I genuinely appreciate you taking the time to make this comment. There is a perception of the instrument being only used for silliness. I REALLY hope the coming generations of Keytarists will continue the instruments evolution. Good luck on finding a Keytar and mastering the techniques!
@KeytarJeff hi jeff i saw your demo on a agency website, just have to say i was suprised at the quality of your playing, and ,,,astounded at the sound and quality of your singing. you done sent me back to the shed for sure on several levels. thanks for settting the bar high. love it.
I LOVE the part which starts at 1:28 Amazing performence Jeff. I'm a big fan. But because of you, I'm now on online store looking for a Keytar ah ah. All the best from London UK
I actually had a band called "Roadpig" which became "pig" we had two Keytarists, a KeyBassist, a Keyboard player &Drummer. We were also featured in KEYBOARD magazine. For sure GO FOR IT!! We need more Keytar bands::) Good Luck!
this guy is RIDICULOUSLY good at what he does. Seriously, that's an insane amount of talent, and good vocal too. I hope this dude's makin' his cash somewhere where people are listening.
Hello dear Jeff. Will you ever come back to Oslo? I still tel my frieds about you after 7-8 years. I really enjoy your work man. Hope to see you again .
Yes i change patches on the fly. Using Music Labs standalone application for RealGuitar called "Toolbox" you can do this and more. These days i use Apple's "MainStage" and have done over 400 shows and happy to report -0- crashes! Not only does it patch change BUT if you sustain a note or chord and change patches it's actually flawless. And i do go back and forth between RG&RS sometimes in the same song
Again, Thanks for the positive comments. Yes, when its completed you can add it to your channel i'm even ok with the video(s) being linked to other external sites. Please use the embeded link from here however.
The left hand in the "Grey Strip" is where i do all my bending, the black bar is for vibrato. I also do vibrato in the grey area by tapping. These days i have a different approach when it comes to Hammer-ons &Pull-offs. I will illustrate that in an upcoming video, Thanks for the kudos!
@MrCloudswimmer Coster did it in a jazz keyboard class at foothill jr college for us back in the 80's. he was telling us it was the rack of (analog) effects he had screwed onto a piece of plywood that make the diff. with the sound. He said when he played , in his head, he was playing a guitar, not playing a keyboard that sounded like a guitar. he said this affected the phrasing to make it more connected and guitar like. the "band of gypsy's" hendrix riffs he was waling said "yes, that's right"
Hi, i have mine painted usually from a "Car" paint shop. Most were bought on ebay. I also now have a 'Custom Made" Keytar which will be seen in my next video. I hope to shoot that in September.
First of all: thank you for sharing your work and talent! I have a AX-1, how can i setup the AX-1 in order to change voices one by one, incrementaly? Thank you in advance.
The band was featured in KEYBOARD magazine in the 90's There will be new a new version of the band. I will be starting on that project towards the end of the year. The band was called "RoadPig" and then i changed the name to "Pig"
@stratogeovarius Considering "Keytaring" as it's own art form is LONG over due!! My Keytars are made for me. There will be one of my series that will be sold on ebay in the coming weeks to see if there really is a demand for these. When your is finished, PLEASE send me some pictures, i would love to see it.
It appears your Keytar is painted, I own a Roland Lucina AX-09 and am looking to paint it. Any advice on how i should go about this? Its made out of plastic and normally spray painting plastic results in it wearing off which is why i am asking how (if) yours was painted.
As an experienced player of drums, guitar, and piano, and many other insturments, drums is the hardest (can be proven scientifically that it is the hardest instrument in the world) and then the piano, and then guitar is much less difficult. Piano is the most important because all music theory is based around the piano.
Thanks, and you are correct. I'm quite pleased that more&more Musicians are taking a serious approach to this instrument.
I've seen Jeff perform like this for entire live Top-40 performances, while singing like Stevie Wonder! Triple-virtuoso Keys, vocal, and performance!
Jeff! i saw many vids from keytar players, and you still the best.. and also you have a great voice!! Please do more vids!!
Regards from URUGUAY!
Amazing intro video, Jeff ! So many different techniques, just mind-blowing 👏👏👏❤️
Thank You Maestro!

@CristovaoFerreira1 The range is an Octave. I now use only "Soft synths for my guitar emulation.
It´s plugged into triton module I think... I have an ax7 and I think is very limiting (Bad aftertouch).

I think roland stopped manufacturing it, you could get them once in a blue on E-Bay or Amazon but they go for one to two grand.
Thank''s for the comment. I own a few of these plus two from my signature series.
That sound was from a KORG trinity module.
In an upcoming video, i shall redo some of this with the RealGuitar. Get ready::))
