    I know you technically got your money in good in that bomb pot, but the odds of that being true were close to 0. With that many players, I'd expect someone to have the same straight draw and another to have a higher flush draw plus probably a set instead of two pair at best somewhere for even worse equity. You could so easily have been drawing dead to a chop - I think you just have to fold.

    • @dougmccuskerpoker

    Hey Doug, I'm sure you're aware but you're technically 3 betting too wide. Especially when out of position you're just bloating the pot and putting yourself in a tough spot. Fortunately your opponents don't do this but technically someone could pick up on this and 4 bet you wide and make life difficult for you. Love your videos just thought I'd offer an unsolicited piece of advice to chew on 😅

    • @dougmccuskerpoker
      @dougmccuskerpoker  Год назад +2

      Thanks for the feedback! You are correct, most of the players don’t make that necessary adjustments. Instead they tend to over fold. There are a few players that would 4 bet, I make adjustments so that I’m not exploited. I appreciate your thoughts, hearing ideas from strong players makes me a better player. 😀

  • @stevelc1531
    @stevelc1531 Год назад

    I think you didn’t play that first AK hand very well. Two callers preflop and they both call your large Cbet on the flop. Alarm bells should be going off and then you bomb the turn. Not your best play for sure.

    • @dougmccuskerpoker
      @dougmccuskerpoker  Год назад

      True, I tend to play my first hand overly aggressive to set the tone. Obviously it was very optimistic of me to fire the turn.

  • @elskid206
    @elskid206 Год назад

    So you had the seven six of spade and flopped possible straight and a possible flush.
    Nobody really seem to bet with any conviction or energy, and so you decided to bet strong.
    My first thought was that dry looking flop may have worked for some of the others because they weren't very energetic pre-flop.

    • @dougmccuskerpoker
      @dougmccuskerpoker  Год назад

      no action pre flop, was a bomb pot. Thought there was a small chance everyone would fold, but if called, I had tons of equity with my draw. Little splashy but I don't mind mixing it up with such a big draw. Would do the same with sets, 2 pair, as well as with monster draws.

  • @guillermoalvarez9400
    @guillermoalvarez9400 Год назад

    You’ve mentioned in a couple comments here that you to set the tone with aggression early on, to be unpredictable etc. Do you still do this even if you think it’s a clear punt just for that sake? I hate being stuck and thought of as a maniac because if you go card dead you’re screwed cause you can’t bluff as easily

    • @dougmccuskerpoker
      @dougmccuskerpoker  Год назад

      if I thought it was a pure punt, no, I wouldn't blast off. I felt I could garner folds from his weaker good hands. Obviously he was stronger than I thought.

  • @MaydayAggro
    @MaydayAggro Год назад +1

    First hand: Punt. You stated prior to the flop that you expect villain to have broadways and mid pairs. The flop hits the mid pairs and you block most of the broadway hands. (Villain cold-called your 3b pre, so I discount QJ quite a bit meaning villain is weighted toward value.) I would just check this flop. Once villain calls two bets, I think you have to assume villain has minimum Tx in his value range.
    Second hand: "I gotta believe that they're kinda weak" - That does not apply to every person in the hand. The first caller, with so many behind, has to have something. The same can be said about the first couple behind, although they do have a bit more dead money in the pot. I think this is a bit of a punt too. I would have just called the flop bet. There is no doubt you can get all in by the river if you hit your hand, so why bloat the pot? (SPR is less than 3 to one otf.)
    AJo (11:59): I'd just cbet small on that flop. It's great for your range, and in my calculations, your share of the pot is WELL over 33%, and you have a ton of nut hands here. A small bet, imo, cleans up some of your equity and may fold out pp lower than TT. When the river bricks the flush draw and does not add to the straight possibilities, I think I might even overbet. Villain might be suspicious that you missed, and he can have a lot of bluffcatchers (Kx, Qx, 2p, sets).
    AA (20:12): I am not sure I like the bet on the T86 board so multiway.
    63s was wp. Maybe not technically in BB's preflop calling range (because your equity does not increase at the same rate as the pot odds), but every once in a while to show you will mix it up is fine. Post flop play is good. Keep in mind that this player bets straights with a 3-flush. That is valuable information for future hands. Many players bet only a flush here.
    Good job making up your stuck-ness!

    • @dougmccuskerpoker
      @dougmccuskerpoker  Год назад

      First hand I tend to play overly aggressive, want to set the tone. It was optimistic of me for sure. Bomb pot, a call was standard. Just thought a big raise might either take it down or at least get some folds from someone calling for a T gutter. That way I pick up some more clean outs. I don’t mind the variance on big draws. AA hand I was heads up on the side pot, the other player was all in. The side pot player was calling loose after a couple beats, he said he thought about calling me down with a small pair because he thought I was on AK. 63 hand, player just decided he wasn’t folding a straight in that spot, so he jammed to deny equity to all my weaker holdings. Happy to get even. 😀

    11:42man trips vs a blocker bet on the river, you gotta raise for value. How are all these 1/3 games I see on youtube such big games? Literally every 1/2-1/3 game in the midwest is $300 max buyin. Also, checking back a AQx as the preflop raiser screams aces and you don't protect your c-bet range by not c-betting. Luckily, most people don't think about that when you c-bet the A high board with the J8s and you got away with it.

    • @dougmccuskerpoker
      @dougmccuskerpoker  Год назад

      The 1-3 games here play bigger than most 2-5 or even some 5-10 games. It’s $500 buy in match the stack of Any 1-3 game in the casino. Yesterday there were several stacks over 3k at my table. The other day a friend of mine bought in for $1000 and was the short stack. The 1-3 games are so good that it’s sometimes hard to start a 2-5 game because nobody wants to move. As for my betting, I am very player dependent in many spots. I try to mix up my play and sometimes it is not optimal. I find being difficult to play against has its own rewards.
