Life gain heck yeah! I'll probably be experimenting with this combo quite a bit once I have 4 of each combo piece. I've recently been hooked on combo pieces that I can get out at instant speed with Live or Die. But the life gain theme really doesn't have a way to put stuff in graveyard. We'll see how it goes :) 19:45 Definitely feels like a misplay to wait for the Gambit to be gifted rather than destroying it the moment the opponent tapped out. Not saying I'd play the game any better, but that moment had me flailing at my monitor haha~
nice to see your take on this! I imagine we'll be seeing a lot of this deck in the coming years. Made my own take on it and went for a more combo-way with lively dirge and push/pull - kinda afraid to take it out to the ladder, but it's been pretty fun in the play queue. Your deck def seems more viable, I'll save up some wildcards fir the stuff I'm missing
9:09 cool interaction, didn't realize you would gain 10 life from both copies but I guess since combat damage happens at the same time they see it as a single occurrence of life loss
My best experience with this deck is when I had the combo on board and my opponent blocked with Faerie Dreamthief and immediately exiled it to draw a card a lose a life, thus triggering my game winning combo.
I feel like if you're running Authority of the Consuls, it might make sense to run Stroke of Midnight as not only removal, but as another means to start the life gain combo.
Next legend I’ve had this crime novelist deck in the works for a while now using all the spell bombs and his like modern day eggs i wanna see if you can break it so at some point it would be a treat to see if you could
i like your decks as they are very viable...a lot of content creators just cook or copy and paste other creator decks and click bait. i had something similar to this deck but after watching this video added the tomes which really glues this together and ran out of rares for irengrag (which i dont think is strictly necessary)..only thing mildly different is i have a forlorn flats as lands....proper funny when a land activates the combo and wins the game
Just crafted this deck. First match against mono red ez win, the next 6 matches against heavy control that just had to counter a few cards. 1-6 currently 😢
Curious to your thoughts, would you think a Duress would be helpful in this deck? It feels like opponents would hold removal just waiting for the combo to go off. If you were to add Duress to the deck, what would you remove? Thank you in advance, HUGE fan!
Do you think gum drop posioner has a slot in this deck the food token seems like it'd be a good piece to trigger your life gain at any point if you have the combo set
Ideally want to combo without needing additional mana. The deck doesn't have enough creatures to justify Case of the Uneaten Feats, so Tome is the best way to do it besides attacking.
In match 3, after your opponent casts the first Greed's Gambit, they tap out at the end of your turn to draw with the tome. Isn't that the perfect time to cast Get Lost given you know they are very likely to be able to gift it to you next turn and have counterspell up? Letting them untap with all that mana gives them a lot more options, I don't understand what the benefit would be to wait until they try to gift it.
Waiting makes them commit one of their gift effects so they won't have them to gift a potentially game-winning Demonic Pact. Running into a counterspell is not ideal, but we need to flush those out if we eventually want to set up our own combo.
I’ve seen some running it. Arena is probably better against red or other aggro match ups since you lose 1 life and you hopefully are playing your combo instead of the demon.
I may be missing something but couldn't you have get lost targeting the greed after your opponent passed it? Seemed you said you were one turn late when you drew it the next turn when you could've played it anyways
It's an option, although in a control deck it's iffy to include creatures that don't block. We wouldn't be able to leverage the cheaper cost as much as lower curve lifegain aggro decks.
Quick question pls, are there cards in the Foundations set that you can't get by opening packs from the store? (Cards with the Foundations star symbol from the main set - not the special ones without the star symbol)
@@kennyd3982 For now you can use wildcards, no idea if there will be other ways to acquire them. Possible some cards appear in Foundations Jump-In events, but haven't verified.

@@LegenVD Sure, but it also lets you "combo off" easier on turns where you're strapped for mana or worried about counterspells. Being able to drop the bat and fire off a Mazemind lifegain trigger to win is easier with 4 total mana instead of 6, especially if you're expecting a Phantom Interference or something similar. I think both have their merits and I'm a sucker for redundancy. I would have probably at least tried 1 or 2 copies of the bat but not more than that.
@@ForeverLaxx For sure, in my first drafts I had the bat and cards like Case of the Uneaten Feast to immediately set up the combo, but gradually moved in a more controlling direction with fewer creatures, which seemed to work out better in the current meta. The main hurdle is typically getting Conqueror to stay in play, so I'm less worried about having redundancy for the other combo piece. Don't forget you can always just tap Mazemind tome without paying any mana to kick-start the combo.
@@LegenVD I mean, Scrying with the tome to win just makes using the bat even more attractive as that's only a 2 mana investment. Again, though, it's just the "back up" option that has high value against counterspells while the snake has better value against spot removal due to it coming back as a non-creature enchantment. Obviously the actual bottleneck is the Conqueror. You almost have to run Blue if you want to protect it adequately. I can actually see a version of this deck using Coiling Rebirth as a way to recover and win on that turn, too. Gifting a card won't matter and the stats of either creature won't matter either. Something to consider maybe.
All these damn healing decks made me spend mythic cards on screaming nemesis. Summon it and use lightning on it and then these heal decks crumble QUICK.
Should have been in full control mode, you could have simply responded to their tomb draw activation which left them tapped out and blown up their gambit while the tomb trigger was still on the stack. ruclips.net/video/JU0yE4hZcYs/видео.html That misplay was ultimately what lost you the match as it let them snowball card advantage and put you on a timer.
