Once upon a time, I had fun thinking up cool repaints for potential Botcon sets. Some of them were interesting enough that I thought I would share.

@@emilianotype-g6877 I think he's referring to Wings of Honor, which was, frankly, _almost_ a really good idea, but it was undone a fair bit by the choice of molds and characters being kind of weak.

- Cybertron Red Alert as Kup: Not an intolerable pick, but it leads to having Kup's head sticking out of Red Alert's roof.
- Cybertron Defense Scattorshot as Flak: For some reason, they decided to homage a Micromaster, but they didn't actually use the colors of that Micromaster because Hasbro already put out that mold in Flak's colors as Overload, so he doesn't actually look any more like Flak than the original mold did.
- Energon Rodimus as Thunderclash: The only official Thunderclash toy released in a long time, which is why it's unfortunate that it came out as a squat little Deluxe with weird hips and tiny arms. Also, they screwed up his chest deco.
- Energon Landmine as Landshark: Yes, it's an original character; apparently created as a reference to some SNL sketch. It mostly just looks like the original mold but with more green and bronze. Many people were majorly questioning why the mold (being one of the largest ones in the set and coming with a trailer battle platform) didn't end up being turned into the character meant to be the group leader, but the minds of Funpub are inscrutable.
- Cybertron Sideways as Scourge: Actually, this one's pretty good.
The arguments against wings of honor have always been stupid in my opinion. Land shark is badass, Kup is nice, Flak is pretty and thunder clash is cool on his own.
That idea for switching the autobot and decepticon vehicle modes is genius. That's something Hasbro should do for a fresh change of pace instead of G1 rehashes.
A new armada sideways mold would be perfect to do so.
Agreed, that'd be a refreshing series.
That "Swapped Ideologies" idea is really interesting, I would've loved to see a series based on that concept.
Great, now I'm imagining Jazz transforming into a cassette tape (with his own minions!) and Soundwave transforming into a Porsche.
Plus, Galaxy Force Buzz Saw was literally an homage to Beast Wars Buzz Saw, who was a direct recolor of Waspinator. That mold was so fucking obvious, and would've worked with the Golden Disk Keys, but _no,_ they went with the generic jet mode that doesn't even look like a Cybertronian vehicle.
And he has a minicon called Trigger that is in Minicon/Micron booster vol. 3
They only used that jet mold because the head on that toy already had a passing resemblance to that of Waspinator's and they probably thought that using Cybertron Buzzsaw would've meant retooling a new head for THAT toy since there is no denying the fact that the Mutant head is more recognizably Waspinator to the general public.
I would have shilled out as much cash as neccessary to get The Fallen Wingsaber.

Recently, I created my own fictional Botcon set concept using figures from the WFC Trilogy. Here it is
*THEME:* Escape From The Dead Universe
*SYNOPSIS:* In the world of the Transformers, there is a dimension that only the bravest of sparks dare visit. A slowly expanding realm of both corruption and isolation that seeks out the sparks of the living to feed upon with the ultimate goal of consuming the entire light. This is the Dead Universe; and it is here that a group of unwitting bots sucked in from all across the Transformers Multiverse will be forced to work together in order to escape this cursed dimension before it corrupts their sparks and renders them into an eternal death like state. Little do they know however that one of their own is the very bot responsible for this gathering of subjects working as a servant of the very realm that they are all stuck in. Will the others figure who is responsible before time runs out? Will they be able to escape the Dead Universe?!

Personally I would swap out Quake since we got him in Titans Return, otherwise I love this concept
The "All Are One" I always wanted was an Optimus combiner with Megatron as an arm, especially if you're going for a Combiner theme anyway. Might be tricky if Unicron turns up in the Orion Pax days, though...
This is not an insult, but a compliment, this is one of the prettiest Transformers videos ever made. And I am here for it.
All these ideas look amazing. These are the level of creativity that I miss when it comes to BotCon sets. Hasbro's done their best but they dont quite have that same punch. Their attempts are more focused on using molds for fitting characters rather than using a mold in an unexpected way. I would love to see you do something like this on a semi-regular basis, twice a year at max, just to share ideas. It's a great way to showcase creativity that the franchise is lacking. Given the WfC trilogy playing things safe it would be cool to see what unique characters could be attempted from those molds.

there's actually a figure that resembles your Windcharger concept, that being RoTF Thrust, though not being 1:1 color and obviously being a decepticon rather than an autobot
I think about this all the time. A unicron trilogy boxset was needed. And not to mention TFCon is this weekend which this is well timed. BTW I will be attending.
Edit: I would like to add that the elite guard animated kup is not without merit. People have made custom kups from that mold.
I had also a botcon-esque concept/idea called “Chosen by the shards” and to note (The story maybe iffy in some places but just go with me here). It takes place in some type of Hasbro universe, (where all of its properties coexist in the same universe) Unicron or Galvatron (I couldn’t decide which) recently destroyed the matrix of leadership and all of its shards scatters all around the universe, (Think animated Allspark but on a galactic scale) five of the aforementioned shards ended up in possession of five other heroes in the Hasbro universe. Duke from G.I. Joe, Twilight Sparkle from My Little Pony, Astroyear from Micronauts, Stretch Armstrong from his self titled series and finally ROM the Space Knight from his self title series. The shards respectively attaches to their new host and turn them into techno-organic Cybertronions (similar to Best Machines) afterwords Primus somehow brings the unlikely five man band together, and task them to recover the other shards so they can re-create, the matrix of leadership and stop Unicron and his heralds once and for all. and here comes the exclusive toys I imagine the first five of our “Matrix chosen or Champions of the shards” Group will be the box sets. with Duke being a repaint/retool of classic Hound with a new shoulder double barrel gun turret, (akin to the VAMP’s ) because that is his vehicle mode. for Twilight she would be a straight up repaint of the Best Machines Battle Unicorn mold, and fun fact (she was actually considered to be an actual Botcon exclusive toy under the name of Twilight Sparkle Prime but it never came out). Astroyear would be a repaint of Best Machines Obsidian because that mold had a similar rotor blade backpack to the actual character, and the size also match up as well. Stretch Armstrong mold idea maybe a bit out there but anyways he would be animated Shockwave or more accurately just the Longarm part, because of the figure similar “stretching ability” like the character in question. finally for ROM he would probably be a repaint/retool of either a classic seeker or galaxy force Starscream I don’t know which but both with a new head. for other exclusives I had an idea to use the cybertron deluxe Unicron as either or both Acolytes of Unicron and Scourge. Doing cybertron Vector Prime as Cyclonus with a new head and Safeguard as Nightstick or Krunix. Then as for Galvatron I don’t know really, oh also I forgot to say in summary in this universe the Bots are basically close to be complete destroyed only a small contingent led by Elita One are left. so that’s why Primus was forced to be reliant upon these five, because some like Optimus Prime, Ultra Magnus, Hot Rod or even Bumblebee are dead. anyways he was my proposal hope you enjoy my idea I know some parts not so great and all that, but hopefully you enjoyed reading it anyhow.

These are all pretty sexy . Nemesis Energon Prime + The Fallen Saber is pretty great, that must explain that third party bootleg in Shattered Glass purple
My favorite was the windcharger and bumblebee as the break away mold as a “battle in the sky” concept
most of these kinda feel like a "square peg in a round hole" deal but those actually kinda work
The Crystal City set sounds like a no-brainer. I can see these being repainted into their respective figures.

Energon Nemesis Prime and Wing Saber as _The freaking Fallen?_ Dude, that was so AWESOME.
I will admit that Star Saber looks amazing in the Dreamwave Fallen colors, even if the toy itself is a glorified brick with little to no articulation and is just an accessory to Optimus Prime
that almost makes me think that the backstory is that the Fallen was punished by Unicron to become a mindless drone for Nemesis Prime which would grant him all of the Fallen's power and more when the 2 combined... wonder how one can squeeze Omega Supreme's mold into this, it'd probably be pretty cool
I personally would love a Siege Springer made into a G1 styled Dropkick. That would absolutely work.
That reveal of Optimus and The Fallen being the two villains of that combiner based box set actually gave me a bit of a chill, such a great idea
For the switched ideologies thing I've had a few ideas
Bumblebee- alpha bravo mould attack helicopter with his g1 toy head to look more militaristic
Rodimus- stealth bomber thrilling 30 megatron line arm details in silver to look like his pipes, the fusion cannon is now a rail gun
Optimus prime: titans return blizwing tank And jet as all the parts exist new head budget can go to an energon axe
Huffer and pipes from hoist, the pipes' pipes could be easily represented by rooks fist cannons
Ironhide: universe onslaught, although it could be rook, onslaught is simply bigger
Shockwave: rts jazz, just like alternators
Megatron: octane mold, just like optimus, energon "mace" (flail) hopefully
Seekers: either from cw breakdown or off road
Motor master: power master optimus prime
Soundwave: cw first aid (partially because I like that variation of the mold)
The combatacons and protectobots would be there but in the place of the usual role inversions of the aerial bots and stunticons
These are some solid ideas! I don't even care about The Fallen as a character but would be all over that Wing Sabre repaint.
I’d love to see more animated stuff, I really like how that Kup looks
I love any excuse to get construction vehicles in Constructicon colors, so the Crystal City idea was great for me. And the Identity Crisis, I could kill to get those made, closest I can think is Alternity with the Seekers being Mitsuoka Orochi's. Keep the designs coming, my man!
Combiner Wars Ultra Magnus as Delta Magnus, swap out Minimus Ambus with a recolored MP Spike as a Diaclone pilot
I personally adored botcon 2010's set. Just got it in hand recently and it's everything I hoped it would be. Have you seen the concepts for the potential botcon 2017 with the action master theme? Now those looked like a return to form!
that set was almost too good to be real. it feels like made inretrospect and not something they would have actually made at the time

That Overhaul as Ironhide is amazing
I'll start with the Autobots for identity crisis
Optimus Prime: A military truck
Bumblebee an f-16 fighting falcon
Rachet: a medic humvee
Ironhide: a double barrel tank
Blur: attack helicopter
Kup: a modified Ford F-150 with guns (similar to Machine Gun Joe's truck from the Death Race reboot series)
Prowl: a high tech police car
Hound: remains the same but with more guns
Smokescreen, blue streak, and silver streak: fighter jets
Trailbreaker: a zombie apocalypse SUV (he would be like lockdown from AOE but good)
The technobots, dinobots, aerial bots, and protectobots remain the same.
Wheeljack: an F-15 Eagle
Tracks: a 90s jet
Sideswipe: an osprey jet
Mirage: futuristic fighter jet
I'd love to see another video like this. I've actually got a few sets of my own that I've cooked up. Here's the short of a few:
Targetmaster Shootout (not a very good title): It would be the original 6 Targetmasters being made from Unicron Trilogy molds, with Minicons being made into their targetmaster partners.
Transmetal Timestorm: During the events of the time storm in Beast Wars, Primal wouldn't survive the process of housing Optimus Prime's Spark and Cheetor takes it upon himself to hold the spark for the last few seconds that they need. However, the time storm is stopped a bit later than it was originally and a hole in space-time brings back a few past faces (those being everyone who died up to that point, but not vanished) in new Transmetal modes, with Cheetor becoming a Leobreaker retool now called Optimal Cheetor. The other figures would be repaints/retools of Unicron Trilogy beast characters like Backstop as Rhinox.
Exiles for Hire (this is my favorite and most thought-out idea): Blitzwing, now an exile from the Decepticons after Five Faces of Darkness, heads off into space to become a mercenary, eventually he meets Octane, Devcon, and Slizardo and they form a crew called the 'Exiles for Hire'. They soon come across the reborn Starscream (who was tumbling through space) and after bringing him aboard, they're hired by Alana (Seaspray's girlfriend) to fend off a Quintesson attack on their homeworld.
The Exiles, Starscream, Alana (using the Thunderblast mold), and an upgraded Seaspray (using Energon Mirage) all head to the planet and meet up. The Quintessons meanwhlie have recovered Unicron's now-lifeless head and have kidnapped Primacron (10th Anniversary Optimus Primal, the one with the hoverboard) in order to force him to bring the Chaos Bringer back to life, so they can use him to get revenge on the Transformers.
Once the Exiles seem to be winning, they're met with a surprise face, Sideways from the Unicron triogy (going with the lore that he's a dimension traveler) who has come to protect Unicron so he may fulfill his duty in this universe.
The fiction in this would answer where Blitzwing and Octane went after leaving the Decepticons, what happened to Starscream after he was revived, what becomes of Unicron's head, and catches us up with legacy chracters like Devcon and Alana, along with the surprise appearance of Sideways.
Really hope this gets a part 2.

The RUclips channel Rodimus primal is probably the only thing we’re ever gonna get related to that name.
Personally, I'd have loved if we got a fully Pretender themed set of exclusives, which could go one of three ways:
1. Retools of modern figures based off of the inner robots. (The Most likely route)
2. Retools of G1 Pretenders into Modern Characters (the more interesting route)
3. Make all new shells like Oilmaster, with all the inner bots being Legends scale figures (the full wish fulfillment route)
I haven't thought of a full line-up, except I would 100% have Blue Bacchus and Black Shadow as the main bad guys (in the case of option 2, I'd love to give them a third member based off of Vroom)
HFTD Seaspray into Octopunch but not SG this time… trying to think of the best jet mold for Metalhawk. That TR Triggerhappy retool was ok, but we could do better. Kingdom Cyclonus, maybe? Maybe not, idk. Bludgeon out of whatever Megatron is floating around I guess, maybe do something different and use TLK Megatron. Classics Grimlock in Pretender Shell colors maybe
I'm so, so very sad Botcon died. I never got the chance to go even to one of those cons. I really wanted to go one time but being a kid in the UK, at the time it was pretty much impossible for me. Sad to see it crumble the way it did.
As a Canadian I can relate. I'd love to get my hands on the Botcon/TFCC exclusive figures.
The autobots as major military vehicles sounds fun

Great idea using Lugnut as BW Sandstorm (AKA Shattered Glass Scorponok). I kinda see a bit of Cybertron Jetfire in the design as well, with the transformation engineering. Great idea to use Windcharger as a red Bumblebee from the ROTF Thrust and Breakaway mold. You know what else would work as "BotCon Animated"? Rattletrap from the TFA Prowl mold (Dawn of Future's Past Rattrap). You could do the Bludgeon Gigatron from Blitzwing, a Paradron Medic from Ratchet and more...
I think the only real problem with the Prowl mold for Rattletrap is that Prowl's head is really skinny, and it'd mean replacing it would cause some problems.
Lifeline from Animated Arcee?
Made a document in 2019 full of Botcon ideas ranging with the first one being a Prime-themed set featuring Beast Hunters Megatron retooled into Piranacon.

Glen Hallit was the creative genius in the early Botcon days. For the later Botcon production, Shattered Glass was really a down spiral towards uncreativity and repetition.
I like some of your ideas like Waspinator having helicopter blades and the Energon deluxe combiners as classic combiners. I'm not a big Shattered/Nemesis Prime fan, but that Energon Nem.Prime & Fallen look fantastic.
Pete Sinclair has shown some unused concepts. Some of the stuff we didn’t get was better than what we did. There was plenty of behind the scene hurdles that fans wouldn’t expect.
I wish we got that Hot Spot from RID Prime with Defensor as the super mode and
We got Treadbolt, Countdown, and a few other Micromasters in Universe 08. Your idea definitely took root in some places
I saw Galaxy force buzzsaw mentioned in the comments. Yes his cyber key mentions the beast machines. He also technically has a minicon that is basically a crumplezone repaint that can create the attack helicopter mode like with armada cylconus. The minicon is called Trigger in the galaxy force micron booster vol. 3

I feel like animated shockwave turned into Armada Megatron would’ve been cool.
Honestly... the Pre-Beast Wars is the only Botcon set I would actually want. Sure the Botcon sets got a little weird and all over the place but I think the fan ideas were just as weird and all over the place as the official sets.
Shattered Glass is another Botcon concept that I really enjoyed and would love to see get more mainstream releases. I thought it was going to happen in Cyberverse because they had a whole Multiverse story in that series but it didn't end up happening.
Another idea I thought was really cool was the Transtech inspired figures where they repainted Animated Blurr with a new head as Cheetor. I wish they did more of those like I think WFC Optimus Prime... the Video Game mold not the Siege mold looks a lot like the concept for Transtech Optimus Prime. There are a few modern molds that look like they were some what inspired by or maybe unintentionally work really well as Transtech designs.
Some really out there one that I don't think worked as part of a box set but I still liked were like Thrustinator the Waspinator Thrust hybrid from the BWII Cyberbeast remold of the original Waspinator. That was a really cool design and I kind of wish they used the Max-B mold to make a Silverbolt/Jetstorm hybrid in the same style. Rhinox would be kind of hard to do because there's no rhino Cyberbeast, they could use his Transmetal mold but then I don't think it match the style of the other two.
I also really love the RID Megatron/Galvatron or Car Robots Gigatron mold as BW Megatron but I don't really care about any of the other figures that were in that set and I'm not sure there would be anything that I would want with him.
I would have loved Gobots set based on the e hobby mini box release.

First Concept Thoughts: Honestly, in my opinion, Rodimus should've been a Triple Changer if he got a Beast Wars counterpart - one beast form being a Kori Bustard and the other being a Hartebeest. Making him a lion pretty much makes him a redeco of Lio Convoy but with an Energon Rodimus head.
Second Concept Thoughts: To be fair, I think the Beast Wars 2 Megatron toy over in Japan was based more on Transmetal 2 Megatron in Beast Wars (before his little dip in the lava). But I agree, we should've gotten it here.
Third Concept Thoughts: Yes. Exactly this.
Fourth Concept Thoughts: Skywarp's colors would fit pretty well in the Cybertron Starscream model. Scratch that - Skywarp's colors would fit pretty well in ANY Unicron Trilogy Starscream model.
Fifth Concept Thoughts: Did we actually get any Stunticon representation in Energon? Because I don't think we did.
Sixth Concept Thoughts: Not gonna lie, G1 Hot Spot's colors fit pretty well on Energon Inferno!
Seventh Concept Thoughts: You even used the Titanium Fallen colors for this concept! Me likey! :D
(Plus, your Grand Scourge/Nemesis Prime recolor of Energon Optimus looks darn good combined with your Titanium Fallen recolor of Wing Saber.)

Ninth Concept Thoughts: One flaw - Sideways has purple in his color scheme, not orange.
Tenth Concept Thoughts: Swap the red & blue around or replace the red with some dark green and you've got yourself a good Energon Ironhide redeco of a G1 Overhaul toy!
Eleventh Concept Thoughts: Replace the purple with some yellow and that'll be convincing enough for me.
Twelfth Concept Thoughts: Genuinely cursed and - sorry to say this, but - something I can not see happening.
Thirteenth Concept Thoughts: It's meh. I can see it happening, though.
Fourteenth Concept Thoughts: Not that bad. It actually looks pretty cool!
Fifteenth Concept Thoughts: Imagine if we got Terrorsaur in Animated...

My ideas for botcon sets, which is involving Beast Era sets would be 1.) a two 6-pack set, which would have the Maximals and Predacons in Earth Mode, and are Combiner War figures to create maximal/predacon combiners. my choices for them are Optimus Primal as CW Optimus, Rhinox as CW Rook, Rattrap as CW Blackjack/Rodimus, Cheetor as CW Prowl/Dead-End, Tigatron as CW Breakdown, and Airrazor as one of the CW Jets, maybe Skydive. For the Predacon side I would have Megatron as CW Hot Spot, Tarantulas as CW Groove(Legend Class), Dinobot as CW Off Road, Waspinator as CW Alpha Bravo/Vortex, Terrosaur as CW Air Raid, and Scorpinok as CW Rook/Swindle. The only other idea I had was a set of Beast Era cast in the movie universe with Movie style vehicle and Robot modes(Don't have a layout for that one unlike the Combiner Wars one.)

I would have loved to see more Go-bots! We had a Cosmos mold and it was never remade into Pathfinder! We had RID Strongarm that would have made an amazing Little Foot! RID Stormshot had a very good Leader-1 quality to it, IMO. I think RID Sideswipe would have wokred as Crasher... And who wouldn't want a military green Warpath? Either the small Legend one or the Deluxe one.
Another I always thought would be fun would be to do some of the Beast Wars Second and Beast Wars Neo characters in vehicle mode. Take the Air Vehicon, give it a Scylla head and call it a submarine... Done!
Like I said before, the most creative BotCon got with Animated was Cheetor out of Blurr to fully realize the homage in Blurr's design.

I had a similar idea to your Botcon animated once upon a time. But mine was Classics vs Animated but with all Botcon characters.
Some highlights were: 2001 Arcee from tfa blackarachnia, 2000 Shockaract from tfa Shockwave, and 1998 Vice Grip from Beast Hunters Bumblebee
I also have an idea to pitch for Botcon well before Hasbro stopped supporting them. It's an idea involving the Generation 1 cartoon continuity. It involves The First Decepticon whom Megatron was made in his image. I called this First Decepticon Star Smasher. He's got a red tinted color scheme with the body of G1 Megatron and the head of IDW Galvatron but without the middle horn.
I liked The Fallen from Wingsaber and animated Megazarak a lot!!! o.o

I had an idea to repaint Kingdom Cheetor in the Playskool colors. Baby Transformers don’t get enough love, First Transformers, Playskool GoBots, Rescue Bots, they need more love!
The black sword in the first set is actually a construct bots sword, I forgot who it came with but I distinctly remember it

Plot: During the great war, Ratchet was stationed as a field medic with a group of Militaristic Autobots. They were called the Wreckers, an elite group of the top soldiers recruited to help with Project Omega. Led by their charismatic leader Impactor, their motto is to "Wreck and Roll".

Waspinator into a G2 jet mold apparently happened because both molds have "antennae", which means it does a pretty good job of looking like Waspinator's headsculpt.
My favorite botcon set was the animated 2011 set for the stunticon
Also i think a great botcon idea would be the Vorpal saber. A red clear star saber.

Transformers Horizons(yeah, that's the line name), the fiction idea was we would have RiD 2001 toys used as Japan only characters.
For the Cybertron
Prime would be Fire Convoy
Prowl would be an Autotrooper
Side Burn would be Artfire(rather than the Hot Shot toy)
X-Brawn's counterpart I still don't have a name for
Rail Racer would be a mix of Sixrail(yeah it's kinda cheating there) and Raiden bots
for the Destronger the cast would be unknown.
For the media, the comic would cover the first 7 episodes of Car Robots in one volume, then in the collectors club would be prose stories covering the remaining 32 episodes(although cutting 13,16 and 35 which are all clip shows)
The animated shockwave could also be armada megatron
Sandstorm wasn't the Japan Botcon figure used from Beast Wars Scorponock mold, that was Double Punch
To be fair to Waspinator, I suspect it was a homage to the Transmetal figure, which may have been a homage to the episode where starscream possessed him.

Universe Silverbolt could’ve been a killer Skyquake, Combiner Wars Prime is a solid Thunder Clash. Earthrise Double Dealer as Stalker? Is that anything? Use whoever the beefiest carbot is as Boss. The Datsun mold could make a solid Rapido, or maybe 86 Jazz. Earthrise seekers as Snare feels too easy but idk what else there is off the top of my head
@@Cdr2002 I think the Hardhead/Quake mould from Titans Return makes a kinda convincing stalker, just have to work in the headmaster somehow.
My idea would have been an “R.I.D what could have been”, it would be is an Atobot version of the Commandos and Squorge, repainting the Combiner Wars Combaticons and Titans Return Deluxe Optimus Prime.
The fiction is that this time the Autobots would save the Protoforms and take them to the base where they would scan their vehicles
The names would be
Hapercharger (a turquoise and white Mega-Octane repaint)
Warpath (a red and gray Armorhide repaint)
Whorl (a Sliver and White Rotor repaint)
Blast Master (a Black and Silver Moveor repaint)
And Outback (a Burgundy and White Rollbar repaint)
And then they all combine into Armistice
And their leader, Revocater

Flareup gets my vote for obvious reasons. Also still want a Rodimus Primal and BW Galvatron. Though for a set, I honestly find myself wanting the Rescue Bots done CHUG+ style.

This was a concept from years ago but I wanted a dinobot (beastwars) to have a alt paint to resemble the dinobots (g1). They did eventually create the character slash which is close enough.
If anyone is apart of a third party company they could use these ideas and credit him, both making some money to help keep families a float and to bring TJ's dreams come true
