video/AVenCaYI-iE/видео.html
I recommend the crawling/swimming mine method since it covers more blocks faster if you dont have a beacon but anyways diamond mining will be quite obsolete soon bc they are so common in the newest versions.
Since diamonds spawn in a 2x2 block pattern, it's more efficient to space your window-shafts with 3 blocks between each window... you'll still see the diamonds and save a lot of time!
I was doing this but just found an emerald ore
You can find emerald ore in mountain biomes! Good find
ruclips.net/video/AVenCaYI-iE/видео.html
Then you just might be in wrong biome
Your editing is fire, I'm glad I stumbled on to you
This guy is the luckiest strip miner I only get like one set of diamonds every 30 minutes
And not a single cave, and no mobs spawning in the dark. The luckiest, or it's something else.
Thanks for the tip! :) i love this method so much that i spend a lot of time mining diamonds
Once in a while someone thinks of something especially impressive. Good job.
#savesilktouch by holding it while fortuning your ores... r.i.p.
... or just use Fortune and mine out all coal so it repairs itself, then bring shulker boxes along to store your loot
Ppl playing in 1.18: ayo what the y11 doin?
Iron > Diamond
Once you have mending you need waaaaay less gear... but you'll always need hoppers.
Hi, I'm new to the game. Can you explain why and how? I would really appreciate it.
@@overhaul5548 Mending is an enchantment which uses some of the XP you earn to repair your armor, tools, et cetera. Combined with Unbreaking III, an enchantment that reduces the odds of using up your equipment's durability, your diamond and netherite gear can last forever if used properly. (I can explain how to repair your gear with mending, and how to get tons of XP & enchant properly, in a separate comment if you would like.)
Once you have all this stuff, iron becomes more important than diamonds. Iron is used to make tons of redstone machinery and related blocks. One such block, which you need tons of despite being very expensive in terms of iron, is the hopper.
@@B463L thank you l. And yes, I would also like to know how to repair mending.
The design looks a bit like this ruclips.net/video/A3Xg9D2xs9k/видео.html&ab_channel=RogueFox
Although I personally place the bottom chest below, rather than to the side, and I hop the fuel in from behind the furnace rather than from the side.
I don’t know why but these videos are so peaceful 😆

I did the second method on my hardore map.
Lets just say i ran into a ravine
Then i only had 1 heart... so i died to a creeper dats my story thank u for ur time thnk u
Thanos for this the first method made me find diamonds straight away
"Strip Mining", but it's actually Branch Mining. Strip Mining is when you strip away layers of surface material.
We can all agree that the 2nd method not only finds you more diamonds but also it takes much less durability of the pickaxe.
9:26 That is a whole bunch of double exposure. Could vastly improve this method by mining 3 out, then 5 up, repeat; instead of your 2 out, then 5 up, repeat.
I want to say that’s what he meant cuz I thought the same thing.
Spoiler alert: insta-mining is fast.
The third tier, you need to first kill the wither, also you need 1,476 gold ingots and at that point why would you even want more diamonds.
There’s a lot to do after the wither.. and you can even do the wither before ender dragon
You can kill the wither pretty easily with end portal method. Also I have an iron farm for the pyramid
u can make an iron farm instead
very good methods and video, thank you. just a friendly idea coming from a complete noob here: it could be good to explain first that you had a silky touch pickaxe on purpose so that you can mine the block out as ore and not diamonds themselves, so then later you can put down the ore again and this time use a fortune enchanted pickaxe to get more out of it. you skipped over those details as if everyone is supposed to know this but i don't. now i know i have to get silk touch first and also shoot for a fortune enchantment. technically i would say these details are mandatory to get "this many" as you do in this video. just a thought
Chapman: “finds diamond ores.”
Chapman: OOOooooooooooo
The other reason that the gopher hole method is done on eye level y:5 is because any lower and you would constantly run into bedrock
You’re mine so confusing 😭😭 the book makes sense but then when you show it’s like your mine wraps all the way back to the original places and you keep going left into tunnels and etc 😭
